I think it could use a little work. Give chaos the same baseline we have right now and let them spec into different ways to survive based on their marks. Space Marines could get a little more armor (like 1-2 moments of direct fire more) and Orks could get some more health and maybe a little toughness. Eldar should lose a little toughness and maybe a little armor (like 10 points to each) since they can run very fast and have smaller hitboxes.
Increasing TTK would do one thing. Make melee even stronger. Right now if I see a howling banshee come running at me and im armed with a bolter, chances are she will make it into melee and now im stuck playing her game. If TTK was raised, she would guaranteed make it into melee. The issue is not the TTK. It is the way the devs have the servers working (which is also a big part of why eldar feel so strong). Right now if a player shoots you they will have you half dead before the server lets you know you are being shot. This is why you have people saying "wtf the bolter is so weak" because on their screen they have to use half a clip to get a kill. But on your screen you died in half a second. This is even more noticable with the heavier weapons. For example we never even see the plasma balls that one shot us. Because by the time the server is telling us that the guy has shot at us we are already dead.
Give me a few minutes and I'll pull up a clip of me unloading 10 bolter rounds in the head of an ork without him dieing Take a rank 2-3 Ork, he has 100 armor, 282hp and 125 toughness. That translate into 458 ehp against bolters/shoota/heavybolter etc. The dps of a bolter under 20m is 210. If you don't miss any bullets and fire at close range, it takes more than 2 seconds of constant firing, which is already very long. Longer than 99% of the shooters out there by A LOT. You can easily triple that when you're firing from a longer range btw.
Some weapons are too fast, some like the Bolter are far too slow! If you buff people anymore it will need an entire clip to down one person, especially with lifestyle or health regen. Currently raptors with health regen/life steal can out heal the damage they are receiving! No class in any situation should be able to heal faster than it can be damaged by a single player using any of the main weapons!
The fast TTK and the regenerating shield are linked mechanics. With a longer TTK, the presence of the regenerating shield would make it very hard to get ranged kills, since everyone would be able to make it to cover before they got downed. You could counteract that by shifting the balance of survival even more toward Health, with smaller shields (Armor), but at that point why even bother having a regenerating shield mechanic? But I've been saying that since early alpha.
TTK for ranged weapons feels ok for me. TTK for melee weapons is definitely not ok: most of time you have no way to react. Fast attack spammers just give no chance to survive.
I would like if we were more resilent as well. I am more used to it now after playing for weeks but I think it would be more fun if we lasted longer.
Ah yes, the Git Guud remark again, my awerness is fine tyvm. I guess i should not have made the title TTK, and more about the One Shots that occur in this game, my fault as my post is all about the one shots, anything other then the basic guns gibs people insanely fast.
Fast TTK? Apparently OP constantly exposes himself to the line of sight of multiple havocs, because EC got one of the SLOWEST TTK of any shooters out there.2
