"That's excellent news," Juri said, grinning still more at the enthusiasm of his compatriot. "I won't lie. There will be risk, a lot of it. I know that you already took that risk by travelling with us, but this - well, this is different." Juri's face grew a little more serious. The boy was, after all, barely old enough to leave his planet, though Juri understood that Exodites grew up fast. He felt a momentary pang in his conscience to be asking someone so youthful to go on a mission like this. But he was the Exodite, and Khaine knew that they Captain could use a bit of local knowledge. Well, more local ... Juri was hazy on the details of the nuances of Exodite life, but he knew that they all rode lizards and lived in castles. Or something good and plain and simple. One reason the Corsair had never taken much time to learn more about Exodite life. "They are seeking the Sword of Eldanesh, I may have mentioned that. As in, the legendary hero of the Eldar race. The relic that some claim to have a mere shard of. The Seers of Lugganth have asked my Felarch to find it. He's got a few friends to go with him, of course, but the world below - Mirienh - is said to be an Exodite world and none of us is really well-versed in their ways. Your ways. So I need someone who can be a sort of ... cultural ambassador." Juri's face brightened once more as he lighted on a suitable term. "I can't promise more than glory, adventure and the gifts of the Seer Council. I cannot guarantee that it won't end in tears and a death far from home. That's the life of the Corsair! Are you with me?" "If you are, then go to the command deck and introduce yourself to Captain Iktomi. Tell him Juri sent you." "I'll see you soon there myself, I have another couple of people to see." @BadDo9
Avrielle paused, and reached up to give Faenkon a hug. It seemed to be at least as much to reassure herself as the Ranger. "Thank you. You are right, of course, I just ... I will apologise to Morvan. I know he is aware of things I have no knowledge of. I will go and make syre Yareli is all right, and then I will check the shuttle comms. I don't know that much about the rest, but I am good with technical things ..." "I just want you to be safe," she said, managing a small smile. "And I will do my best to ensure it, you have my word on that!" @kanila
Avrielle gathered herself and went to find her friend. "Yareli?" she asked, sounding unsure of what to say next. "Are you ... all right?" "I spoke to Morvan," she said, gaining momentum if not exactly confidence, "and I ... well, I might have got a little angrier than I should have. But that's not why I'm here. Come and have some tea, We can talk quietly for a bit, away from everyone. Things got quite heated back there and we are about to go and do something very important. But I want you to be happy. I want you to be all right, Yarelka." The girl offered her friend her arm, so that they might walk a little way away, to the peaceful oasis of the Chambers of Reflection. @Uriel1339
Returning her hug he gave her a smile. "This isn't our first adventure together, and it will not be our last." With that he headed for the shuttle. All of his gear was ready to go prior to the meeting, all that was left was to embark on the next leg of their adventure!
@Jorimel Hearing Avrielle's voice the woman straightened herself immediately and focused all her strength, forcing a smile on her lips and shaking her head before talking. "I am fine, Avrielle. I just needed to take a breath. Talks of war were never my expertise, and I reacted too harsh. I know better. I am a diplomat, not a warrior. I can negotiate peace treaties, trades and all such thing. But in no shape or form am I fit for a war council, I know that now." She took a deep breath and nodded, more to herself than any. "I do not wish to isolate myself further as Mymeara had when they thought to be the sole survivors of the Fall, thus I must deny your offer." The white-haired woman put a hand on her friend's shoulder. "But I think tea would do them all well, so why don't we make them some? Surely everyone's spirit and body are tense." There was a wink of hers, a sign that she indeed wanted to care for more than just herself. In contrast to her first appearance to the group.
@Jorimel Talis' face only grew more excited, more enthusiastic as he listened to Juri's words. He'd known the risk and danger of leaving his home, a fact that sometimes he would reflect on during his sleep. There was a small sobering in his eyes at the fact that he would be in even more danger going down, working with them. But he was getting a chance to actually explore now, and to even be a part of his race's history. That combination appealed more than the young one could say, and he only got five words out as Juri turned to leave. "M-my name is Talis!" he called as he walked off. After that, he was unable to move for a few moments, simply taking in the happenings of the past few minutes. Then, habit sprung up. He swung he backpack into position, clipped it on and started to walk. he found his hand travelling down to the belt-pouch where he held his journal. quickly he took it out as well as his sketching pencil, and began to draw. One odd 'skill' he had once developed was being able to maneuver through the mountains, trees, and landscape of his home with his head buried in his journal or staring at the sky for birds. This seemed to work just as well here, flowing around people and only once in a while looking up to make sure he was going the right way. By the time he had reached the command deck, he'd sketched a rather on-the-nose likeness of Juri's face. The exodite had simply been so excited and inspired he had to draw something. He stopped jest before entering and centered himself. He didn't know what it would look like, a young exodite with a knapsack, a coiled-up rope and hook, belt-pouches, and some heavy boots walking into the command deck of a ship as of this. So, after a moment, he smiled and strode in, looking around at the people who were there. He didn't know which one was the Captain, so... "Hello? My name is Talis, I'm.. an Exodite. Juri said to say he sent me?" he called gently, even showing the drawing as some sort of unconscious, learned instinct to show proof of what he was talking about.
