I wouldn't mind seeing them as maybe a "requisition" type thing. Say if a faction gathered enough "points" or something of a manner to possibly call in a VERY limited time titan onto the field. or possibly just a "titan attack" that comes from off the field but has the capability to pretty much destroy ONE thing. That way factions who are losing horribly may still have a chance to come back, or if they just wanted to start the battle with a bang. I would only be satisfied if the lengths to go through for the Titan was actually scaled to what you get. Such as possibly cutting through Tyranids to reach a lost relic or artifact for the Mechanicum and they grant you the use of a titan for so many times, or a limited time, etc. Of course you have to fight a Carnifex or Hive Tyrant for the relic making it an actual challenge.
Or what if simply devs fought titan against titan, only a few members of counsel allowed to ride along or man a gun, with the rest merely watching on
would definantly like to but not control. titans on all sides are crewed by elite soldiers not like any old grunt straight from battlefield would be throwen in one.
I don't really think I'd like that too much. it would be kinda like "Hey look there's two titans fighting. but it doesn;t do ANYTHING"
Ive touched upon this before an ill do it again. No good comes out of limiting things to the devs. Either everyone has a chance or noone has a chance. Even the devs wouldnt agree with this. Limiting availability of something to 10ish people who have a very limited time in their fulfilled lives to actually spend even a fraction of time on this game in comparison how much we will drug ourselves with it is just downright silly. And what if the dev that is currently online has to log off cause he needs to go visit his friends or family? The Titan just dissapears into thin air?
Agreed, the very limit I can see a "Titan" being involved is a special tyranid event Involving Bio-Titans that are AI controlled. I've heard tyranids swarms overrunning continents as part of an event mentioned so I can see this being plausible.
I was thinking more along the line of one time event rather than something that has to be constinantly operated. Think watching two titans fighting in a river bridges on eitherside each heavily armed by opposing factions which ever titan wins destroys the bridge and ensures control of crossing to their side, again high members of the leadership of both sides and the devs as crews. players on the riverbanks waiting to see the outcome cheering on the battle. Probably way too much to be put in even in my opinion, would loose tons of time better spent on the rest of the game, but thinking more along the lines of what I would like to see rather than what will actually happen in the game. Deffinantly don't want to see one blasting everything and anything into mush as it hops around. as far as titan just disappearing when no one is there to pilot it yeah, they are operating on a bigger scale than just what we on the ground would see so that would fit in. But rarity is key maybe only 1 time sighting and only if we are lucky enough to find sides way to evenly matched ie to break a total stalemate ( on the off chance that can happen) no one wants to spend months fighting over the exact same territory and not having any chance to see the rest of the world. Not talking stuck in fighting either. I just foresee some players on both sides not commiting to a fight ie. sit for easy reward when campaign ends simply allowing others to go out and die while they just sit back and slaughter attacks, rather than forming a counter attack. I hated that about pvp in other games one push that if lost, half the team would sit in start area to end match quicker for participation token rather than changing strategy and trying again. hopefully this wont happen on a mass scale but on the off chance it did a titan could sure stir the pot if you get where Im trying to go.
A Titan is a relic for all teh factions. They would make for an ideal strategic piece of gear. It would be awesome if we could pilot one, it would require a full crew to operate, from walking, targeting, firing weapons, repairs, etc.
