Just because previous games have cut corners doesnt mean they SHOULD have, it doesnt mean that the games are better than if they had NOT cut those corners, and it sure as warp does not mean that EC should cut corners.
You're sure it isn't required? Our lord and savior, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, can bestow upon me my eternal virginity again with his immense dark magical powers. With such I can achieve my highest of name selections of 69sultryMOOSEnipplesxXx13.
Well, yes with 3 conditions: 1) They should be in one unit and stay tight. 2) I should be able to nuke them all instantly with something apocalyptic - I want to see those signs filling screen that I've killed 30 guillimans at once! 3) After I slaughter them all those accounts must be deleted.
So one Space Marine should be able to cut-down 15 orks with one magazine of his apocalypse death bolter before beating another 5 to death with his gauntlets in an RTS or MMOTPS. Not to mention spit acid at his foes... etc. Have you even heard of game balance?
Once again strawman argument! Let me be simpler: Games Workshop, the creators and maintainers of the Warhammer 40k IP, do not want players in the game having stolen names since this game's story is being written as a serious part of the universe which means (still with me?) that the events and characters of the game could just maybe become a part of a larger story. They are treating the game just like they treat a book written in-house or a codex and as such it bears the full scrutiny and attention that the 40k deserves. Whenever they dont scrutinize an extension of the universe we get big and unnecessary mistakes (like all the little annoyances Relic overlooked or crap that Goto writes) and as such this line of thinking is the best possible thing they could be doing with this game much like they should have done with every single game in the IP previously. Now i know you only read the 1st line and started writing your comment with yet another strawman argument that in no way actually benefits your aim in this thread because...well i have no clue what is wrong with you...but the point is that the name restriction system is a good idea ONLY benefits the game in the long run so that it doesnt become another black mark on the IP (storm of vengeance, chess, etc)
So, if I get this right, a company decides to make use of it's right to protect it's property, as stated in the legal part at the bottom of the page... The fact that the company does that (and it's known that GW is very protective about their property, since they paid it dearly in the past...hint... Warcraft...) it's not normal, and we should blame it on some fanboys that are protecting their lore... And, the fact that that said company puts restrictions on how you will use their product is censorship... You lost me there...and I'm regarded anti-fanboism...
What like only having one Master of the Watch at any time, resulting in everyone else not being able to play as the special character, Or only allowing 30 Terminator players because the entirety of the first company didn't deploy to Arkhona. Or sub-faction restricted squads because SWs can't go in DA squads or Ultramarine squads. How fun would that be?