Juri sipped from his drink as he regarded the two warriors. One a dour, black-clad man, sombre in his appearance but with the look of a keen fighter. The other a tall, martial woman in a white robe over a bodysuit, keen-eyed, alert. Both lithe and well-muscled. The sort of Eldar one could rely on in a fight. He'd taken a short while and a slight liberty in calling them together to the bar to talk to them on behalf of a Felarch who didn't know he was asking, with an authority he might or might not have, precisely, not as such. Knowing that it was exactly what Iktomi himself would have done gave Juri a warm feeling inside. "So, Astarielle, Talsin," he said, "I am Juri, ship's communications officer. I co-ordinate ship to shore communications, with the good lady Avrielle as the planetside receiver. I am sure that you have heard by now of the gravity of our mission: to find the legendary Sword of Eldanesh himself." He paused to let the weight of that sink in. "The mission is a dangerous one; they go to face the unknown world below, though we believe there may be Exodites there. I have arranged for an Exodite specialist to accompany them, but the lad though keen is not that epxerienced in the ways of the world. I would like to ask you to go with him, and to protect him from harm. My Felarch is a capable man, but he travels with his beloved fiancee, and she is not a soldier. I could not countenance the tragedy of anything happening to her in the hour of his happiness." "Will you take me up on this? It is a highly risky venture. But the Sword, and perhaps the future of the race itself, is at stake. I will answer your questions of course, such as I may, but if you have no more to ask and you wish to aid them, you will find Iktomi and his band on the bridge." "Tel them," he took another sip of his wine, "that Juri sent you." He smiled brightly. @matt23 @Avenging-Angel
@Jorimel Talshin bowed his head slightly before speaking, "I shall undertake the task at hand. If it is as important as you say, the risk is merely secondary to ensuring the mission's completion." He then turned from Juri and took a few steps before looking over his shoulder, "Thank you for This opportunity. I shall not waste it." He then left the presence of Juri, as he had concluded those who he'd work with directly maybe somewhat more helpful. However, this was merely an assumption as Talshin had lost trust in others sometime ago. So, instead of taking the time to relax, he decided it would be more fruitful to introduce himself to the group he would work with. His mind was a blur as Talshin made his way to the bridge. A forces pilgrimage...That was a sophisticated way of saying exiled. Was it his fault that war was all he had come to know? The way of the sword had come to be second nature to him, but only because of what his people asked of him. Why now do they ask, 'is the sword all you have come to know'? An outcast is how it made him feel, alone and without his home. Regardless, there was still hope. One last hope to keep him from becoming lost in the path of the warrior, and this ship and crew had unknowingly become a part of his redemption. Finally, Talshin entered the bridge to meet with this crew he was to work with. He entered just as he heard, 'My name is Talis' and everything that followed. He brushed off his black robes a moment before speaking (@BadDo9 ), "So you are also sent here by Juri? Interesting... I am Talshin." He bowed his head slightly.
@Jorimel & All| Astarielle nodded to herself as she listened to Juri. She had heard of the momentous quest that the Arcadia had set out on, already considering how best to spread the tale unfolding around her, and glanced over at her drinking partner as he spoke, an opinion of the man already being formed. Up-tight and pompous. The mention of the Exodite that would be accompanying the team down to the ground spurred Astarielle into action, the former Banshee remembering times she'd fought in the Swordwind against those who threatened the worlds of the eldar, and she rose to leave, grinning at Juri as she reached her full height. "I shall keep an eye on the Exodite and protect him from harm. Don't you worry about that." Making her way along the corridors of the Arcadia Astarielle reflected on how she'd reached this point in her life. More than half of it had been spent fighting, the rest telling others of her fights. She'd come so close to becoming an Exarch, lost on the Path of the Warrior, and that had scared her enough to leave Biel-Tan and try new experiences, to break the addiction she believed she suffered from. Entering the bridge Astarielle glanced at the eldar Talshin was speaking with, identifying him as the Exodite Juri had spoke of and deciding to speak with him later, before turning to look at the other assembled eldar. "Juri sent me. You need someone to chronicle your adventures."
Amriel looked about him as the three newcomers entered the bridge. The only one left was the Ranger, and he seemed like he was the "strong, silent type" and everybody else appeared busy with their tasks, so with a hefty internal sigh he stepped towards the pair that had just walked in. He supposed it would be his job to work with them, unless the Exodite would be with the Ranger as a scout. Either way, he should introduce himself. "Welcome to the Bridge, I am Amriel Vauntor, Fire Dragon from Yme-Loc. You are the warriors that Juri told us about then?"
