Common sense does, small fuel and powder propelled rockets should be able to travel such a distance, normal Rl bullets can so I don't see why 41st millenium bolters' couldn't.
I won't reiterate what probably dozens of people have said to you in other comments so here is some encouragement from an alpha tester who has tested a few games. Alpha testing kind of sucks. You get to see tons of decisions that you vehemently disagree with. Sometimes you are wrong, sometimes you are right, but you always feel like your opinion doesn't matter and it kind of doesn't. The best thing you can do when you feel like this is leave. Take a break. This game is broken, unbalanced and incomplete. Go find some finished games that you love or a book that you have been putting off. Stop posting on the forums, stop checking the twitter feed for a month or so and just enjoy something you know is finished.
It isn't about how far the round can travel, but how far it has killing power. Real life people don't have carapace armor.
Ok we need more than one round to down a marine in EC anyway, the drop off mechanics is in place in EC for the game it is supossed to be, I have nothing against it however in 'real\lore' WH40k I think bolter rounds would be deadly past 100 meters, just my assumptions tho.
Plasmacannon can kill any class reliably if you know how to use them. It is a good feeling as well seeing someone charge at you and having a charged plasma shot ready for them and in a worst case scenario, you can go out kamikaze style by aiming it at your feet if they are too close. Get good with the lob feature also and you can use it effectively at close range. They will not be able to dodge out of the way of it like the standard shot either. Also if they do engage you in melee and you are quick enough to stun them, jump back/dodge and you sometimes have just about enough time to get one charge in which is a great HA! moment if you can pull it off. The biggest problem with Ranged vs melee at close quarters is panic. Never panic or you are dead. D-bash, roll, back peddle, shoot/chuck grenade, repeat and if that isn't working try D-bashing until help arrives. Failing that, die and practise more.
They cannot travel that distance because 40K is the future. Future weapons must be crappier than current "primitive" weapons. Vehicles must be uncontrollable in the future. Safety regulations have gotten so severe that they prohibit shooting over railings. Humans genetically engineered to have superior strength must do a squirt squat when jumping down the smallest elevation. Everyone derps because people are incapable of turning while running or slowing down from a run. To prevent deaths from occurring human aim has been genetically modified to always select the enemies' cover rather than the enemy them selves. In the 41st millennium there is only war--because war has become so ineffective that it goes on forever.
The issue is this strategy works well against 1-2 enemies. but when youve got 1-2 jumppack units 3-4 Mark of Nurgels 2 sorcerers and maybe a havok all hitting you at once, the pure rush is something you cant deal with. You cant outrun them you cant face them and you dont have enough time to take them down before they engage you in mass numbers. Even when you have equal numbers you can attempt to pour on the damage and drop maybe 1-2 but then theyre all on top of you spamming dodgeroll/dodgeboost and melee attack. Your only option is to switch to melee which takes lots of time to deal with them because their so tanky. All the meanwhile the 1-2 people you dropped have respawned and rejoined the fight and the havok is unloading on you because your so preoccupied with the melee zerg. In typical situations where your fighting 1vs 1 or 3vs 3 you can deal with melee but it becomes an entirely different issue when its mass numbers of melee. Chaos seriously doesnt even need to use ranged weapons. Its way more effective to all go melee. Even in the crappiest situations I can still rack up some nice kills. Im not talking about my Kill to Death ratio being bad. I'm talking about functionality of the game.
Bullshit - nothing more, I have just played a game on Olipsis where coordinated and well thought LSM defeated Chaos although the battle was fierce until the last moments.
What exactly does that have to do with the argument that melee is right now stronger than ranged? LSm can use JPA and shieldbros too. And not every chaos team is spamming melee.
