This thread is for people to vent their frustration about the Warhammer 40000 universe, feel free to speak up about your disappointments but do not FLAME other people, keep it civil! 1. Chaos Daemons and Daemonic Possessions. This is really a Bad concept, that is why everyone want to go against Chaos, because this type of thinking deprive people of their free wills. I want the creators of the Chaos codex to get rid of this type of thinking and just make cooler Chaos Space Marines models and marines without this type of thinking. Super Anti Chaos Daemons and Daemonic possession Guy Here! No daemons, greater daemons and NO daemonic possessed marines! Be original, give Chaos Marines a chance to develop and evolve with their free wills! 2. Tyranids. The lack of information about the Tyranids true origins is disappointing. Everyone knows they want to eat everyone and should just unite to get rid of them. I am disappointed there is still a functional Codex Tyranids, but I am glad that no one can be their allies in the game rules stipulated. Everyone ganging up against Tyranids is a cool thing in this game, Death to the Tyranids! Ok, this my rant and serious discussion on why I have issues with the Warhammer 40000 universe. Keep talking about things that fustrate you in the Warhammer 40000 universe, be it game concepts or stories. If you do not agree with someones views, do not argue just stay away from this thread...
Every character in 40k is one dimensional. I find it difficult to care for any faction (and consequently, their well-being) when they're all boring/predictable/beating a long-dead horse.
Grim darkness darkness grimness dark dark grim. To the point of parody, almost. You can't sit their publishing books wanting to be all "Serious" and then go so grim and dark that it circles around to being hilarious because of how stupid it is. Like that adepta soritas group the grey knights butchered to glyph their armor. Or how the imperial government is somehow incredibly incompetent and yet at the same time sometime holding together. I'm not saying none of these things INDIVIDUALLY are silly, but when you constantly focus only on GRIM DARK DARK GRIM then it becomes boring. A good dark story has 'light' in it because the contrast helps point out how dark things are. In fact, a great example of this is Valiant Hearts: Tales of the Great war. Play it if you haven't, but without the ups the downs would not have the EMOTIONAL impact they would've. And as August says above, it's hard to give a damn when you give us characters who aren't people. Edit: Let me put it this way, it's ok to be pulpy, but it's not ok to be pulpy and expect people to take it seriously. I like pulp, it can be fun, and 40k is at its best when it's being FUN pulpy, instead of 90's edgelord pulpy.
The prices and the lack of consistency. Some of their stuff is really awesome like the Horus heresy series, but others...I have ended friendships over the fall of Damnos's Unconcentrated bullshit. Don't get me started on it pls.
Prices, for me. It's just ridiculous. You can't justify all that money for... pressure-cast plastic and metal. Sure, it has detail, but come on. Books do have some high price too.
I've lost count the amount of times I've said I'm into Warhammer 40,000 and people have asked. "Do you collect the models?" Me: "No, no way. Way too expensive!" So yeah, price along with pretty much every one else. Not just that but GW wanting to sue people left right and centre for minor indiscretions. EG: the woman who wrote the Space Marine children story which had nothing to do with 40k
