.... oh-kay ... I think you may have taken my tiny bit of levity the wrong way somewhat. If anything though I am slightly surprised you didn't mention all the other troops also fighting at the Battle of Thermopylae I tried to work out what gender appeasement might be, but I couldn't work out what Neville would have written on his piece of paper. Anyhow, I still think a Halo RP could work well.
Hey all, sorry for not posting these past couple days. Don't wanna fill the tavern with personal stuff so I'll just say its family what nots Regardless been a bit emotionally drained, but I'll get back in the swing of things by tomorrow!
I wasn't talking of the RP that was being planned, in specific. I was plain talking of RP in general x-x One reason I tend to avoid these tavern things is how confusing and angry it gets so easily. No, I did not know there was any timeline posted or anything of the sort. I just opened up earlier today to see that the topic was "halo RP being shot down", so I threw up my hand to show interest so it'd get off the ground. There's 570-ish posts, and the last time I'd opened this thing was when it was at 550 or so: I'm not going to search through every little one of 'em for it. What I basically said: RPing a Spartan (I, II or III) would be difficult to get into the mindset of for some people. Hence, ODST's and Marines, TO ME, would be preferable.
Well that was 300 taken to defend the Hot Gates, they had a lot more that wasn't sent to war. I watched 300 so I know... That shit is 100% accurate. Also the Spartans have the power to slow time... I remember the first time I played Halo ODST and thought I've got this shit I've played 3 on Legendary, went up to a Brute hit them and they proceeded to pummel my face into the ground. Never forget. All and all ODST was fucking great game. Too bad they didn't keep firefight the same from that.
The Spartans had female military detachments but overall it was levies of civilians that fought back then. In reality, the true core of a military force would only be deployed once the skirmishing formations of civilians had exhausted the enemy of their missiles so that the primary host could attack. This style of combat persisted up until the High Renaissance which is why nobility tended not to die out on the field because everyone else would die first. Lol, I used to solo Hunters in melee on Legendary with most skulls active in ODST. Shit was easy even with the lower jump height if you knew how to surf their shields because their melee attacks are predictable. The problem most people had with it was that they weren't used to no shields and no health regeneration. I used to main games where you died in one shot and you couldn't ADS. Dammit, I know I should have paid for the unlimited hashtag dataplan.... Heh. Now THAT was funny :3 I had a project about Sparta in 8th grade or so, was actually interesting stuff the fact that you know, the Spartans were only a small part of the group that went to the hot gates. And Ephialtes in the movie was totally made up because it's greek or something for 'Traitor'. In reality one has to assume the Persians found the way around and surrounded the greek force, killing them all. :3 -puppybee hugs nonetheless-
