The reviews are what they are. They show a clear (AND TANGIBLE) frustration with the game in its current state, and rightfully so. We're one day out from launch, and most of us are -highly- skeptical that the devs are going to release anything in the coming patch that won't be full of bugs and half-assed promises. I've played in closed alphas, closed betas, open betas, and early access in games for the past 12+ years. I have seen this pattern before, and it is -not- a good one. I don't know how many times I've stated this, but I am willing to bet that 99% of the people here bitching are FANS of Warhammer 40K and actually -want- this game to succeed. I don't know how many fanboys I've seen rise to defend this game, shouting down anyone who has feedback, constructive or otherwise. The steam reviews speak for themselves. I am just highly doubtful that this game will last a year. While my doubts are usually quite well-founded and usually proven true, in this regard, I hope they're not and that Eternal Crusade gets its shit together and goes on to become something great... I want a solid WAR40K experience more than most, and right now, this isn't even close to that.
I'm sure it's been said in this thread by now, but fuck right off son. People can and should make reviews that reflect how they feel about a game, so long as they are factually accurate and reflect the game as it is, not bygone promises or potential.
Holding a developer to "bygone promises" isn't a bad thing. The game industry is the only business I can really think of that can get away with selling you bits and pieces of a whole. Microtransactions, "DLC", "optional content", these are all part of what SHOULD be included in a final product before it EVER hits the shelves. We as consumers have allowed this to happen, and because of that fact, I don't see it ever changing in the future. If Eternal Crusade released as a big, meaty subscription game with actual content and things to keep me interested in it for more than a few hours a week, and offered free content with the occasional paid expansion, I would NOT mind paying $5-$10 a month for such a thing. Sadly, what we're being given is at best, an Alpha+ stage game.
Most new games don't last a year, most new MMO's don't last 3 months, people don't have any patience left, people don't want to play 6 months to reach max level, people don't want any grinds, people wan't boatloads of custom content, they want that content faster then they can gobble it up, bugs should also not be part of the fast itteration of that content, if its an advantage only they can use, they want it, if its common to everyone, then nerf it, nerf it to hell. and so on... If you want a solid WH40K experience, break out the Pewter Minatures, oh wait they are plastic these days right, RIGHT Anyway i think all this this early access, alpha testing etc is pure bs, games should come out when they are ready, i bought the game last week as i had no intrest in playing it for a year, to me the game is fresh and new for everyone who has tested its tits off, it must be a shore to play right now with little to any new content. But thats what you get for Alpha testing. I hope this game succeeds like most of you, but the only games that get past a year old are games that sold millions of units.
The problem is this game plans on taking warframes approach with around monthly free content updates and stuff and they have been around for 3 years and is still has a strong community, although they massively neglect vetren content for the older players, but the problem is Warframe is free and I believe this will be AAA pricing if I'm not mistaken so this game will auto fail if it takes the course it's taking as they cant maintain or grow the fanbase that well.
I gave this game a good review but that's because I actually enjoy playing it. It has issues, as an Ork main, I can safely say this, but I still have a lot of fun. It's not perfect, it's not what was promised but I can hop in a match and have fun. I want bikes. I want explosive melee weapons. I want Burnas, I want space battles, I want mp space hulks (imagine that one for a bit), I want Thunderhawks and Warkoptas, I want large vehicle maps, I want an open world map, I want faction built bases and defenses, I want 200 player slugfests that last hours... But right now I enjoy the game for what it is. That's why I gave it a good review.
people upset because other people like something and rate it positive are fun. now the rating of the game is back at 70% (is important because is blue color and positive rating) recent rewiev are at 76% (last 30 days) important to know founders review are no more in this rating: this because of steam change in the rating external key aren't considered in the rating (so all the "founder fanboy army" review are not counted).
When my friend pitched this game to me last year, he said Orc's where going to be free to Play, they should have kept that, because it lets people test out the game, if they like it buy their side and game on. But yeah, ive been playing games since Wolfenstein 3D came out in 1991-92 ish, i know why its gonna fail, its how most games fail, greedy corporates that financed this game want their investment back, even if it means the game fails. At least they recuperated their money or so they hope. Games are not made for our entertainment, they are made to make more money, thats the sad fact.
I hope they keep the free to boy package because that would be a demo at least plus it would inflate orks playerbase, or it's a hell on earth for new players if you play orks in their current state right now
