You do know what lock means right? Means you cannot move it unless you change the locked target, which was never stated. Thats what im correcting your about here. Target lock is the trademark of tab targeting MMOs, also appearing in some games like for example Dark Souls. However he stated that you extend your hand towards areas you want to channel the ability to. Id reckon it isnt a change of mechanic, cause the second batch was kinda rushed (only got it a day after the answers of the first batch, even seen Brent come the same day) so i think it was simply a misuse of words. And channeling while ofc requiring aim doesent exclude training on someone, actually they absolutely go hand in hand with one another. Like in Diablo, where you can channel a beam that you then continuously train on groups of enemies till your mana is depleted, probably similar as to how it will work in EC (just with Warp Charge instead of mana).
either way, currently the information availible for these two classes has significantly decreased my interest in them, and until we get information about directly targeted attack powers I'm putting both classes firmly into my "not interested" catagory, in a game where finding yourself alone (wether through death of your teammates or by isolation by architecture/obstructions/distance) a player class that has less effective offensive capability is a lame duck, less offensive potential then ranged classes, less offensive potential then melee classes less mobility then melee classes, remaining motionless to use their power, major risk to self when using their power, being the class an enemy will want to kill first to weaken your teammates, all in all doesnt sound very enticing to me lol
Im still convinced they wont be the butt of the joke class, they will find them a good role surely. I guess we can only wait and see till they put in psychic powers, which seems to be coming in after the Sorcerer. Which is odd and im not getting what they are on about. BRENT: That’s actually very soon, the tasks have been made are currently in the queue and the sorcerer’s model is being put together right now. We’re going to do a full implementation on the Apothecary first since he’s faster in terms of features and the Sorcerer’s mechanics will be placeholder until the psychic powers system comes in, but it’ll let us feel out the role of the support class in a group. Im not seeing what they mean by placeholder mechanics. Nor how they will be able to "feel out" the role of him in a group without his actual mechanics.
the gods alone know mate, I wasnt expecting a "lighting chucking" DPS master class but considering its a PvP game everyones going to have to be able to carry their own weight in a fight, hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised but forgive me if things are looking a bit grim for the sorc/warlock in my eyes lol
Lol no prob, everyone has their view on how they would like their class to come out, i personally as a Nurgleite (and playing condition Necro in GW2 since launch all day erry-day!) like my slow and horrible wilting abilities. Granted its still only a miniscule source of info we are debating here, if we recall from way back when i started this thread: "I think you can probably expect the god-specific powers to work similarly to how you describe. Tzeentch blasts would be more direct, Nurgle doing damage over time, and Slaanesh probably including some other nasty effect along with the damage." So perhaps the basic archetype wont be focused on direct DPS, but Brent did say that Mark of Tzeentch will lead you more towards the direct path of DPS. And cause we know the mark itself will be deciding your arsenal of psychic powers, id reckon theres still hope for your trigger happy face melter Aspirant if you build him towards that end (im guessing Brent doesent have everything he ever said in his noggin). The current plan is to have mostly god-specific powers and a few undivided. Your "mark" determines which pool of powers to draw from, something that actually makes these things a lot easier to balance and therefore the powers can be stronger since we don't have to worry about so many broken combos.
What i'm hoping for Slaanesh to be the buff/debuff/heal spec. That way we could fill the role of Apothecaries, numbing Marines to pain or giving them an adrenalin high.
aoe channeled attacks sounds really cool. Cant wait to have a tzeenthch saucyror raining down warplightning on an area be pretty intense! Will there be a small or large aoe for most attacks do you think op? Edit@ I also want an aoe that causes a load of daemonic hands to erupt from the ground and grab enemies or allies who are too close kicking and screaming into the warp.
I'm really not interested in a debuffing class. Spells sure, but if that's the archetyped role, then I find that rather disappointing. Surely they can balance an attack based sorcerer, one where you basically just assist other players kills feels like a disservice.
I guess it's just cuz I'm a Nurgling and I love my family, but I would actually prefer a buff/debuff heavy class. "You get some poo, and you get some poo! Poo for everyone!"
