TTK is too low. Warparty's aren't here yet. *angry face. Chain sword needs some work. Plasma Cannon needs some work. That should be about it for now, there are threads about most of the things in my list so I won't get into it, but those are the main things that I have issue with.
I've just had a thought. Are they going to continue to push the 'open world' idea through the UI, or just go for match making? Like, if they're just going to push the game to be a lobby shooter, then they have a goal no problem, all the above issues are still issues but whatever. But if they still try to go for an open world 'feel' to the game.. is that going to mix with the obvious lobby game? For example, is there still going to be some continent map where we select drop points (maps) etc? Is the UI still going to show it as an open world, when we drop into a map do we go in with a party like a lobby game or do we have to find our friends, the matches are no persistent, they're just matches so how will it work? If all the drop points/maps/matches full, is there going to be another match or what? How will this appear to players jumping in-game? Or will it just be some fancy map browser with a quick game button on the side? You cant really mix lobby and open world together very well, and clearly they cant dedicate their time to it... so how is it going to work? With that, are character slots still a thing? Will factions matter? How does the war council work now since there are matches? So many questions, kinda seems like the devs have shot themselves in the foot.... PREPARE YOUR TONGUES FOR THE TASTE OF SALT http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/lets-just-make-it-a-lobby-game.52514/
The many Non-Founders like myself don't have access to the Founder Sub-Forum, which means we miss out on a lot of the conversations and info about the games development... which makes me extra salty.
here: Ok. Radical idea here. Obviously the Open World is just not going to work. The game is now being made as more of a lobby shooter, but is still trying to have Open World ideas, this is going to cause a lot of problems in the future if you can use your imagination for a few seconds and realize why. I'll explain it anyaways. Basically, with the Match battles rather than open maps and stuff, there is going to be some problems with how the game works. Is there still going to be some map UI that shows the continent and all the 'drop zones', are the zones just matches, are they persistent? What if the game is full, are we pretty much going to be doing match making trying to get into a game anyway? How is this going to work? Is the continent map just a glorified map selector? I could go on, I dunno if you get what I'm trying to say or not, just try to. So, basically what I'm saying is, just set a goal of making a lobby game. A lobby game being, you search for game, find game, in lobby that shows other players, you select class, go into game etc etc. Battlefield, COD, Battlefront, etc etc. Sounds stupid, sounds generic, but at this point I'd prefer there is at least some goal for launch besides "lets just get in what we can, make sure there are 4 factions, who cares how the openness of the world works". Have all maps as large as the fortress map, have lots of heart and soul go into making them interesting and fun. Have a bunch of game modes, throw in a payload mode, capture the relic, who cares? Just get shit in there so we're not just playing 'what could've been better simulator'. I dont care if this shit is just thrown in, currently there are about 5 maps, none are very interesting, capture the points is boring and with so little content at launch people are going to drop out fast. Just get in there, push out a lot of content by launch, stop trying to have some 'future goal' as the selling point for the game and get shit done. At this point, a generic lobby shooter with large maps and 40k skin is a lot better than half ass 'soon to be slightly bigger maps and things' the video game. I dunno about you lot, but this sounds very appealing to someone who just wants some direction in the development of this game. (Additions) Look. Large maps. 50v50 at launch Skins Mutliple modes Achievable goals Much more flexibility with content. No need to waste time trying to get the game to be open world, which will take like 3-4 years. More flexible customization since the open world bs is just limiting it. Better party/warparty systems. Better guilding. Better matchmaking. Better use of server tech. UI wont be semi-match making / open world ish. Tyranid survival dungeons would actually work. No restricting race to race with maps
I understand, I just think it's a terrible idea. Going further away from an Open World is the exact opposite direction the devs should be heading. Abandoning the Open World would make me super salty.
But I'm not saying abandon or go the opposite way. I'm saying just at least give the game some kind of foundation and dont just leave everything as a work in progress.
well what i think is lets have faith in developers . They also care about the game . They have money invested in this project . We cant force them to give us what we want . now it comes to my problems 1 RTS items were very expensive 10k points for just a night lord bolter :O !! 2 I will be not allowed in founders server { why the hell ?i have pioneer pack which makes me a founder and a steam early access to get the game key } 3 noise marines plague marines khrone berserk etc all post launch far in the future i think 4 just a lobby shooter player jump from game to game if they have a goal to make a game live for 10 yrs then we need something solid to be attracted to !!! 5 very high latency making melee hard for me 6 No news on Orks .... devs are saying summer release which sounds dreams to me ......... 2 full factions still to come . 2 sub faction of SMs progression tree etc list goes on .... if they launch the game without being complete it will be a disaster ...
That... doesn't make sense. They're supposed to make what we want, or we wont play it. If they care about the game then they should see that it is actually playable and enjoyable, currently it isn't.
