  1. Temvero had been standing to the side, trying to decide what to do next. Upon hearing the name 'Draconian', though, he snapped out of his reverie, and looked over the New Salamander with astonishment.

    "Draconian... Drakken, is that you?"

"Apologies for my recent absence, Commander," replies Draconion, saluting with fist across chest, "My mapping expeditions proved more arduous and time-consuming than expected. I am glad to report that I have thus far mapped a substantial region of the sumps adjacent to our base area. More soberingly, there is also a low-level infestation of Warp denizens in the region. No identifiable centre as of yet, so it could be either residual stowaways from repeated journeys through the Warp, or else a series of transient anomalies allowing the dregs of the Warp to slip through. I have warded the hatches I used to access the sumps, and I will return to make them more permanent in the next seventy-two hours sidereal, as well as endeavour to identify all accessways to the sumps and ward and alarm them in similar fashion..."

Before he can continue, Draconion is suddenly struck by an overwhelming sense of grogginess, stirring into wakefulness. Once again, his vision is overlaid by the sight of another, peering about his workspace in the forge, seeking something and not finding it. A glimmering trail of both scent and psychic residue leads from his empty bench and out the bulkhead into the corridor. Stretching his wings - no, not his wings - he experimentally bounces into the air a couple of times before smoothly gliding off the top of the metal cabinet to follow the trail wherever it leads, eliciting startled exclamations and instinctive ducking from various people passing along the corridor. Out of sheer joy for flight and more than a little malicious satisfaction at causing alarm, he swoops, dives and barrel-rolls before picking up speed with powerful beats of newborn but already incredibly-strong wings.

Blinking to overcome the temporary sensory dislocation, Draconion focuses on Marmaroth once again.

"Er, as for other discoveries, Lord, there was one other," he says, glancing over his shoulder as he realises he can hear shouts in the corridor behind himself as well as the occasional crack of lasfire, "I think you are likely to see it shortly."

Sure enough, a scale-armoured creature - about the size of a large domestic cat - sails through the bulkhead into tacticae command on webbed wings, shouts, thundering footsteps and the odd lasbolt following close on its heels. While Draconion hastens to the bulkhead to sharply order the alarmed men to stand down, the little drakeling performs a couple circuits of the room's ceiling before alighting gracefully onto the deck next to Marmaroth. Evidently quite taken by whatever it perceives in the Returned One, it prowls about him, curiously nosing at his boots and glancing up at him with cocked head before finally deciding it likes him, licking his greaves a couple of times and nuzzling its head against him before stalking over to Draconion and sitting down next to his feet, insouciantly licking one clawed forefoot and ignoring everyone else in the room.

[OOC: For a sense of the timescale, this all happens very quickly, despite the long description.]

"...as I was saying, there was one other discovery," says Draconion, taking a deep breath after a brief, awkward silence and indicating the little creature with a wave of his hand, "This creature apparently stowed away in a gestational state within the sumps - fragments of eggshell are available for further study. Creature displays territorial aggression, ability of powered flight and also the capacity to breath high-temperature plasma over short distances. It also psychically active, with a high degree of intelligence and the capacity to share sensory and emotional content. Additionally, it has a significant Immaterial presence, yet appears firmly rooted in the Materium. This appears to draw Immaterial entities to it over short to medium distances, and there appears to be a significant degree of mutual antagonism between the two, leading to a hypothesis of either mutual territorialism or else predation between the species, further reinforced by the creature's tendency to feed on the enfleshed forms of daemons. In final analysis, I postulate that this is the first living specimen of Draco Draconis, or the winged dragon, ever seen in recorded Imperial history, of which fossilised remains have been found on Nocturne and elsewhere in the Imperium."

Blinking in the awkward silence that follows, he adds lamely, "It followed me home."

Only just noticing Temvero, he turns around, his face crumbling in disbelief as he approaches the newcomer.

"Tem? Temvero Va'Thun? By Vulkan, can it be you? How can...? They told me you died! You and all of Heart of Flame! How come you here?!" he exclaims, moving forward to grasp the other Salamander by his shoulders.

Even as he speaks, the levelheaded, paranoid part of Draconion that keeps watch over everything else peers into the Warp to scrutinise the Astartes before him, looking for anything out of place.

"Thank you then now where would Marmaroth be?" he asked he got up from the Table. The small animal from before came out from hiding again this time now Beside his master and looking up to him the Astarte Gaius. The Inquisitor stood with bandages over his side now likely changed.

    -Volorox
Volorox headed into his room and began work now spoofing it up and to rest after the days events he began examining this ancient relic looking at how it works and how it would help him in coming battles. He smiled looking at it though possibly a sign that things may be getting better.

  5. Temvero smiled, seeing an old friend after so long. "The rest, not me. They sleep in my soul, for now. As for how I got here, long story, I'll tell you over drinks." He looked at the dragon that had so dramatically appeared in the room. "And you got a Dragon friend. Damn... Anyway, about those drinks?" He asked again, quite desperate to catch up with his friend.

