To my knownledge, there's various degrees of "Black skinned Salamanders." Some are Terran-Born Salamanders and there's even one Salamander that was transfered from Black Dragons. They spend time on Nocturne too though, which makes their skin Alot darker as they adapt. The black skin trait is even described as a thing that's viewed as a "brand" or shared mark which they view as kinda of a fellowship/brotherhood thing. Oh well, most if not all is Coal Black. Definantly! It's him, after he was kicked out a window, he landed on a Thunderhawk.
I always thought the reason they're skin colour turns Onyx is because the radiation on Nocturne mixed with the gene seed of the Salamanders makes them that way.
It is indeed that too, yet there's appearantly many that doesn't turn that dark trough that process. Where as once they settle in Nocturne on the Settlements, the rest of the colour follows. Like that one guy that transferred from Black Dragons to Salamanders. That's atleast what I got from a few books and reading. Specially the fact that they view it as a way to get closer to their Primarch and view it as a "Fellowship" thing as said. (I don't even know if Fellowship is a word, oh god..) Atleast a thing they all share in-common and use as their identity. And happy vacation man.
Fellowship is indeed a word. Lord of the Rings also used fellowship (of the ring)... Not convincing enough? Okay. I cast internet! friendly relationship; companionship. Example: the fellowship of father and son of Primarch and astartes then by association other astartes! (Google search "Fellowship" for a better audio example)
Here, have some Salamanders Primarch before vote announcement on stream. Primarch Vulkan - IGNEUS by NicolasRGiacondino @DA. XVIII Primarch Vulkan concept sketch 4 by Saint-max @DA. - also has awesome works of the other Primarchs as a Project here. And 2 cool quotes. "You have suffered. I know this. You have come to the abyss, and almost surrendered yourselves to it. That changes now. I am father, general, lord and mentor. I shall teach you if I can, and pass on the knowledge I have gained. Honour, self-sacrifice, self-reliance, brotherhood. It is our Promethean creed and all must adhere to it if we are to prosper. Let this be the first lesson..." — Primarch Vulkan in his inaugural address on Nocturne to the survivors of the XVIII Legion "On the Anvil of War are the strong tempered and the weak made to perish, thus are men's souls tested as metal in the forge's fire." — The Primarch Vulkan
Apparently Salamanders are too busy saving humanity and being nice guys to join Eternal Crusade. You guys should vote for your fellow Drop Site survivors, the Raven Guard. Imperial Fists will most likely win but there should at least be a challenge from where it's least expected.
I echo this! Vote Raven Guard! It really sucks that the Salamanders aren't on the vote and I hope the Sons of Vulkan arrive before too long on pillars of flame!
