lol my traitor build has a stalker bolter and never gets within 100M of a capture point
  3. All I know is we need less vacation downtime and more doubling down on game development time.

Especially if the much fabled summer launch is to ever be realistically reached.

  5. Back then, during the days when the MoN was admittedly OP a couple times, for several weeks at at time? MoN patch 16 was about the most balanced it's been, hoping to see that MoN GA back soon. Back when JPA was extremely dominant during early Alpha....

Pertaining to your statement, the "Now it is" portion. Mind posting the stats backing that statement? Source? links?

That's the second time you've miss spelt wrath, I ignored it on the VM website but here the public need to know that some of us in VM can actually spell. :p

    Now onto the main topic:

The state of the game is currently terrible and not very enjoyable as a whole. People keep saying this game is an Alpha and while that is strictly true with the information we have been given one of four statements must be true:

    The Bad:
    1. The game is not actually an Alpha as the release date is within a few short months and what we've seen so far will be similar to the launched product.
    2. The game is an Alpha but given the fact the game releases very soon, Beta and post asset production and optimisation will be very short, resulting in an unpolished game with many balance and stability issues that are quite frankly unacceptable in a 'finished', fully released product.
    The Good:
    1. The game is in Alpha and will release in a few short months but the devs have only shown us the tip of the iceburg in terms of what work has already been finished and the launched game will look totally different and take us all by surprise.
    2. The game is in Alpha and the release will be significantly delayed to allow the devs to produce a polished, high quality game of a reasonable breadth and depth.

So in short yes it is an Alpha but that mantra is wearing thing and my optimism as well as too many others has been worn down by frustration into bare cynicism and scepticism. While I hope and would love EC to be the game we all cherish and desire - the true-amaze balls large scale war game that 40K needs, I have growing concerns the game will crash and burn or simply fail to achieve the ambitions of both the devs and the player base.
  7. I feel almost positive that the Orks will drop full faction in one patch unlike the Eldar.

And it sounds like it will be within the next 2-3 weeks. That alone is a huuuge chunk of burden to get off their shoulder and feel closer to a "finished" launch ready game.

Honestly they could just hold off on PvE Tyranids until after launch and I don't think anyone would care.

Personal opinion. Since we have no new metrics until BeHaviour gives us some new ones. And i´m pretty sure you know there are no sources. Not for my opinion not for anyones.

I say melee is way more effective this patch because we got a ranged weapon recoil revamp. It basically stops you from running and gunning. Before you could simply autofire on anyone with a boltgun on any distance. Now you need to aim carefully take 5 shots and wait till the recoil resets again. This does reward tactical play more in my opinion. Getting in a good position to shoot. You need to think now what to do as ranged instead of just charging around dropping people. Aiming is more important. Before you could simply hipfire.

I personally think this is a step in the right direction. Guns feel well more like guns now. But it does create some problems that need fixing. First of Stream of corruption. Before with pinpoint accuracy of boltguns you could easily follow the KILLMEBEAM and take the Sorc out. (Unless maybe he is cheesing from the Harkus wall) Now you can take 5 shots before you can´t hit shit due to recoil. You need 11 bolts to down him. (16 with MoN). In that time you will probably be poisoned to death.

Second is melee. Before due to the crazy accuracy of guns you were easily able to use your ranged advantage to kill or at least hurt enemies significantly. Now due to the recoil the effective range of guns went down alot. Also as ranged you need to play tactically now. Getting in a good position aim etc. Instead of just running and gunning. Melee on the other hand just needs to the exact same thing as before get there and start the melee fight.

In short i think ranged was nerfed while melee was untouched. (Dont get me wrong the new recoil system is way better and i highly approve of it)

  9. Some good points, though I have to remind everyone of the fact that melee rules have been broken the entirety of patch 18, and patch 17 broke melee lock. Dbash > all, works in favor of ranged classes because Melee classes cant break the bash with Strong Attacks like they're supposed to(like they did in patch 16). There's also the fact that clanging rules have been totally broken the entirety of patch 18, with the Fist clanging versus the knife 3, 4, 5 times. Patch 18, I wielding a Power Sword I clang, 6, 8, 10 times versus the knife, almost the same number of clangs with my Axe vs knife. I'd bring up the videos but at this point why bother.

Melee's been so frustrating and inconsistent I haven't played more than 3 hours on the LIVE EA server since patch 18 dropped. Granted I didn't play melee at all the first several weeks of Alpha, until the first big melee patch dropped.

I'd be interested in seeing Noah post the most recent metrics and see how the various classes and builds are faring.

Can´t argue melee being inconsistant and broken.
