"If redemption is what you truly seek, Sigismund the Accused, then follow me," Chaplain said as he opened the door to the cell and stepped outside. If he was to follow, the Knight would see that in fact, there were no guards present at all down here, only rows of dark and empty cells. Couple of meters in front of them, there was a wooden table where the Flesh Tearer stopped at and nodded for Knight to come closer.

"Your heart might be in the right place, but there is no excuse for treason. However, I would be a hypocrite if I executed you for your sin without giving you a chance to redeem yourself. The others, your brothers, have every right to think what they want and nothing you could say might make them reconsider. But you will not speak, you will act."

Upon the table, there were three items. Plain black robes, similar to those the Chaplain wore (of course, in size for a regular human), an iron chain with a sign of the Aquilla on it and a sword made of reddish metal. "You were once a Knight, sworn to protect the weak and battle the evil. You have lost the trust of your brothers and every man aboard this vessel for your actions were clouded. Now, everything will change because you will once again walk the pilgrims path. You will take the black and use the zeal with is in you, and turn it against His enemies for only in the heart of battle will you regain your honor. Like the Templar King of old, the one by which you were named, will you fight and through the destruction of your enemies, will you earn your salvation."

Marmaroth took hold of the sword and placed it on Sigismund's shoulder. "What say you, will you become the Redeemed or will you stay forever the Accused? Will you take the name of your Lord and with it, smite the enemies of Man or will you even deny that, and be cast aside as a traitor and a coward?"

For the moments before things turned back toward more somber matters Feron could only chuckle a bit. "Think this is enough of the genius talk or either of us holding any sort of command, starting to become flattery at the core. " Sitting back to watch the test Feron nods approvingly an easy smile coming to the fore for the duration. "Excellent, excellent work that. If I didn't know better I might say you cheated putting that together and just drew a completed one right out of the warp. " Now it was his turn to sit in utter silence, listening as the Librarian began delving into the history of his gene-seed followed by a number of harrowing experiences within the depths of the Sea of madness.

"You know if all that was shared back when I was but a novice Devastator I might have been unnerved enough to try and put a bolt through your head? For the longest time I always thought it impossible for a man to walk the warp and come out as anything other than a host for some unspeakable horror that is best left forgotten. I've seen too much these days though to deny much of anything. Let me ask you, feeling up to the task of rooting around in my own head so I might share something with you? I've wanted your thoughts on a matter dating back to the Grave World for quite a while now but things have kept us both busy as is. "

Draconion looks at Feron for several seconds before nodding slowly.

"With your permission, Uncle. I sense it is something that words alone cannot convey?"

"Things I can't properly remember that I know remain locked in my mind, that I'd rather not sully by mispronouncing the intents behind them. " A bit cryptic for the old warrior but his expression made it clear words wouldn't be the best of ideas.

    Draconion nods in understanding.

"I know how it can be, Uncle. The mind is a complex thing, and things that do not fit well in our worldview, the mind struggles to articulate."

Reaching into a belt pouch, he brings out his psy focus - a rosary made of saurian bones and teeth taken from a variety of native Nocturnean wildlife. Holding it in front of him, he says, "When you are ready, grasp the rosary and simply think of the things you wish to share. I will endeavour to shape the experience to make it as comprehensible for you as possible."

"I do Ancient one I would like to know possibly about your past with our chaplain and possibly battles you have fought with him and allies. Could you tell me about the past squad you served in with him. Team Lightbringer as it was called." Volorox asked
  9. the lord watchman lord-watchman Well-Known Member

"team lightbringer was the fith kill team i was atached to" as he spoke the dreadnaught seamed to reminisce for a moment "every team prior to this one i was a lone survivor from but that is not the question you asked, i served with the chaplin from his and my induction to the team, in the entire team id say he was the most social trying to get us all to work together as brothers, our inquisitor seamed to respect that and apointed him squad leader" as the dreadnaught spoke he did so with a slight sigh. "with every mision i gained an injury, i lost my left eye after we took out a rouge adeptus machanicus station, the rest of the info on that mision i belive was restricted after the death of our inquisitor" he then looked at the marine "we were a squad who served with honour and courage, stevanus as he was then served with honour and proved himself against many enemies, including ahirman of the thousand sons, and a greator daemon of tzeinch" if you were more specific i could tell you more what exactly do you wish to know about the team"

Draconion slowly opens his eyes, taking his time to reorient himself to the waking world after sharing Feron's memories.

"I see," he muses, nodding slowly in understanding, "You were tested sorely, Uncle. The trial of simple courage was no test at all, of course. The real trials began with loyalty weighed against justice. A hard choice at first glance for any son of Vulkan, but, really, no choice at all when you get to the heart of it. Then came a triple impasse of brotherhood versus duty versus faith. That..."

He pauses, shaking his head slowly at the harrowing memory.

"That must have been the most harrowing of all. We have always been few, and to kill a brother is always a grievous thing, no matter the cause. I see clearly how you were tested against pride in the next trial - that has ever been the sin of an Astartes, and you have always been strong against it. I see that much clearly now. And in the very next, your resolve - your faith - was tested."

Draconion falls silent again, bringing his train of thought to a conclusion before speaking up once more.

"I can see the reasoning behind the trials of St Pietros - if it was indeed him who had prepared that series of trials. He was seeking a particular kind of man to bear his legacy - one who could balance loyalty to due process with a thirst for justice, who could be a brother to his comrades without excusing their crimes, who could walk the tightrope between ambition and humility, between overreaching and apathy. I think, Uncle, that your seven hundred-odd years have been relatively quiet for one reason - they had all been leading up to this point, this choice that you face. You alone can make it, but if you were to ask me, I would say that it is time you stretched your wings and took flight."

Remembering the words of the Eldar farseer, he says, "I too was tested at more or less that exact time. My test came in the form of an Eldar farseer who tried to plant doubts about Marmaroth in me. I had to do almost the opposite of you and close my mind, narrow down my thoughts and reject him outright, choosing blind duty and obedience instead. I am thankful to the Emperor that, thus far, my choice has proven to be the right one."
