    "if you can't kill people as a AS is because you are a noob that try to outperform other class in THEIR specialization"

    That's harsh Tarl. I think it was pretty conclusive.

    He referenced the Sorcerer Hero only because some complain that the AS isn't a DD specialist as they are in TT/lore.

    The lack of satisfaction with the long answer is rooted in disapproval of the firm "no" he originally gave. He's crafted it 5-6 ways now trying to put the topic to bed. The answer is: no they aren't comparable in DDing because that's not necessary in the tactical asymmetric game design that forces reliance on a team. That answer is rock solid, is there another question ?

    @The_Dokta you keep saying "Mage" but a Mage in RPGs is just a magic user, typically offensive . You mean Cleric, right or are you referencing a particular game ?

    I suppose the solution of listing the actual powers that they plan to be availible to the AS for launch is too much to ask?

    leaving elite/heros and the post launch stuff ("god marks" etc) for another time and a different set of questions,

    and if direct attack "spells" are totally off the board for the AS (I dont mean debuffs) then would anyone care to explain the
    reference?

    EDIT

    I can live with the "lesser defense" meaning that the AS wont be able to progress their armour as fully as another class or get access to the lil accessories that would make it tougher,

    I can live with the "lesser offense" meaning the AS wont be able to progress their pistol/forceweapon as fully as another class that would make them more deadly,

    those points have been explained sufficiently for even myself to understand the mechanics behind even if I dont personally agree with them

    Yes it would apparently, as the game doesent even have the power system implemented yet. If you followed alphas in general they dont list the entire spell/ability rosters to anyone at those stages, mostly cause they arent finished. And they already slipped on that banana peel by putting Terminators in the class roster without being 100% sure they are in.
    So yeah, having a clear and concise roster of abilities wont be happening for a long time.

    They didnt even want to comment on what the God Marks bring in a few Q&A's back, cause its not even something they started to work on.

    Can you explain if sorcerer and warlock might have more offensive abilities rather then simple buff/debuff, warp abilities comparable to ranged weapons for example? (in a bit more detail, how the offensive loadout of the Sorcerer/Warlock will work)?

    BRENT ELLISON: Yes, although the purpose of the Aspiring Sorcerer and Warlock are to be force multipliers on other classes so they’ll never be AS powerful with their individual offensive capabilities. Whether through healing, buffing, or debuffing they make melee, ranged and heavy classes more powerful. So there will definitely be some psychic shooting, but you won’t want to have a group of 10 Aspiring Sorcerers instead of 8-9 Tacticals + 1-2 Aspiring Sorcerers.


    At this early stage of balancing how is having the CSM's "medic" option (term used loosely) providing support from much greater range than the Apothecary intended to distinguish the way CSM squads fight from their LSM cousins ? What effective range are we talking about for their abilities, like removing the Danger State ? Are there planned builds for both the Warlock and AS to effectively integrate into specialist squads that prefer both ranged and melee combat (which adding a Boltgun to the Apothecary armory allows) ?

    BRENT ELLISON: It’s difficult to talk about balancing for features that aren’t in yet, but we’re going to start by putting regen powers at 30m max range and see how that works. Psychic shooting attacks are similar effective ranges to boltguns without scopes, so the first ones we implement will work best at 60m or less (max range will be farther ofc). If you want to integrate to a ranged group, you should take those psychic powers and whatever you think will benefit ranged friends and harm ranged enemies. If you want to integrate to a melee group you should take better Force Weapons and nova powers, as well as blessings that you think will benefit melee friends.

    and would it of been such a drama for brent to reference those particular lines in his answer to the Q&A I was refering to since they do actually answer the question that was posed by whoever it was that asked it

    and I think most of us are happy enough to get a "its a WIP" answer and wait for the info when its availible

    Aye its from other batches of the Q&A compilation thread, for ease of searching use the ctrl+f function to search.

    I do believe they are overflowing with work to do something like that, as you can see he isnt even on the forum at all anymore as to the comparison with how it was before, with him being quite present. I do agree it would have been good for him to condense all the points from the previous threads in 1 (so people dont have to link), but i understand that hes probably busy as is.

    Well i dunno, im personally allot happier to read text walls from him then get a simple "WIP". Maybe its just me but it feels more like something is progressing (even if its in the thoughts stages) rather then being oblivious if it is when you get a WIP in yo face.

    I've become very wary of "thoughts in progress" since they have lead to some of the larger misunderstanding on the forum where forumites have taken a Devs personal comments as a confirmation only to find out its not

    and I'll admit that like most of us here I am guity of skimming posts while trying to keep abreast of thread development etc,

    but I dont think I've seen those particular "psychic shooting" quotes referenced very much at all in either this or the warlock thread where much of this DD debate has occured

    Well, i do post every relating post to the Sorcerer discussion in this thread (including the ones i quoted for you now), and have from a few days ago updated the OP with everything.
    You might have skimmed over it, its a decently long thread now, which is why i started updating the OP so everyone has an easy view of every info tidbit.
