The state of EC on Steam

The founder's program went in at the very start, way before even the final team was assembled, the partnership with bandai and nathun took over from Miguel Caron or even the steam early access program (that got them more income and "new" customers with lower expectations).
When all those changes happened, the founders (who had kickstarter the project with the initial wave of pre-orders) were assured the original idea was not going to be lost in development, by Miguel, by nathun. It was because of those "garantees" that a lot of people didn't get refunds early and decided to trust the new leadership.

And then they slowly changed the scope of the game, secretly edited the FAQ regarding access to the alpha, delayed things over and over again (the eldars have at LEAST been delayed 6/7 times and all this is on the old streams).

And now here you are. 1 month from launch, barely 40% of the content in (EVEN if we consider the early access approach and think the game is cool as it is, it is STILL missing tons of stuff that can't be added in considering their usual working speed). Either that or they also been lying about their work capacity.

And the only thing you've got is a disgusting powerpoint image with stupid buzzwords that mean nothing in terms of gameplay and another promise from nathun that they'll developp for 10 years and that it's absolutely normal to not release finished (aka it WILL release unfinished).

I can understand ppl wanting this to work real bad. We all want a massive 40K game.
But I can't understand when you keep beating a dead horse and refuse to see it's been a giant scam

I've actually went back to playing planetside 2. I founded/tested that game, and got what founders were promised. Only left in the first place because life.

it wasn't the partneship with bandai that was supposed to provide the funds, while the founders program certainly started after the first FAQ where the game was already stated to be funded (in the sense that a game will reach launch whether the amount of dollars from founders).
the question about where the proofs about the game reaching launch only thanks to the founders lay remains.

Not that I'm doubting it not being as you say, considering everything that has happened, but I like to keep assumptions separated from facts anyway.

    What you're saying is true.
However I am (and i don't think other ppl here are) not trying to convince ppl to write bad reviews.
We are looking at why the game has them and expressing our concerns for the actual launch.

But if we follow your logic, think about what is going to happen when all those silly founders who should keep their complaints to private leave the game after a few weeks of being ignored and/or taunted by "true fans"? Who will be left to play with you if you lose 50% (you know what let's even say 25% for the sake of argument), of your playerbase right at/after launch? Do you realize how small the playing pop is atm? How long are the queues for bigger map(s)?

Do you know a game that launched unfinished and worked? With a 10 year development plan? without being free to play? (thinking about warframe).
nathun uses EVE as an exemple. The mmo part of eve was already at launch. 90% of the game was already at launch.

Free expansions are free expansions if there is something to expand from. Releasing core content after launch is not a gift, it's a flaw.
What EC is proposing to you is "free game finishing" over more time.

At the end of the day you do whatever you want, I'm just worried you are being overly confident and maybe a bit gullible considering the last 2 years of EC shenanigans.

I'm not saying I'm more intelligent than you Jacen. What I'm saying is simple; I don't cry or ask for my money back if I bet on a horse to win a race and it loses. That's life. That's what you did when you put your money on the table for a game that wasn't made. I'm more conservative with my funds so I didn't purchase until all factions were in like a week or so ago. You can't complain that you aren't getting what you expected because that is very possible given the nature of the agreement you entered with Behaviour when you paid for founders' access.

My other point is that I reviewed the game, as it is now. I don't review the dev team. I don't review the history, how they got here. I don't review what I expect to happen in 12 months or whatever. I review what is here now and I gotta be honest I really enjoy it. So I gave it a thumbs up.

Like if you have a bit more positivity and try to see the good things here, you might be happier that you paid $120 and not feel like you wasted it? I mean are you seriously not going to log in when the Founders weapons are in, just to Lord them over everyone else for a bit if nothing else? I mean it's what you paid for so you might as well!

This is not factual. There was no kickstart for this project. It was fully funded without Founders cash. Making things up does not help the discussion.

Yes, Nathun kept saying that the game was fully funded and that the money from the pre orders would make even more content. But now all of the sudden they have run out of money.

I no longer believe what was said about the game being fully funded.

I did not hear that they ran out of money. I heard they hired an additional 40 developers 5 or 6 weeks ago. That takes all kinds of money.
  9. I am founder since day one and even if I remember with nostalgy the hype of the first streams, I never thought that they would fulfill all the promises in time or even at all. I think there are very few games that meet all their initial objectives.
EC is the first time I decided to fund a game before its production. It was an act of faith, not a contract. I really feel sorry for the founders that feel betrayed, but even if I acknowledge that I was expecting more content and more features for launch, I do not share their feelings. I still have faith like day one. I still hope they will be able to add more content and features regularly.

I don't think there were shenanigans. I am not overly confident in the game's success. I do think bEhaviour has been honest, even if I think they made some mistakes in their management of players expectations. I even posted something about that in Ask the team section : http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/thr...the-management-of-players-expectations.54976/.

There has been difficulties during developement. They were forced to delay some features. That is bad indeed. Such things happen very often in game development.

I will review the game as it shows itself at launch, with its bugs and balance issues if they're still here. But of course my review will be positive because right now I am already having fun playing it.

  10. Well this should give you a general idea how the "suits" don't care about this shitty game and how it's not going to be developed in the future.
