Things You Do Not Like About Warhammer 40000

  1. In the free(!!!!!) rules for the old WHFB factions, all the characters are usable.

  2. I do not like the following:

    1. Alpha Legion seem to be unbeatable

    2. Space Marines are typically too human in the books. This is fine for the Salamanders because they are supposed to be the most compassionate Chapter. This is understandable to a certain extant because it is tough to write something from a nonhuman point of view, but it still gets irritating.

    4. Not enough Imperial Fists!

Shouldn't have been Space Wolves. Why not call in the Space Sharks? Terminator... Space Sharks? Great White Land Raiders.
    Surely.

The thing I don't like is the fact Orks are completely neglected and only used as a means of having some fodder to make it interesting every now and then. There's no fully-fledged Ork novel, only novels where they're mentioned or that one with the Imperial Guard that's taken "Slave" by one. There's comics and that's about it.
Orks a just used as a roadblock between the Main character and his goal, so something actually happens. Three Space Marines holding off a WAAAAGH! Overnight, Titus decimating a WAAAAGH and the list goes on and on of how bad Orks are.
They get a few kills here and there, but that's it. Even in games it's portrayed like that, heck even in Eternal Crusade. Look in the Art for Eternal Crusade and watch every single Ork being blown up or beaten to death by a Space Marine.
So it's sad that the view is like that on Orks. It's just silly. I thought EC would encourage players to play somewhat Orks aswell, but why do hell do that, when even their Artwork portrays Orks as fodder.

Only thing that comforts, is the fact Necrons, Tyranids or Orks will win in the end.

  5. I think the reason you see Orks being killed so often is that it doesn't matter -- they are like cockroaches (no insult intended). You kill one and there will be a 100 more behind them!

I think GW loves the orks as much as you do and there are plenty of times the orks have been victorious (although you are correct that they also get beaten a lot). I think why you don't see a ton of ork-centric books is that it is hard to write from the perspective of something that unhuman. They have done it successfully (in my opinion) with the skaven, but that is typically often comedic in nature.

I think you will see a lot of cool ork stuff when they are ready to be play tested.

    -Grey Knights
-the amount of failures by the Adepta Sororitas (and lack of new models)
-the amount of failures by the Orks (call me biased and unknowing on this, but there aren't much examples of Ork victories except for Ghazghkull and Grukk)
    - The lack of representation of smaller species (Hrud, Tarellians, Demiurg,...)

Indeed, they're a numbers race. There's so many opinions on how many Orks, for say A Space Marine can take on at a time. But it varies depending on Ork, Size, Class and so forth, so forth.
Even though I think The game Space Marine was ridiculous. Good game, but from the Orks point of view, it was silly.

There's been a little handfull of Major Ork victories. Else it's just been "Orks move in, chomp the planet, The Mighty Angels of Death, mightiest defenders of humanity eviscerates all Orks, Done."

Indeed, I know that it would be hard to really capture an Ork in a Ork-focused book. I might sit here and say "It should be simple, shouldn't it? WAAAAGH and there you go." But of course there's much, much more to it. Such a inhuman thing, would be hard to describe in a 100% Ork focused book.
I think it could be done though.

But yeah, you're an Imperial Fist. You should somehow know how I feel. :D

  8. Yes, we tend to end up in pieces scattered across the battlefield.

  9. At least you die with honor! When we show up in novels, we tend to get fall of damnos level bullshit thrown at us! For those who don't know, fall of Damnos includes: Mac daddy dual wielding pylons, completely undefended tomb citadels, a dreadnaught blowing up and entire city, Necron lords having a secret weakspot, gauss REMOVING PAINT from power armor, and so on.
  10. 1. When they replace good lore with bad lore(and really, the bad lore in general)
    2. All the unexplored potential.
    3. The prices of course.
