So I'm reading the new Chaos Campaign theme and I'm recalling Skulls for the Skull Throne campaign as well. I do love the concept. I do love the immersive aspects. While the intent is understood and greatly appreciated, where are the tangibles? 1. So win or lose where are the tangibles? What does winning do for our faction? How can we see the effects in game and on the planet? 2. What does summoning forth the daemon do for our faction? Where is the daemon? Can it be summoned during a match? That would be cool, like summoning the Ice Giant in WoW's Alterac Valley. 3. Do we have access to a special buff via winning our last campaign? Perhaps something similar to the "Waaagh" mechanic for each faction? Or access to a particular themed hero or elite for X number of days or weeks(until the next campaign) in addition to our normal number of Veteran spawns per match? Do we get a new trinket or a new pocket item that has a thematic buff, or toggle ability, or cooldown ability, or perhaps we can toggle an outgoing debuff that reflects the theme of the campaign? 4. Without a clear overall winner of each campaign what are we actually denying our opponents? If everyone wins and if everyone gets a participation trophy, what's the point really? 5. Without tangible rewards and without winning or losing actually effecting how we play or fight after each campaign, the campaigns are simply EXP quests. 6. There's no pass/fail outcome. Other than losing exp/rtc we feel no effects in the game world win or lose. Perhaps these are the first steps to a more meaningful campaign experience. If so that's great. We really do need tangibles though and we need to be able to see a clear overall winner with ramifications for win/loss. We really need signs of the win or loss on the battlefield during and/or immediately following each campaign.
I'll say it will be your point 4 to 6. If they ever implement a campaign system that really has an impact on gameplay - nobody knows... yeah, they said that they have plans and what not - but let's face it: this will take a lot of time...
My guess and this is just a guess but I feel like towards the end of the 7 campaigns we will see a new elite. Think of it this way. Oh no a Nloodthrister has appeared! Quick bring out the new bad asses to fight it. Make sense?
Yeah, I mean they literally just have campaigns for all factions ATM because of the shitshow that one-faction campaigns were, with everyone stacking that one faction for the entirety of the campaign. I'd like to see some more tangible awards - imagine if winning a campaign allowed you to spawn a Dreadnought ala Space Marine? That shit would be cool as hell, but I think this game is well beyond that, unless Behaviour sees fit to fill the team's ranks again. You're putting way too much faith in a skeleton crew.
Let's be honest... All Elite are useless (Except LSM) and adding one more useless thing don't change anything.
what if the faction that wins the bi-weekly campain first gets 100 extra LP on their loadouts till the next one?
Would probably be easier to allow the winner to spawn an extra veteran per match, though I'd love to see the ability to spawn temporary Elites that are thematic according to the theme of the campaign. Example: Khorne Themed campaign: -If Chaos is overall winner they get to spawn a Khorne Berserker Elite(everyone that got 10 wins has access to this elite) for the next 2 weeks, or until the next campaign ends. Spawing the Elite once per match, in addition to their Veteran one spawn per match. This particular Elite can become available again during Events or when/if we repeat Khorne themed campaigns. Perhaps the Elite could be put up for sale on the store after the campaign ends and after everyone gets a chance to run the elite. This would ensure that BHVR turns out a capable Elite because everyone would get a chance to "test drive" the elite prior to purchase. -If any other factions win they get temp access to an Elite for the same duration.
I'm guessing they won't do anything specific with the campaign series. Seems to just be story progression which they had mentioned. If Eldar specific campaign(but four faction participation), then they should get the elite. Wonder if they will release elite at the campaign start(other factions it was around a week after) as they've been holding back.
