If time to kill is not increased, I just don't know what to say. The current time to kill (ttk) is ridiculously short, almost to the point where I am questioning why it feels like we're wearing wet paper bags? One power axe and you're dead, heck, just look at a Sorc and wink at them and they are dead. Honestly, as it stands right now, the game is borderline rogue-like, and sorry, but I didn't buy this to feel like I am playing Bloodborne or Dark Souls. I love PvP scenario/battlegrounds, but part of that is having epic skirmishes that can last up to a minute with a few good healers. As it stands now, the longest skirmish you will have in this game is 3-6 seconds, but mostly just 3 seconds and either you or the enemy is dead. Quite frankly, it's not fun. The game has so much potential, and could be very enjoyable, but as it stands this game is completely infuriating and unless there are changes I would have to be an absolute glutton for punishment to continue much longer.
As it is the game is not necessarily supposed to be fun, it's supposed to be filled with bugs that we're here to exterminate We're alpha testers for a reason.
Sorry, but that is just outright wrong. The core game is obviously supposed to be fun, and it has potential to be. We aren't ONLY bug testing, we are here to talk about the direction of combat, as that is the primary focus right now of Early Access. Right now the Time to Kill is too short. It needs work, and unless people start discussing it, the devs might think we all enjoy dying in less than 5 seconds. Saying the game is not supposed to be fun.....that is like saying that a baby is not worth a parents time in terms of developing their personality, simply because they are babies, they are filled with flaws and you're supposed to just address the flaws, but not work on them as human beings. It's just a silly statement.
Well, I'm not really sure what a storm axe is, but everything right now is flexible. As always, if you don't like the current patch, play in the next one. When Eldar arrive, you can expect changes across the board, including TTK. When Orks arrive, expect even more, all the way to, through, and after late Alpha, Beta, and launch.
Fixed, meant Power Axe. I understand there will be changes, and I am all for them and will keep checking back. However, I need to voice the opinion that TTK is just way too fast right now. It's borderline masochistic. Kill or be killed in three seconds. Not a fan of the TTK at all right now and hoping to see some changes. That is what this thread is about, voicing my distaste for the current TTK, and really hoping that this isn't the ultimate direction for this game, because it has TONS of potential.
How long, very specifically, do you want the average TTK to be if you are engaged with someone 1v1? I have at least a dozen engagements in every single match, no exceptions, in which I have "prolonged" engagements with the enemy.
@Rustwalker With current weapon damage, that would require approximately an entire clip from a bolter to kill a space marine. Every shot would have to hit. That is absurd, ranged combat would be rendered almost entirely ineffectual.
What class do you main? Simply put, if people are happy with the TTK, fine. Then this is not the game for me. If you all enjoy how it is and hope that it remains, best of luck. I just won't continue past launch if the game remains with this short TTK. It just is not my idea of enjoyable. Then again, I don't play games like Black Ops or Team Fortress, and if this game is intending to be a first person shooter, then TTK is probably fine....but it isn't a first person shooter, so I am confused. If TTK was raised, I could see myself loving this game, if it isn't...then it just isn't my type of game. No big deal.
Increase the clip size, slightly raise ranged damage while lowering melee damage. Raise health/shields by triple what they are. Make healers way more resilient and boost their heals ten fold so that people actually want to play them.
