Chivalry > Mount and Blade when it comes to melee attacks. I'm thinking it will be closer to Space Marine, however.
it better not be--while that was a fun game, the melee combat was suitable for destroying orkz in droves and power-attacking the shit out of big nobs--not pvp combat, where its just a matter of who attacks first and flailing widly--its also hard to aim with that style. PLEASE DEVS! TAKE NOTE OF THIS THREAD! PLEASE! also--how the hell do i do polls after ive already started a thread?
I just hope SM and CSM aren't to squishy. They wear that armor for a reason, they should be able to take a LOT of beating (ranged and especially close melee) before going down. Eldar more squishy but also more powerful weapons and mobility Orks ... I don't really care bout those walking mushrooms
While this is not a traditional MMO, it is also not a WH40K tabletop campaign. Nor will it adhere strictly to the lore. The devs will keep to the lore as much as gameplay will allow.
where was it indicated anybody was saying that? im saying that its not a leveling system--its an TPS that involves skill combined with chivalries medieval combat that also involves skill--combined with planetside 2 elements. my point is that too many people think its going to be like WoW and Age of Reckoning and Knights of the Old Republic and all of those MMO's, but with a 40k setting, which it most certainly is NOT! i agree with you whole heartedly on what you are saying!
There are some interesting close combat mechanics in space marine : with each hit comes an interruption and a combo, if you use it wisely, you can beat a power hammer with a power sword, and win the fight without much damage. If it's a vets assault marines combat, it's not about who strikes first, believe me.
They said they were trying to make the combat a bit more complex and away from the direction SM. It's the best comparison but they're trying to flesh it out instead of turning it into a button mash fest.
I noticed way back in the very first Email they sent out about the devs that their lead designer has played games like: Planet Side 2, Chivalry, Mount & Blade and many other amazing games. From what I can interpret, they will incorporate those game styles into Eternal Crusade, especially the melee combat. I feel very confident that they are working the melee system based on these games as well as the FPS style of Planet Side into the ranged combat. I feel the game will focus heavily on the Players Personal Skill set over the typical MMO RPG element of Dice Rolling.
YEES YES YES YES YES YES YES!! WOOT FUCK YES THANK YOU YES YES YES YES YEEESS! also they have very good taste in games...
