...Defender of Lore? What? GW doesn't allow you to use their IP, Having people claiming major lore names has nothing to do with wanting lore accuracy for christ sake. You might have a hundred people wanting to play as Calgar, You really think people will be content with the person who made the character first being the only one allowed to have that? Only ONE guild can be called the Ultramarines? Get real dude.
What good is lore if you ignore it? This is the question! Why build a universe when everyone just wants to play in a different one? Why write books, make games, create entire libraries of information on an IP when everyone wants to change it to suit their own selfish preference? The restrictions exist to protect 40k! If you dont like 40k and dont want to experience 40k then play something else. Plenty of video games exist in this world in every genre on every system. Dont try to change something that works as intended when there are plenty of other things that dont care if you follow it's rules
Very true on both...but... 1)GW can put as many restrictions they want and it's within their legal rights...their product, their rules. You have the right to disagree all you like...in the end you will pay for the product, with all the rules related, or go find a product more to your liking... 2) The whole "fanboys enforced the restrictions" argument is not valid. I would point out that this started from the guild names reservations thread...people complained about names, and Miguel explained that guilds are not part of the actual game and will not appear in game...He also stated that in game naming falls into GW restrictions... So how exactly do fans relate to this and how their opinion matters?
