Honestly, I don't even like playing on the fortress maps. I mean it's not just the tickets, but also the lag and low frames due to all the players. More players =/= more fun. Also the eternal screenshake is in full effect there too. For now, 3 Point maps are just right for me.
While tickets themeselves are a tactical element, I also feel this system is so frustrating... Maybe they should try something different.
Nothing as fun as joining a game, with all the hilarious loading screens, to just then see the endgame screen pop up. Zero xp, zero fun, blood pressure to the max. But yeah, fortress maps, it's cool in concept and i'm sure it's cool if you have no lags and slowing downs at all (one lucky bastard you are) but as things are now....not so much. Though for being honest i kind of like the tickets system. Well, once again the whole concept of it more than how it actually ends up working.
Instead of flat tickets, how about needing to kill x many defenders before the point is capturable, with respawns delayed slightly (5 seconds, no more) after that point?
I kinda miss tug of war, maybe we could have that someday where every cap just adds time to a 8 min timer with 4 min per flipped point starting the middle. Judges where the line of war falls at the end of the match or if it gets to the end of the line. That way the "game takes too long to end a stomp" group can be happy along with the old Alterac valley crowd.
I'd love a system where defenders have a limited respawn system: only every X seconds, or they have to use a specific item to keep the respawn point up. Like Eldar / CSM using an artifact to open a portal from where soldiers can respawn, or Orks / LSM using a beacon to let drop pods fall from the sky.
On Zedek and Maggon, there used to be unlimited spawns for both sides, and defenders could go and recap (if you lost A, you could recap it, but if you lost B, you'd have to recap B before you could recap A). Really, it was a lot of fun (well, on Maggon; always hated Zedek). Now though, you can't recap, and the limited spawns don't shift backwards like they do on fortresses, so it's less "Hold the Line" and more "Zerg Harder So We Don't Lose Unused Lives".
Matches should only start if there is an equal number on both sides, full stop. The current constant starting unbalance is probably the only thing keeping the glue eaters from being wiped off the map.
