"Let us hope instead of drowning in each other's arguements, they as well found new honor to bring to our company and squad. At the very least that should get the Captain off our backs for a few days."
Macragge's Honour @DeranVendar & @matt23 | The Warmaster knew, and spoke, his name! Lifting his head Hadrian straightened. Perhaps he had failed but Lupercal was right: he'd done his part of the mission successfully and helped the team to victory. Listening to the others Hadrian spoke up. "Much honour has been gained. There is no denying that. It is just a shame that our Primarch was not here to see the victory in person."
"I think I shall speak to him as an rqual as you suggest. Your wisdom matches that of your combat prowess brother." Caphen said as he sighed looking at the primarch and shaking his head.
For a moment, Isaiah stared at the wonderful terror before them, he just stared, unable to truly fathom that he would fight a primarch, and to the death. No, the man would describe his feelings not as fear. Maybe as some mutation of awe, as some sense of duty to his legion, or as some sense of pride that he would fight Angron, the indisputable lord of the arena? Primarch of the World Eaters? Would it really be a fight to the death? Isaiah stood still, and stared. That is, until he noticed Denatus move. Denatus the Destroyer, who had acted on his own and voiced displeasure with the Sergeant that the younger Job considered a friend. Were he petty, it would have been a reason to let him go alone. But Denatus was Isaiah's brother still, and in awe about the meteor hammer bearing man's courage, he too moved, spear in hand, to flank Angron.
<Fighting pits aboard the "Conqueror"> @Grall_Stonefist @Casavay @EvicusDasan1 He smiled as they came at him. Denatus, with his clumsy weapon from the front, Sigismund, mirroring Isaiah's movement came from the left while the younger Job attacked from the right, and the Raven Guard trying to get around them and strike from behind. He almost grinned at their courage before the nails bit deep and the grin was gone. His face twitched and instead of the grin, an angry snarl could be seen on it as the Lord of the World Eaters launched himself forward. Angron went straight at Denatus first and as the meteor hammer came flying at him, he caught it with the side of the axe and quickly twisted the chain around it before pulling back. Thankfully, the Destroyer let go of the grip or else he would have probably lost an arm but despite it he was suddenly standing disarmed before his attacker. Before he could maybe try to pull out his knife, Angron smacked him with the flat side of his chain axe and sent Denatus flying across the arena, his flight ended when he hit a wall, breaking the back of his head in the process, nearly knocking him out and drawing blood. "First blood," Angron said more to himself and turned around with incredible speed for a man with such massive body. He got just in time to parry Isaiah's stab with one axe and slash at him with the second, hitting him straight on his chest. The cut opened Isaiah's chest diagonally from left shoulder to his right hip and he toppled backward, the cut wasn't too deep but he still felt blood leaving his body. "Second blood," repeating the mantra, Angron used the momentum to whirl around and catch Kaedes Nex as he attempted to strike from behind. World Eater's Primarch cut low, sailing past Raven Guard's guard and in a gruesome display of power, cutting off his right leg. The limb flew through the air and Moritat Prime fell on the ground, helpless and crippled. "Third blood," he said and found his last opponent bearing down on him. Sigismund slashed with his sword in an overhead strike but Angron caught it in mid-flight by creating a "X" block with his chain axes and locking the black sword in the grip, before headbutting the First Captain straight in his face. Sigismund staggered back, momentarily stunned and Angron threw a kick with such force that it launched Sigismund off his feet and sent him flying into the crowd above, killing couple of humans who were watching the battle with his descend. "Fourth blood," Angron concluded and looked around himself, all of his opponents beaten. The battle itself lasted only four seconds and to all except the Astartes with their gene-enhanced sight, it looked like a blur of movement, too fast for a normal eye to see. "Bloodspitter, patch them up and send them on their way," Primarch ordered and Kargos entered the arena with a couple of medical serfs, obeying in an instant, "This was a good day," Angron nodded to himself and marched out of the arena, already focused on something else while the Apothecary helped the wounded up... <Couple of hours later, aboard the "Golden Eagle"> @Grall_Stonefist @Casavay @EvicusDasan1 @matt23 @Uriel1339 @Vulpas @Avenging-Angel @DeranVendar Eventually, everyone had returned to the ship carrying their 19th Company and once again the 6th squad was gathered in one of the barracks, free to speak to each other and maybe tell what everyone achieved. Word spread out of their exploits both in the arena and on "Macragge's Honor", making many of the battle-brothers from the other squads in the company saluting and congratulating them for the honor earned. Hadrian, Arnock and Davian received a small honor badge to be put on their armor (OOC description I leave to you if you wish) in memory of their win against the Ultramarines. Denatus and Isaiah, besides new scars and the makeshift patching Kargos did, received two boxes with the compliments from the World Eaters containing a meteor hammer the Destroyer used in arena and a pair of Falax blades, addressed to "The Flawless". Elijah and Theo both got their books to read and finally, Caphen received an advice on how to approach the problem in his squad and put an end to it once and for all. OOC okay we finally got here You can all talk to each other, examine your gifts if you wish and @EvicusDasan1 can try to talk it out with his men and reach a common ground. Once that is over, I'll introduce a new player to the RP and we can start the 3rd mission
"If I may have a word brothers..." Caphen spoke. "We should be proud as a squad this day, exploits in the arena followed by showing the Ultramarines the perfection of the 3rd, and by gaining more knowledge and wisdom in company of other legions." The sergeant said gesturing to each of them as he spoke of their events. "It is why I wish to lead this squad. We may have petty differences between some of us, but I truly think we can work past these and continue our glorious pursuit of perfection in our father's name. I understand your dislike of me, in fact I would feel the same. But I ask you to be the better man than I would be and follow me one more time." "I made mistakes, and regret them for they are a mar on our image of perfection and honor. If I fail you once more then I shall with a heavy heart step down from my position...what say you brothers?" Caphen asked hoping one of his supporters would speak up first as to reinforce his claim.
