The Unused Veteran Conundrum

Personally I only really use my Veteran for a critical juncture in the game. Like when you absolutely HAVE to defend/capture a Point to win. The extra durability can be very useful in that moment, but otherwise a Veteran isn't terribly useful.

Vet Sorcs don't even get more warp charges....Nor more dmg...
And the amount of LP you free, doesn't bring anything much relevant to the table tbh.

You'll still be weaker than other vets, you'll still be pretty easy to kill, and you'll still be a worthless shit offensive wise. So...VEt Sorcerers are good to make screenshots in Garrison. HUEHUEHEUHEUHUEHUEUH

I decided to go ahead and make a Sorc vet with MoT. I think it was a mistake and if I could undo all the points I spent towards this I would. It just really doesn't make much of a difference to my regular Sorc. The additional spell space is largely bad any way. Flickering flames is a pig, and fuzzy beach ball is always going to be fuzzy beach ball. So you just put some points in trying to make him as survivable as a regular marine.

I don't use him much at all now. If anyone is reading this thread I the future, I'd recommend against blowing you first vet grind on Sorc and take it on something you get higher rewards from the extra AP like Traitor or even one of the CC builds for fun.

Remember that a veteran isn't meant to be able to change the course of a battle alone unless you play like a scaredy cat. You'll just get focused down if you don't. You need to form a squad of veterans, because this is a team based game

  5. The irony is Veteran Aspiring Sorcerer is actually called Sorcerer, as in no longer Aspiring. But you can't tell from playing one.

You absolutely CAN use the veteran at the beginning of a match and many people do do this. Tbh I would disregard anyone telling you WHEN to use one as each game is different. Personally I use mine early on on "hold the line" and the normal conquest style maps (the 3 cap ones).

I do this for two reasons 1) because I am likely to forget later in the game and 2) because if we are attacking on conquest we need the time from the first cap of each point and if we are defending on hold the line it can and often DOES grind down more of the clock before our A point tickets get used up.

I say all of this from the standpoint of a player who plays with a small group of friends mostly however. If I play solo I use my vet whenever I can because A) I like the look of them and B) I like the fact that I can help you guys level up more with the additional points on offer for killing me. :D

It entirely depends on play style, map knowledge and which vet you choose though.

I tend to play a support vet or a havoc/heavy/loota however and I find that deployed correctly with support it is the most effective.

    Embrace it.

I do. I tend to bring the veteran on at a critical point in the game too like some others, but I intentionally try and get people to chase me and they almost always do. Getting 4-5 people to leave a point and chase after your veteran is a win for your team when you really need that point capped. I bet people are all like "oh yeah, killed your veteran bro, haha!" while my team is securing the win.

I'm thinking my Vet still dies super fast but I just think at the end of the day I may have to change the mark.

I feel at this point being a healer type (90%) of the time, I need a tankier build. It's really sustained damage that is the problem since I often get ganked being the healer.

I wish I could exchange skills but I'm thinking Sorc might be better suited to Nurgle over Tzeentch. I love the background, and obviously from my avatar, it's what I play.... It's just not really converting the mark in the game.

    DISTRACTION CARNIFEX.

Play your vet like that and let your team reap the rewards. :)

  10. I always use my veteran, but I must admit that the tier varies:
Top tier: Tactical variants, because they can run, scape, and because such things they can get off the regeneration more often than not, making their extra hp useful.
Mid tier: Supports and jump classes, because with their extra tankiness can be a little more useful on a situation that usually means death to them. Painboy for example can turtle up a bit more and not die for nothing and you can clean a sniper nest more easily with a jump assault that doesnt dies with one dbash.
Low tier: GA classes and Heavies. Even with the BIG amount of total hp that the GA can get they are the worst in this meta. And the heavies are a bit cumbersome because they are not about tanking damage but about good positioning. You are in a bad position and welp, you elite is down.
