They did give you something to feel like that: the game Space Marine.

Oh thanks, I will go play that game instead.........

Clocked over 1k combined hours into the PC and PS3 versions. It's a good game.

Stay tuned to EC, it's the MMO version.

You're fighting other players who are equally as monstrous and dangerous as you, therefore you die quickly if another player is better than you or gets the jump on you. When everyone is a monster, everyone is a "normal man in a shiny suit."

Basic Eldar Guardian teams can mow down a tactical squad. One shot from a bolter can kill your tactical in TT, it takes many more than that in Eternal Crusade. Space/Chaos Marines do die easily in both lore and tabletop. But really , neither lore nor table top should be, especially inconsistent and blatantly hyperbolic wildly fantastical lore.

  5. And right next to that one, "How many days since our last TTK tweaks?" Those days are actually counted in months, as in 8 months of Alpha with zero overall boost to TTK across the board(that we know of). So we're testing everything in Alpha BUT different levels of durability and different types of TTK?

Let's not kid ourselves and say "we're waiting for Orks and Eldar" because we've tweaked the MoN no less than 5 times already, so it's quite apparent tweaking durability on our characters is possible in lieu of the fact that Orks and Eldar aren't implemented yet.

I only say that because most people seem to want to make this game just a bigger version of that game. EC is a large open tactical game that punishes people for not thinking. I get that a lot of people want the epic feel they get when they read SM books but this isn't that. Honest question here: if orks get in game and have high TTK would that make you upset?

If people want an epic power fantasy game where they kick ass and take names it already exists, but if you want the more realistic side of 40k this is hopefully going to capture that feeling.
    ArtemK and Sxep like this.

1st point. True. Till you add guns and armor in. I don't think they engineered a bunch of soldiers, created armor for them and while they were doing it they thought, "Hmmm you know this common firearm on the battlefield, do we need to defend against this?... NA."

2nd point. Don't get me wrong I am not a Space Marine/Chaos fanboy, I played Eldar on the TT. and unless something something drastically changed since I played Eldar guardians were nothing without their attached heavy weapons platform used to hold the line while my Reapers mowed them down or my Scorpions/Banshees closed on them.

One shot kills against a a space marine usually represented a lucky head shot or a wound that put them out of the fight but didn't kill them and to do it you needed a really big weapon that ignored armor, or you had to roll really well and he had to role very poorly.

I am not advocating for some insane increase like the original poster is but I think a higher TTK even a little increase will make it feel much better.

I think a better option than adding TTK to show SM and Ork increased ruggedness and durability would be to make the downed state less punishing on them. That would say yes he was hurt but no he didnt outright die right away. But then the problem becomes how do you keep people down with the apoth running around picking people up. Execute wouldn't work because it would be a suicide run to go put the guy down if he isnt directly next to you.

I wouldn't be upset at all. I haven't read SM books, I killed SM more times then I can count on the TT.

I don't want a SM epic crunching sound as everyone falls beneath their feet. I am not a Space Marine/ Chaos Fanboy.

What I do want is to fight in battles that don't feel like COD but feel like I am fighting actual monsters and super soldiers...

So more like halo 1? Not gonna lie I loved that pacing and gameplay, but I don't see it playing out as well in the as it stands right now. Now if they manage to make the huge big battle style of planetside I agree the TTK probably would need a bit more. Atm the game focuses more on tactical choices to stay alive. Obviously there are situations that don't work as well like assaulting a capture point, but that is how it would go in the 40k universe.

I'm not saying this is you but there are a lot of people that DO wan't a SM power fantasy. They want to be able to wade through a wall of bolter fire and start hacking everything in arms reach apart. A lot of TTK arguments on these forums seem to be based on that thought process.

Also remember (I know everyone hates this saying) they still have accessories to implement that can have a drastic effect on survivability. Raising HP values now would be counter productive if they have to turn around and lower them again after they add more features.

So please save the TTK debates for a time when all the pieces are here and there would be more grounds for them. I would rather they focus on other aspects of the game instead of the stuff that works but annoys. They only have so many resources and people to throw at a problem, and I'm sure the devs enjoy going home at the end of the day as much as the rest of us.
