The What If? Thread

  1. Yeah, but I just wonder if there are junior primarchs walking around... And if so, who is more susceptible of having fathered kids? I'd go for Vulkan, Fulgrim (for sure), Corax, and maybe Guilliman. What do you think of this list?
  2. Dark Knight Dark-Knight Nickname Change

I think a large population of the Imperium was 'conceived' by Leman Russ after he won a drinking competition with the Emperor. He then he trawled the galaxy looking for a decent kebab shop, found some cyclops guy, pissed up his wall, stomped his 'ead in and smashed his windows and then stumbled away looking for the blessed Kebab shop in the Eye of Terror.

The rest is just Imperial propaganda.

True story is the Space Wolves recovered Russ centuries ago and he's been kept in stasis below in the deep cavern network of the Fang as the Iron Priests frantically try to find a pre-emptive cure for his soon to erupt apocalyptic hangover.

  3. Vulkan and Guilliman do seem like the two most likely options if it's biologically possible to sire an heir. The former was very much a man of the people intent more upon being a farmer and keeping his people alive than forming a dominion, while the latter grew up in one of the most civilised worlds left during Old Night. Corax however, I do not personally see him having the time or inclination to do so given the length of his rebellion, the timing in which the Emperor arrived and how quickly he was given his legion. Unlike the other two there was less time nor quite so right an environment to build a full romantic relationship, and the rebellion seemed to be his primary focus.

El Johnson also seems very unlikely given his knightly upbringing and worldview of extreme black and white, making him far more like the modern astartes than his contemporaries. There's also the thoughts that he might possibly have been autistic, but i'd rather not follow through with that theory due to a lack of knowledge surrounding that mental state.

Curze, Angron and Perturabo are all out of the question. The former and latter were defined early on by their loneliness and isolation, meaning it's unlikely they formed any truly close relationships, while Angron was, well, Angron. The Nails really speak for themselves. Ferrus similarly intentionally kept his distance from the clans of Medusa to help strengthen them and force them to adapt to harsher environment, so he's definitely out.

Fulgrim seems unlikely but potentially possible, though his overall attitude and the supply starved state of Chemos makes it fairly unlikely this would have happened. He did mostly lead by example and, from what I remember, the population was fairly well controlled. Sanguinius is fairly similar in this respect given the state of Baal, but he was far more open and had less of an ego than Fulgrim, so it's just about possible that he did allow for this. Lorgar was far more of a figurehead to his people and tied to his church, so he's certainly out, though again in terms of personality he seems like one of the more plausible options were it not for the influence of Kor Phaeron.

For Mortarion a wife or daughter would have been a calming influence upon him, and probably would have helped him get past his grudge against the Emperor. He also seems far too similar in personality to Perturabo in terms of companionship and treatment towards others for it to be truly viable, but he did also form strong connections with the villages on his world. Dorn is equally unlikely thanks to his stoic attitude though a more stable upbringing makes him somewhat more viable in this respect, meaning it's possible he could have taken a lover earlier on in his lift than when the Emperor found him.

Magnus was somewhat similar to Fulgrim in a few respects and he did tend to be driven far more by personal knowledge than personal connections. At the same time he was definitely open with most people and, at least one point in his life, did care for the people of Prospero, so similar to Dorn he's just about possible.

Russ, Khan and possibly Horus are the three most likely given their warrior culture and upbringings, the Khan certainly more so. The Mongol leaders he was based upon were certainly known for displaying certain preferences and having larger harems, and both he and Russ had the right sort of personalities, environments and people surrounding them to make this more plausible than others. Horus is definitely less so as unlike the horse riders or pseudo-vikings his people did hail from a world starved of resources, but lacked many of the restrictions on Chemos, Baal or others.

As for Alpharius Omegon, not a damn clue.

  4. Killbo, always a pleasure to read your analysis :)
If I didn't mention other primarchs than this ones I've named, it's because I counted them out of the equation :)
I'm gonna save your post somewhere, it really is a good and thorough job :)
And for Corax he was very close of a little girl who stayed with him even after the arrival of the emperor, so maybe it is me being a girl, but I like to imagine Primarchs being in love ^^
  5. Haha I'm not even sure if he knows what a girl looks like ^^ and what you can do with her :D
