Time To Get Started On "counseling"

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Warsmith_Matt, Oct 28, 2013.

  1. Well it's hard to see before the game at least goes into OB who is competent and who isn't. I don't think a lot of people will tolerate having groups on the council if they aren't very good even if they have large numbers.

And what counts as "good" to you?

i think it is too early to talk about this
  4. It's too early for this. Even Beta is too early. The major players and good Clans haven't been identified yet. You can think you're going to be the "Cats @ss" all you want but the truth is that there are going to be a lot of players coming from all over the place that are going to be running their own show. Until some battles are waged and stats recorded there's no real point of basis to assign real roles and leadership. At this point a lot of people want to be the big cheese and it hasn't been earned yet. So it must wait until the show starts. It will be chaotic at first but that's how it always is with release.
  5. I will probably need counselling after having to wait 2 years for this game :(

  7. Not hostile. Sorry if you took it that way. I'm just really frank and candid. It's the Airborne Ranger in me. But the statement holds as true. This topic is pointless until we get playing and the Guilds/Clans/Chapters that are successful start the politics

All the BS aside, it may not be too early to talk about structure, but it is far to early to start putting names in place.

Ask yourself this; who on this forum has experience leading hundreds of GAMERS simultaneously in FPS/TPS environment? I for one have that experience and still flex that muscle now and then. I however, am not a candidate, as I am a private contractor and won't be in game for months on end.

Ok, so there are the PS2 players that are some what experienced with running hundreds of gamers. Real world leadership plays into it as well, but we all know that Drill instructor dick is usually the last way to get any gamer to do anything, so if that is all you bring to the table, walk.

Being able to lead a large guild/outfit/player association is a good start, but remember those people all made a commitment to a joint venture with you, now you are asking other people with commitments elsewhere to commit to your ideals and leadership. Why should they?

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Assign positions, get a general agreement on what the responsibilities should be and assign names later. It is usaully the biggest guilds that end up with the most sway with the Dev's. That can be great, or it can be total suck. I would love to see every players have the same mount of say. But I doubt that will be the case.

Anyway, just some things I wanted to throw out there.

I have worked with Rangers, SF, elite units all over the world. I have yet to meet one that could not speak his mind without creating hostility. In a type "A" world, hostility begets hostility and nothing gets done.

Using an elite unit background as an excuse for being rude/hostile/whatever is a no go. In my opinion.

I won't post my entire resume, but I have 23 years in the Corps, most of those with special operations.
