Hello fellow crusaders of any faction, race and other variables I've been lurking on this forum for a very long time before actually buying this game, and even more after buying it and now that i played this game for a while i just wanted to know, aside from various balance issues and a generally bumpy ride through the development process, what is the current feeling of the community toward the game, because i feel it still has infinite potential if supported and handled correctly. I can understand the earliest founders' low morale and trust @devs after all this time, what of the others? (founders are welcome too of course) I hereby summon this community to state their opinion in a civil manner. Thank you guys.
theres a lot of mixed feeling going on around here. I'm an old school founder that put in over $300, won two contests and got some friends in for free (because thats what friends do!). The game still needs some polishing and things are constantly being worked on but for a WH40K fan it's really cool to have something like this in the works! I have some issues and reasons to complain but find it pointless to do so because I already know that the devs are aware of them and they have their own priorities. Some players are still salty over promises made several years ago and had their chance to bail out and get a refund but would rather stay and insult the game. Spoiler
I know that, but that's too many variables to process, a lot of people are waiting for balance ''stability'' and polishing before actually coming back from the game, without forgetting that this is a somewhat unique concept in all the W40k games out here which aims for replayability on its own, without depending on mods from the community and such ( like Dawn of War and relative expansions)
Want the opinion of an old founder? It was pushed out prematurely, they're doing their best. The emperor protects.
It's a game. Games are supposed to be fun. I currently play the game, so therefore I have fun. If I don't have fun, I don't play.
At the moment I am not playing, while I'm waiting for better times. I handed my account over to my brother so he can give it a try. Besides the broken promises, what has been delivered is rather poor in terms of content. There arent' many maps, and PvE is bad to say the least. Quality of the game is rather mediocre as there are still many bugs, errors, crashes, placeholder icons. What really hurts is the melee system is definitely awful, mainly because of bad choices about animations timing, weapons numbers, bugs. This takes away at least 50% of the joy of playing Eternal Crusade because, even if the bigger picture in the end might look balanced, one often has the impression to die by swords / maces / axes and to have very little chances to react. Attacks spam is too fast, and the proper counter is bugged (doesn't even work), or just too slow, or it doesn't even do what it's supposed to. Intended or not we don't know, but it's awful. JPA classes then can exploit this broken melee system at its very best as they get the highest mobility at expense of very little loadout effectiveness. They can also get out of stun by pressing one magic button. In fact this is now considered the kill-farming class. We have then the Plasma issue: that weapon is by far the most imbalanced thing I've seen in multiplayer videogames in ages. And believe me I'm around since the days of Pong if you know what I mean. Despite all of this EC still has potential. If they manage to make animations smoother, make melee classes more balanced towards the other classes, focus on guilds and start expanding the content then this game still has opportunities to shine. But at the moment in my opinion it's just bad, and not worth the price they ask for it. (In fact my brother decided not to purchase it, even if he loves WH40K).
