Ticket life defense maps and late joining. /head-desk

How many times a session do you guys end up joining a defense game where your team has already been steamrolled through one to three of the cap points due to simply loading faster on top of outnumbering the defenders by a significant margin?

Devs, please adjust this garbage a bit. It's a waste of our time and unnecessarily aggravating. If it's a max 20 player map, they why are you launching it with something like 5 vs 8 without any ready check?

Brainstorm ideas: raise the minimum threshold to launch a game. Never launch the game if the defenders are under manned. Force a ready check or at least verify that a reasonable ratio of defenders:attackers clients have loaded before launching the match. Lock the first cap for 5 minutes so that it can't be ninja'd before defenders even load in.

  2. Been telling this for weeks. Tickets based maps shouldn't start until population numbers are even.
Today on Zedek orks vs Lsm we were like 7 vs 12. Impossibile to defend, also thanks to the WAAAAGH!

Late joining is one thing. Has to do with matchmaking and other people leaving games. I suppose they could polish MM a bit, but there's only so much you can do for such a small population of players. There's going to be matchmaking issues for this game no matter what you do.

As for the ticket system, it should be removed. The ticket system doesn't enhance the gameplay or promote any sort of tactical play. It all comes down to "kill defenders real fast or lose." It's retarded. And here's a little fact about the ticket system; the smaller the fights (less players on both sides), the better off the defenders are.

I do know however that the defenders have an innate advantage while defending and that defending used to be super easy before tickets, but tickets are now the way to fix or balence this issue. There's no way to get the ticket system to work. It's dumb and bad and needs to be replaced with something else.

I've joined when there was no tickets left on my team... >.<

    As have I. For months.

The tactical element is if you chose to slug it out and kill all defenders or do 1 nice burst and cap the point effectively wiping out defender tickets from that spawn. What can be done better, is to have a ticket counter for atkers too :p that way every life matters.

Just loaded into three non-ticket already lost games in a row as Chaos. Didn't even get to make it to the fighting in the first two and flat out rage quit the last one because what's the point. Great way to start my evening gaming session.

No ticket system. God it's so bad why would anyone want this? Tickets for attackers too is just twice as bad.

I mean, here's where it flounders: orks during a waaagh and khornate CMSs, instantly unfair. That's on top of the issues I've already typed up; braindead tactic of "kill dem fast." Sure you can try blitzing the point and neutralize a bunch of spawns, but I've only seen that done on the first point of a fortress map. And good fucking luck ever blitzing that last point because at the end of the day it always comes down to those damn tickets.

If I had my way, I'd remove tickets and instead add a bunch of secondary objectives all over the place on all the maps. Stuff like opening or closing giant blast doors for new attack paths, or activating a special gun that blows up a bridge or defender vantage point, or access to vehicles and vet/elite/terminator classes (a player can spawn one once every couple of minutes while not being one at that location, per player). If attackers can get all or most of those objectives, they would end up with a huge advantage. Also, no more spawning directly next to the points; ie they spawn like the point is currently contested 100% of the time, or just a bit further away so they don't spawn in the same damn room.

BAM. Way better game with 1000% more tactical options. And no bullshit lazy ticket system for anyone to deal with.

On fortress maps, having a smaller team is actually an advantage. You lose tickets at a slower rate.

So either way, it's still a major problem. Such match types should only pop during peak hours, with minimum 10v10 for HTL and 20v20 for fortress. Anything else just breaks that game type.

I'd say 95% of Ork games start with half as many orks as the other race AT BEST.
Last night I was in a match, Chaos had capped all 3 points before the orks even spawned in, I know this because noone, not even chaos, had a single kill.