~~ Small-Talk before Caphen's speech ~~ @Casavay "I see you have been quite successful by proving yourself in combat. Our father would be proud of you, Isaiah the Flawless." He smiled brightly with his acid-burned, hairless face and placed a hand on his brother's pauldron. "I fear I have gained not much as we did split up, only a book on the mysteries of the warp, apparently a very highly regarded work amongst the Thousand Sons, the author being Magnus himself. I have started reading it, but it's concepts are all strange to me, but I can see why they are fascinated with it. But let me not bore you, I know you never liked books. Instead tell me of your fights!" Elijah smiled genuinely. Yes he might be far less capable in combat and Isaiah started to easily get even past his older brother, but the potential in the young and eager one was always twofold of his one, sometimes the older even doubted himself, was he only holding his brother back? Such thoughts were purged quickly, because their family name would live on one way or another. ~~ Caphen's Speech ~~ @Everyone "AYE!" Elijah roared and raised his left fist into the air. "We shall stand as brothers. With strength of Denatus, Isaiah and our Sergeant. With the tactical prowess of Davian, Hadrian and Arnock. And with the knowledge of Theo and I. Together we shall learn from one another and each of us may become perfection incarnate, as Fulgrim leads by example we shall walk into his footsteps." His right hand being in the shape of a fist resting over his chest where his twin hearts would beat beneath. After the meeting with the Blood Angels and Thousand Sons he learned he had a talent with words, and he attempted to hone them and make good use of them to assist his squad leader in cohesion.
Golden Eagle @EvicusDasan1 | With a small scroll bearing the signature of Lord Guilliman and a piece of wax emblazoned with the Ultramarines' inverted omega in his possession, firmly affixed to his left pauldron, Hadrian had returned to the Golden Eagle, reuniting with his squad. Caphen's call for unity, and accepting him as leader, was irritating. He'd had his chance after the death of their proper sergeant and blown it by kowtowing to aliens. Buckling down on his opinions, not ready to fully speak out yet, Hadrian glanced at the other Astartes. "You have only one more chance Caphen."
"That is all I ask brother." Caphen said to Hadrian staying cordial, knowing full well he was one of those who despised him as sergeant.
Having been pleasantly surprised to have received a gift from the world eaters, with he found was only proper since they had been beaten up by Angron himself, the back of his head still aching from the brutal yet effective patchwork, Denatus was even happier when he saw what was within, the meteor hammer, now ready for war, he immediately took it up and double belted the ademantine chain, so that the head itself was close to his side, the only problem now being that his load out would be quiet heavy, though he had an idea to deal with that problem, he had pulled out a combat knife, he wanted the little tradition from his rad missile launcher to continue he had after all defeated a pyreguard and a captain of the nightlords with in single combat, so their markings should cut carefully into the hammers head, a start for many more to hopefully come, though rather from xenos. While he was still etching in the mark of the pyreguard, Caphen had started speaking, ofcause he still wanted to be the sergeant, and so far it didn't seem like any other would stand up to it, Denatus himself cared not yet for command, he had weapons to master and kills to claim. he looked up from his work, "As long as there is no more going against the very idea of the great crusade, or surrendering of arms out of simple hunches, i guess you can have another go at it, but to quote Hadrian, its the last one, and thats many more chances than most of our brothers and cousins get" Denatus answered, he knew that there was a certain spite towards him, from the ones who felt closer to caphen, as if to say he was unfit they would fear hurting his feelings
