I disagree with you. In PlanetSide 2, arguably the following are the biggest factors in fights of any size above minor skirmishes: Number of medics Leaders in skilled platoons MAX pushes Skilled G2A pilots Any vehicle that's not spammed to oblivion is useless. Regarding skilled platoons, I've seen groups like Knights of the Veil (KOTV) hold back entire zerg rushes, impressively and skilfully. In Battlefield 4, medics are far less useful than they were in previous games because you bleed out insanely fast.
My point being, is that at some point you're going to actually have to start killing the opposition. If everyone does more damage than a sorc/warlock, then sooner or later said sorc/warlock is not going to have enough healing throughput to justify their position on the battlefield. If they did have enough healing, then queue cries of 'overpower and need a nerf.'
good point it needs a healthy balance, perhaps as has been stated earlier we should be able to lean our sorcerrors to a damage, harassing or medic role.
I've seen the Aspiring Sorcerer and so far, so good. However one minor detail about his design has been bothering me. The helmet. Like much of the Aspiring Sorc, it is based of the CSM squad, more specifically the helmet liked below. http://www.bitzarium.com/en/chaos-space-marines/350-head-4.html Yep, it's the one with the skull one it. A skull. Khorne. Say what ypu wan't, but I feel it just doesn't fit. If they want to go with the basic CSM kit, that's absolutely fine to me, but maybe another helm? Like this: http://www.bitzarium.com/en/chaos-space-marines/352-head-6.html Or this: http://www.bitzarium.com/en/chaos-space-marines/349-head-3.html Stands out like a sore thumb, just as the Devs wanted. Or this: http://www.bitzarium.com/en/chaos-space-marines/348-head-2.html Borderline demonic/draconic without looking like something posessed. Of all basic CSM helmets, it catches the Sorc vibe the best for me, blending in well with the dragonmouth-backpack AND standing out as well. It's just a minor thing though, but a skull hemet for a sorceror...just nah.
Skulls are hardly Khorne exclusive, he's just really into them. But regardless, like they said it's just the base helmet, it's not like it's our only option, I know I'll be ditching it for something better once I unlock it, but as basic equipment at least it's different than the Tactical's helmet, a bit of variety even at the start.
As Tortor said, you arent stuck with it. This game will live off cosmetics, one would think you will have excess of replacement helmet styles to choose from.
Agreed with the Dokta also. If displaying skulls were purely Khorne then LSM Chaplains would be doomed . But the EC guy is definitely a realistic starting point for getting to GW's models imho. I can see him getting towards here without much work and the helm isn't screamimg "sorcerer !" like some of the older models (which are all Sorcerer Lords now in TT anyway): This is one of those RPG elements that's actually a good thing. An Aspiring Sorcerer straight out of the gate is not much more than a standard CSM with a single spell or two. The Chaos Legions don't heap rewards on a dabbling Sorcerer on his first day, the starting armor is meant to be unimpressive like any MMO ... But ... What's important is that BHVR will end up giving us a ton of helm options like the helm examples you gave
The aspiring sorcerer model was revealed along side an updated raptor model that no longer looks like a tactical with a jump pack. The sorcerer is planned for having a pistol and melee weapon loadout choice and the spell classes were revealed to be Witchfires, Maledictions, Blessings, and Novas, but we have yet to see psyker powers in action, however the Sorcerers melee strength appears to be adequate with a single unblocked power swing able to kill an Assault Marine.
Nice, sounds like they took some of the info we put on the forums to heart. Now we just have to wait and see. Thanks for the summary.
