We roleplayed together and I do indeed remember you. Some of us wondered where you went off to. :/

Welcome back! Its always good to see a roleplayer return!

I have witnessed your attempt at Halo RP and I must say that I am rather disappointed at some of the folks here reacting as they did.I get it.Some of the peeps don't like it or don't like to RP in it for - whatever reason. The reasoning behind it, may not be so important as the sole fact that they don't like it or don't like to RP in it.

In this subsection of the Forum, due to lack of modernation I like to think that we are mature enough to respect everyone`s wishes as long as they are reasonable.
Unless we succumb to fits of teodogmatic-spewing rage. But that doesn't count!

If I may be so bold to propose - I say you repeat the request in a year or so.Peeps here were quite cold to proposal of anything Mechanicum in the past.

Now some of them holler for the Adeptus Mechanicus RP.
I say you wait until some awesome piece of media in the said universe shows you.Interest will definetly be piqued. :3

You could attempt one, or at least help out @DaKaptin with his current one.
Illinois Wasteland seems to be struggling with activity, and I`d hate if I had to dedicate that one to the Repository too. :/

Hah...you are a good sport about it.I just hope Vulpas will follow suit and not bring fire and brimstone upon me.
Your RP does not count!Everyone gets wordy there - it is most fitting for kanila to be allured and fall to the same artistic passion as everyone there has.
When I think about it, it can be quite excessive...

    I...might?

    Hah...you jest most poorly!

    Three days later...
Seventy two hours - Sol Standard - have passed and still no word from outside.Ever since I made that joking data-blurt to that 'EC' Manifold relay, some ancient darkness poured out from the nearby Webway gate. Its larger version that floats in the high-orbit of this blessed forge does the sameSuch oily black smoke, is for now - thank the Omnissiah - contained to a small area around the gates itself.Xenarites plead me to allow an expedition into the void, but I am afraid that may only further provoke the primordial fear.

'Contained' might be too strong a word here, for our attempts to push it back were always met with utter failure.Whatever the smoke touches, be it flesh or iron, it dies.Just falls on the dust-soothed earth and remains still, devoid of all life.
The shrieks that come with it - baffle my aural receptors.I`ve seen what effect it has on a lowly serf or a Tech-thrall...

Whatever keeps the smoke from spreading, I hope it lasts.

    - Day X-

For over a week now, the situation remained at the pleasing static pace of status quo.Nothing changed. If nothing changed - nothing can go worse, right? My apprenta has already broken though my aegis protocols and seen my behavorial patterns.Too gifted I always said. She calls me paranoid.Too afraid to act.Prehaps she is right, perhaps the weakness of flesh is too strong in me...but she does not know of the ancient horrors that lurk within EC relay.Curse be the day I logged to it and made that post.It cannot be a coincidence!

    -Day XI-
By the holy numeral, Omnissiah curse me!She went on had the artisan cadre build fortifications around the gate, in a effort to seal it of.As the dawn broke, they were all dead. Some of their boddies shredded to pieces, while others were felled with surgically-precise cuts.Constructs and battle-automatas were obliterated were they stood, only charred earth marks where they once stood. Not even scraps remain...nothing to recycle...

I have ordered High Primus and my brothers and sisters in orbit to be on high alert.

    -MXXXVII-
As I write this with a shaky auto-quill on this piece of crumbling parchment, I only hope someone will find it.Machine God abhors waste...so I hope something of...all of this...will remain, at least in this transcription of the tragic events that have befallen my forge and all those that were entrusted to my care.I will transcribe logs of mine onto this piece of parchment and enthrone it within this stasis field...
After I lost my apprenta and the anomaly...escalated, I have lost my temple and all adjacent forges in a series of what I can now see - before the end - with some sense of clarity denied to me in previous life, daring series of raids.I know well enough who they are...but others...they...didn't.I tried to warn them, but they would not listen. They had a duty to the forge and to the Omnissiah to keep it safe.
    Run I told them, run.
Two years passed since then, and I have waged never-ending war, battle after battle to push this darkness back.It spreaded, across the ground and across the sky.
I`ve lost contact with my brothers and sisters in orbit.I just hope they got away before we all got trapped into this...hell.
The black...is our lives now.The skies are black, the ground is black - the edges at my visions are coiling dancing shadows!
Thousand different shapes come from the oily smoke, death and ruin following swifly after them.Only me and half a clade of my loyal skitarii remain, and I can already hear their screams.

    Not the screams!

  3. @High_Adept_Zeth It's more of there's an extreme lack of a player base that enjoys Halo and an even larger one that is not former military. Those that have served almost always love the Halo universe because of how realistic it is but another part might be because of what was chosen as the premise: the Wars of Insurrection which is essentially both an all out war (similar to how CoD: Infinite Warfare's campaign played out) and also heavily insurgent. There was a lot of ignoring the rules of engagement and moral ethics during that war with the most notable being the SPARTAN project which anyone who only played the games would never know.