A long silence ensued, very long. What was he to do? Explain why he had done what he had done? Every factor that had infleuenced his deicision? The fact that he would be scratched from the records, or worse doomed as a traitor, letting history know that the house of Marshal would die excomunicated. Being played like fiddles by the unholy alliance, or what seemed like it at the time, as thousands had died for something that would be buried anyway? The lord chaplains obstinant refusal to negotiate? The death of his sole companion that had followed him through thick and thin? Too many things to even think of explaining.

For now though he simply stared at the bounty hunter and said: "If you think that I should die for what I did, then shoot me. I haven't a gun nor armour. Do it and make sure to note that another man died before he could repent for his deeds.

"Indeed, it seems we both have stories to tell, Tem," says Draconion, earnest in his bittersweet joy at the reunion, "But I must ask leave of the Commander first. He may have orders for me."

With that, he turns back to Marmaroth.

"Apologies, Commander. That was...unexpected. Have you any orders for me before I take my leave?"

After several minutes, the servitor was done with its work. Now dripping wet, the Rad Cleaning solution had dropped Ixtab's radiation to an acceptable level. But still he would need repairs for his critical systems. He moved behind the Ranger to the TechPriest. He again opened a vox link to her, but this would be the last time. Not enough strength to continue this way of communication and sooner or later there will be no other way.

"No priority over me. No orders to repair. Seeking repairs to all critical systems. This unit is asking for survey and assistance with all critical systems." Ixtab requested. While it came out loose and strange, he got his point across. He was asking as kind as he could for help.

    <Briefing>

After every introduction was finally over and the newcomers were brought to speed with the situation the Team was on, while on the other hand Hulk eventually reached the mysterious destination, Chaplain felt it was about time to explain everyone what were they doing here in the first place.

"Brothers and Sisters, welcome to Yaruga system," Marmaroth spoke to the gathered crowd inside of their new Command Room, watching picts of couple of planets before them as the Hulk violently broke into realspace. The image enhanced and they saw a dark yellow planet and a moon orbiting it. "The third planet of the system, the name given to her by ancient explorers is Ellander while the moon orbiting it is Caerne. It was first discovered during the Great Crusade, but the only thing we got from it is the name of the planet, couple of sentences describing it and a possible location on the star map. I say possible because from what our archives show, we are the first servants of the Imperium to visit it after more than 10 thousand years, although trust me when I say it, this is the place we seek."

"So why should an Emperor-forsaken place like this be of interest to us? Simply, because it interests the Unholy Alliance. This is something our late friend Inquisitor Pavel Van Morten investigated but came up with only partial evidence which thankfully I managed to get confirmation of. In both the secret archives we managed to acquire some time ago as well as documents gathered from dead servants of the Unholy Alliance, the system of Yaruga and its third planet are mentioned quite many times, saying that there is something on it, something so important that it could turn the tides of war in favor of whoever has it."

"The first ones who spoke of it were members of Thousand Sons Legion, who gave the first and only description of whatever that was, ominously naming it "Cry of Helios". It seemed that they never managed to retrieve it, or at least that's what the next documentation says, the writer being an Iron Priest of the Space Wolves Chapter. How the Fenrisians managed to acquire that knowledge is uncertain, although you can guess, but still they sent an expedition fleet to find the system and get whatever that thing was, forming 543rd Expedition Fleet under command of Dabog Ironhand. Whatever happened to them is unknown since the Imperium lost contact with them after they reached the Halo Stars and we never heard from them again."

"The proof that this is not some boogie tale is that during our search through the Segmentum, before most of you even joined this Team, me and Van Morten found couple of bases of Unholy Alliance which we scoured, finding couple of documents speaking of this "Cry of Helios" thing. So, since we were in the neighborhood, I decided to come and find this thing and learn the truth myself. Most of you already know my ways, so I will only say I found a way how to locate this particular system and, with the help of Angelous, bring us all here.

"Now, the important part. The long range scanners, at least those that we managed to turn on, show couple of things. First, Ellander is covered in huge desert from pole to pole, with only couple of interesting places to visit, one of which is this," further enhancing the picture, all of them could get a better look of the planet, more precisely one of its parts which showed lots of objects of different size, some kind of vegetation, all around something that looked like a river. "Yes, those objects are buildings and so far, it seems that the inhabitants are human. Of what kind, I have no idea but that will be your job to find out."

"The second interesting thing is the moon orbiting the planet. There is lots of interference involved, but we managed to get some kind of a signal from it matching Imperial frequencies. An S.O.S beacon, or at least that's what Angelous believes. The moon is practically a wasteland, because it's turning around quite fast and those parts that are turned towards the sun are covered in raging inferno storms while those that are not are cold and burned out, which means whatever survived that climate has my interest."

"I want two teams (OOC or more) on the ground, one with the tasks of investigating the settlement and the planet of Ellander and finding this "Cry of Helios" while the other should visit the moon and see what is making our scanners beep. As promised, Brother Feron will give final thoughts and organize our force as he sees fit, but before you go off to arm yourself, any questions?"
