It's an old topic, but it might be what LSM get in their campaign. So let's have a poll. Here is what it looks like:
My opinion: It doesn't fit the 40k theme as a shoulderpad. If I was sitting in a drop pod, and one of my space marine brothers had this shoulderpad, everyone in the drop pod would be avoiding eye contact with awkward silence.
Can I get it for my non LSM characters? If I come under fire I just turn to my side and they'll be so triggered that they drop their bolters and start spasming on the floor.
If you get it as Chaos, you will be bullied. If you get it as Orks, everyone will laugh at you. Especially mork and gork. If you get it as Eldar, people will ask why you have the picture of a monkey on your shoulder. And as for LSM, it's like "Dude I love the Emperor too but that's a bit weird, man."
To which you reply "Watch this!" and throw it into a room, then all the Space Marines run out screaming and you gun them down. It'd be great!
It's not awful per say, it just doesn't match with anything in 40k or anything on gear. I don't think I've even seen official GW artwork that ever really had a "realisticish" depiction painted on. Heraldry and whatnot yes, faces no.
It's heresy, that's what it is. And a certain GIF involving Dr. Ken Jeong comes to mind. Seriously though, I don't care. As long as it isn't heavier on the game's performance than any other fancy shoulderpad, I probably won't even notice unless I'm bumming around in the garrison.