But it's none of my business if people don't want to play something that's human against human but it's acceptable to enjoy Chaos defiling a maiden.

(Warhammer bias is totally not a thing when it comes to the same scenario depicted over different time periods)

Are you running vista or something?!

I already am there in Chicago's wastes, killing so many Muties for America and the Enclave. Power Armour FTW.

I wasn't active when the Halo/UNSC RP was around, sounds interesting. Were you just Marines or Spartans or Elites?

Well, Dixie, you always knew it would end this way. At least you aren't accused of being a mutant.

  6. It's Insurrection Wars, that means UNSCDF/Unified Earth Government/Colonial Military Administration against the United Rebel Front/Secessionist Union. Essentially, the Wars of Insurrection made the UNSC the power house it is at the end of the Halo games in that they managed to seize full control from the civilian government in order to defend itself essentially installing their oligarchy which is totally not a dictatorship. Underneath the UNSC HIGHCOM, thousands of war crimes were committed in an effort to end the war but it wasn't until the Covenant showed up that humanity unified (mostly).

Both sides used nuclear weapons which were banned from use on civilian targets with the most notable incident being the destruction of Far Isle underneath operational code Bandersnatch which signifies a wide spread energy based disaster. The rebellion ended at the cost of most of the planet being cleansed by nuclear fires officially sparking the rebellion into a full out war.

The original start was the Callisto Incident in which the UNSC Callisto during a routine inspection ended up in a firefight of a civilian vessel upon which three UNSC Officers and 27 civilians were killed. The Callisto during a second inspection boarding was raided by the civilian crew and its surviving members executed. In response, the UNSC sent a task force of three light destroyers: UNSC Jericho, UNSC Buenos Aires, and UNSC Las Vegas which confronted the rouge Callisto. However during the engagement, a nuclear warhead was deployed against an asteroid and the UNSC Buenos Aires was destroyed, UNSC Las Vegas and Jericho were severely crippled with most of their officers KIA. This was the time Preston Cole rose to fame taking command of the Las Vegas and with a mock surrender, baited the Callisto into a boarding action upon which the crew of the Vegas fired an Archer missile directly into the cargo hold gutting the Callisto as it attempted to dock.

The UNSC would commence a total of six operations during the campaign to repress the Outer Colony rebellion underneath codenames: Charlemagne, Veritas, Kaleidoscope, Tanglewood, Trebuchet, and Talon spanning the years of 2494-2537 and then picking back up at the end of the Human-Covenant War which is still ongoing to present timeline. The overall goal of the Insurrection was autonomy from the Unified Earth Government but due to their economical importance, the UEG refused to back down and as such the war will never truly end.

  7. Well, to be fair I rather not see that happen, no matter the setting.

I also honestly just don't know that much about the halo universe before first contact with the covenant. You can also argue cultist vs. imperials is still human against humans, fighting in wars of faith, against what they see as tyranny or the end of their species. Hell, what would be against rules and regulations in Halo would probably be the norm in those kind of fights.

  8. I was implying that most people here were directly against being part of a war crime which would be a necessity in the Insurrection war. Deliberately killing civilians, pretending to be an Insurgent to bring support to the UNSC and bombing your own cities. The abduction of children for use in top-secret experiments including the SPARTAN program. The execution and mass genocide of several planets populations underneath suspected terrorism.

Meanwhile in Warhammer 40k it's purge the heretics, there's no connection because they aren't remotely innocent whereas Halo, you're connecting to a regular person who has far more in common with you because Halo isn't that far off from what we have today. If I told you to take this pistol and shoot your best friend in the head because his death would be worth more than him being alive to aide the war effort compared to interrogate that motherfucking cultist and find out where his daemonic cell is? You would easily say yes to the second because there's no connection but the first action would cause some discomfort to most people even though it's entirely fictional.

    @Kalle welcome back, you absence-having scoundrel :p

No, actually it's good to see you, it's always nice when the wanderers return.

@CommissarGaunt I don't know HALO, but even I know of it and I can't really see why Fallout would be popular and it wouldn't. I can speculate that the Warhammer (40k, principally) games are the most popular because people come here, to EC, looking for something Eternal-Crusade-related, which is going to mean Warhammer. We have the occasional other game, but to be honest it's not a surprise that this, which is really a 40k forum, gets the 40k games as a majority. That said, no reason why we shouldn't have other settings and as I say I don't see why not HALO particularly.

On a small but welcome note I actually haven't seen much evidence of "Slaanesh will violate you all, ha ha" nonsense, which is a good sign. I think the crowd here is generally a bit more mature than that, which is good to know. The same goes for handling the Dark Eldar / Dark Elf side of things. Like @Maleth , for example.

@High_Adept_Zeth But polysyllabic verbosity is my natural propensity!

Must be a case of Corporate Espionage. Enclave purity is infallible.

Eh Reach is about the earliest of Halo I know. Personally I see RP as RP not my actual actions.

If it was an RP of real life and whats happening now and someone did some war crimes then yeah I'd feel indifferent about it but RP is RP.
