OOC I'll advance with the briefing now. Those of you who still haven't officially "arrived", feel free to make post during our war council. Others of you who still have "unfinished business" to attend, make sure you add tags in your posts (something like 'Before briefing') or continue with it via PM's, whatever you seem fit. MISSION #1: Briefing. After the ship has been resupplied and rearmed, its new crew gathered and ready, "Angelfall" slowly disembarked from the dock and made way out of the system. The transition into warpspace went without a problem, a testament to ship's crew and its Navigator. The course was set and the journey began in its earnest. Despite the information from earlier, the briefing was not held. If there was any special reason for it, team's hosts didn't explain. They only mentioned that their Commander was deep in prayer, asking for guidance. However, after three days of travel new orders were relayed - everyone was meet up on the Bridge so their assignment could be discussed. Once the newcomers reached their destination, they could finally see more of their hosts. The Bridge itself was located on one of the upper decks, the chamber was huge and easily dwarfing greeting halls of various Governor's palaces across the Segmentum. A myriad of serfs, servitors and other members of the Inquisition worked tirelessly across many different consoles and logic engines, making sure the ship operated at its peak efficiency. In the middle of it there was a throne where a rather young-looking female sat and shouted orders to her lieutenants. Despite her appearance, she radiated with self-esteem and confidence, not shying from a figure that sat behind her atop the command dais, overlooking the rest of the room. In contrary to the fist time they saw him, the Flesh Tearers Chaplain was now in his full battle plate, the artificer power armor encased his enhanced form, chains with various trophy skulls dangled from his belt while a huge cloak of wolfskin fell from his shoulders. He was bare-headed, long blond hair giving his aristocratic face a look similarly to some stone carvings of his holy Father. To some who had more experience with Adeptus Astartes and their many variations, it would seem that he didn't have the face to match his particular Chapter, which in fact was a story of its own, one he wasn't so keen to explain. He carried no weapons, but he didn't look unarmed, all the while he inspected a wide table below him that had holographic image of some unknown planet dancing on its surface. Besides the table a familiar figure of Commissar stood at attention, discussing something with this son of Sanguinius. However, once the team entered the room, Chaplain rose up and came down from the throne, an image of somewhat tribal warlord eased with warmth that could be seen behind his grey eyes. He greeted every newcomer personally by their names and ranks, as was customary by his warrior breed. Once the formalities were over, he finally spoke about their assignment and reasons why they are all here. "Brothers, the proper introduction is in order. I am Marmaroth, former Chaplain of the Flesh Tearers, now servant of Deathwatch and Him on Terra. I will not waste your time with idle chatter, therefore I'll move straight to the point. I have summoned you all here for I am in need of your aid. As you all know, our Imperium is beset from all sides by various enemies. It has been so since the dawn of its existence, however as we enter this 42nd millennium, more and more threats emerge, some of them more graven than the rest. During my service in Kill-Team Lightbringer and couple of previous years as a lone operative, I have discovered a threat most vile. A group of Arch-Traitors, Xenos and various other individuals joined in a group made to achieve one sole purpose - to destroy our Kingdom and invade the cradle of our birth. They name themselves "Unholy Alliance"." "The audacity of their plan was great to begin with, some would even deem it idiotic at best. However, they move from the shadows, corrupting and destroying a world at time, no clear patter of their attack visible to a normal eye. Having in fact the current state of our forces, them being spread on too many different fronts, it has come to us to stem the tide. Of course, I was also skeptic when I first learned of it, but after many clashes with this organization I began to take them seriously and I know you will do the same, after our next assignment." He pressed the button on the table and additional information encircled the planet on the hololit. "The world of Sombor Prime. Terran-like world, located at the edge of Segmentum Solar. Never suffered a foreign invasion, always paid their tithes on time, never had a single problem. A sleepy, dull place if you like. No special resources worth mentioning, no sights to be seen. At one point it was considered making their population serve in the Guard, however due to their lack of any real combat experience, people in charge were content with taking a low stock of men and women every ten years to be transferred in other regiments so they don't go completely to waste." "Now you can see my surprise when one of my fellow agents reported a strange activity on the planet. Unexplained disappearing, volatile propaganda, increase in unrest and so on. The situation took a more drastic turn when we received a message two days ago that the unrest became public and the world was engulfed in a civil war. The last words I got from my agent was that a cult was behind it, one all too familiar to us, connected to this "Alliance" I was talking about earlier." "We never had chance to act so quickly after the rebellion had started. Usually, we only found ruined worlds or those which have completely fallen to Chaos, every trace of our enemy's command structure long gone. I cannot express how important it is that we succeed here. Your task will be to go planetside, find my informant and see what he knows. He's been there for a while and he knows more than me about the situation at hand. Once that happens, you are to advance and capture, alive if possible, leaders of that cult and bring them here for questioning. While you are down there, I will remain on "Angelfall" and prevent any ships from leaving the system and buy you more time to accomplish your tasks." "Questions?" OOC Damn, these briefings are a pain to write Player reminder: @Grall_Stonefist @Uriel1339 @Vulpas @Draconion @Xaphen @DeranVendar @Shadhunter @torque @Skarboy @lord-watchman @Loldoom @Wincent @Mando & @PorOborosCain feel free to write posts from the briefing and onwards
"Hmmm Regulations state I am not allowed to drink." the eversor said while it seemed to be in thought about the compliment and what to make of it. Briefing-
"Im guesing some daemons are in the mix as you called me" as the grey knight spoke he smiled slightly then looked at the others "i am philitites of the 2nd brotherhood of the grey knights, if it seams i am at all disrespectfull it is not meant as such i just show no emotion and as such tend to try and hide this with bad jokes"
Dorallius removed his helmet, showing a stern and scarred face, some of the smaller scars had tattoed dates under them, while the far biggest scar that when from chin to right eyebrow went unmarked."Do we have an aproximate enermy strength? as well as their and our strongholds?" He said, his voice rasp yet strong.
Draconion listens attentively to the briefing, speaking up when Marmaroth fields questions from the team. "Father-Chaplain, what is the technology level of this world, particularly with regards to available military technology? Also, are there any sample of propaganda to view, and information on key public figures of the insurrection?"
OOC: Now lets see how many characters know the Grey Knights "Bad jokes indeed fool" the Inquisitor scolded, now just entering the bridge. He limped closer to the group so he could be In earshot of the chaplain. "Could you be specific on what kinds of heretics we will face? Well armed like a militia or like a underhive gang?"
"An alliance of xenos, heretics and other damned souls?! What foul sorcery could possibly bind them together?" From the heretics he had seen so far, even they had a deep and abiding hate for xenos. It would take a leader of exceptional charisma to connect them. Then again they are aliens, perhaps it was just supreme hatred that brought them together.
"well im not used to being away from other knights inquisitor" as he spoke he bowed his head to the inquisitor "for those of you that dont know of the grey knights it would be best not to ask"
The conversation between Philitities and the inqusitor reminded him of something, but he did not wish to meddle in affairs he didn't have right to, whatever a grey knight was had never been explained to him and it should probably stay that way for his sanity's sake judging by most inquisitorial knowledge: "Though I should probably ask this before any details about this organization are revealed: How will insertion work? Once this cult learns that several astartes and well armed humans have landed, they will either burrow to the deepest bunker or unleash their greatest weapon. Either will make our job much harder."
"The wolves are rarely silent when boasting, with they tend to do alot when we have worked with them atleast" Dorralius answered, his voice neither humorous or agressive, more passive.
