Sergeants can have array of different options available to them in comparison to regular guardsmen, in the codex it is listed that they can take boltguns both pistol and rifle, power weapons, power fists and plasma pistols as well as the standard laspistol and chainsword. power weapons you have available are the standard fare you can have power swords, axes, mauls and lances.
ok then, bare in mind you are attacking with a guardsman's statline so you will be wounding marines on a 5+ and without that bolt pistol you likely won't make much headway... Nah just kidding you can take what you want that's fine by me
'Colonel' Pfiffer will have what the 19th Valerian armory outfits the veteran riflemen, because he fled from a penal world with nothing but guard clothes and a set of regicide. Maybe Pfiffer could have some something little extra from the armory if he try go to bed with the officer tasked with arming the regiment...
Sometimes, it is normally a weapon reserved for Stormtroopers and Tempestus Scions but there are occasions in the lore where veterans do actually get them. The question is though are you thinking hellguns or hotshot lasguns? as hellguns are old outdated weapons currently being phased out across the Imperium in favor of the new hot shot weapon which although not as powerful are far easier to manufacture You can go ahead with that, considering your character was a colonel before he would clearly know what would make an officer tick so to speak.
@Donairian @TechCaptain Assuming it is 41.M After being enlisted to the veteran IV'th battalion of 19th Valerian Regiment, Pfiffer with his experience of brigand politics used his acumen skill to get around the standard issued hot shot lasgun of Kraken-pattern that his korp were being equipped with. After having some drink & 'o-yer-blatant-stories' of former wars and battles with the grizzled 'n numb senior officers, Pfiffer managed to get a special issue so he could get his hands on one of the few Cadian-pattern Hellgun. For Pfiffer, it is a perfect weapon as he grew fond of it during Armageddon wars. Surely, hellgun are complicated in its design and expensive to maintain. However, Pfiffer have an advantage in that field as he know HOW to maintain a hellgun. Pfiffer boast being able to dissemble and assemble a hellgun in 18 standard terran minutes. Also, its heavy 15kg backpack fitted Pfiffers stocky fatmuscled body perfectly. Also the other equipment were standard laspistol, grenades, storm sabre, assault flak armor and 20 days ration. One slight note: Her role is better described as "Heavily armoured trooper, not someone that happens to be carrying a lascannon/autocannon/ any other form of heavy weapon."
I was hoping to be wearing Skitarii War Plate but eh. What is heavily armored for IG? Carapace? But looking at our squad we have a sniper and a sniper/spotter team. The we have me and the colonel for better than average mid range (Hellgun and Bolter) and then we have a regular rifleman. Lol and then Armored trooper.
