Isaiah went into an all-out offense, knowing that he could trust Hadrian to keep the little pests off him, allowing the hubristic swordsman to focus on the larger lizards. Using his armoured swiftness to approach, his whirring blade's hungry teeth soon found purchase in the flesh of a specimen that had dared to attack him. With trained precision, he disembowelled the creature and moved forward, joining his brother in his advance - though unlike, him, he did not shoot the flying skirmishers but rather could not help but stare at the Carnosaur - a beast that would surely make a magnificient steed, if given enough time to break.
This was an affront like any other. A physical and quite visible wound to his pride in shattered Aquila that had -not- been broken down into sharp shards of ornamented ceramite currently piercing his flesh. "You ignorant...disgusting...SAVAGES!" Legs straining with strength fueled by both rage and adrenaline Davian forced himself upright even with his grip dedicated solely upon holding his weapon in place to get it firing as swiftly as possible. Mental impulse brought Kraken rounds to the fore again and soon red hot bolts rocketed through the gap between both Carnosaur and Devastator. Marching closer Emperor's Child ignored the generous tinges of pain wracking his form, that ugly wheezing with every breath and almost deafening sound of his own primary heart thumping in each ear. If he gets his way Davian won't stop his march until he is punching rounds into the monstrous creature's throat from but a few feet away.
Though to his great dismay, his throw went wide, he was still reinforced in his will to be a destroyer, seing, that even when the phosphex missed, it still destroyed half of the cold ones, a good number, and even if they where all to die for some reason, the swamp would forever be poisened, these creatures where doomed. After his succesfull sidestep of the charge of the Carnosaur, and the sad death of yet another battle brother, he loaded in a krak missile, aiming to ruin the natural armour of the creature and blow out a chunk of it, he aimed for one of the hind leg thighs, if they could cripple it more, then it would be much easier to kill.
Caphen grunted in pain from his wounds. He cursed the dishonorable art of ranged combat and holstered his pistol. Taking his sword in both hands. Just in time too as he noticed the four saurus who still lived. With a wry smile he moved towards them to make quick work of them with his blade.
Theo cursed at the Terradon riders as hey swooped in biting and managed to pick up and drop him back down his own weight and equipment causing more damage to him as he fell from a great height, Two more life ruins were starting to glow amber, He needed to get to them Arnock and Davian. Deciding quickly who to go to first he decided Arnock for readings on his own Vitals were lower. Get up he shook of the damaged and ignored the pain he was in and began moving to get at the back to begin work on his brothers damaged body quickly injecting him first with a regenerative serum and a boost to ones Biotic. "Hold Together brothers, Davian I am on my way for you next!" He yelled to the other marine to get him ready for quick field patching up.
<Swamp Fever> @DeranVendar @Uriel1339 @Avenging-Angel @Vulpas @Grall_Stonefist @EvicusDasan1 @Casavay @matt23 Isaiah almost died as he stood there, staring at the Carnosaur as the beast turned around and charged him. At the last possible moment he sidestepped it, just in time to see Rylanor striking at the monster, a beautiful slash that cut the muscles behind one of the Carnosaur's legs. Monster roared in pain and stumbled, just in time for Denatus's krak missile to fly and strike straight at its stomach, the explosion blasting the natural armor of the beast and opening its insides for the world to see. Carnosaur was in its death throes and the final nail to the coffin was Davian's salvo of kraken bolts, that blasted both the monster and its rider apart. Around fifty bolts later the monster's corpse lied in the middle of a small island, its carcass fresh for the pickings. On the other side, while Theo worked on Arnock's wounds, Hadrian and Elijah dealt with the remaining Terradon Riders, making sure not a single one of them survived while Caphen busied himself with dispatching any wounded lizardmen or any that tried to sneak up on them. In any case, there was not much to be done and after Theo collected the Legion's due, they continued onward. OOC Ok, if you wish you can get yourself some trophies and whatnot. @Vulpas you can collect geneseed of 8 out of 11 marines, dead Sergeant's geneseed is sadly destroyed. <Jungle - small relief camp> @DeranVendar @Uriel1339 @Avenging-Angel @Vulpas @Grall_Stonefist @EvicusDasan1 @Casavay @matt23 Getting clear of the swamp, the Emperor's Children marched on and they soon passed the entrance into the gorge, the mysterious ruins in the center of it now visible to the eye in the distance. However, before they continued towards the place of their objective and the origin of the strange signal, Rylanor ordered them to stop and rest for a moment. They chose a small clearing in the middle of the Jungle with couple of thick tall trees around it to make as a natural barrier. It gave Theo some time to work on the wounded and clear the most obvious ones of any possible residual infection (OOC updated HPs are up) while the rest had their chance to clean their gear. "Alright, we'll continue with the mission in 10 minutes," Rylanor said and cursed, "Any attempts so far to contact Iron Father Korda and the rest of the Iron Hands had been unsuccessful. It must be something from the ruins blocking our communication but whatever the case, we'll just proceed to the objective and hope Iron Father and his men have had more luck on their path and that they will find us there." "Now, the other important matter," he said and took out a power sword from his hip, placing it forward. "This is the weapon of your fallen Sergeant Callus," a long and thin dark silver blade with an elongated grip and guard made in shape of eagle's wings, with a word Absolution written in golden runes across the length of the blade, "It is one of the few better weapons the 19th Company possesses and more importantly, it is the symbol of the Sergeants of the 6th and other squads. This weapon had always been carried by a leader of the squad and since Callus died and I already having a squad to lead, in such circumstances a new Sergeant must be chosen, at least temporarily before we head back to the fleet." "Who among you will take upon this burden of command?" he asked and brought the sword up, pointing the tip towards the members of the 6th. OOC: Okay, this had to happen sooner or later One of you will be a Sergeant of the squad for the moment and if you like his performance, maybe even longer. It's a necessary title we need before we push forward and eventually reach that first squad in the company and one of you getting the Captaincy (doesn't have to be the same dude) or whatever else. I will still help with the leading ofc but this might help us in some situations where a quick decision is needed. However if you don't like this idea, feel free to speak up and we'll think of something else Friendly forces: Champion Rylanor 17 HP with the banner up, 2 Emperor's Children marines. As long as the banner is standing, each of you who are in the range of it have +1 on all your actions. HP: Elijah: 10 Isaiah: 14 Davian: 10 Hadrian: 13 Denatus: 15 Theo: 13 Caphen: 13 Arnock: 10
~~ Swamp Fever - Earlier ~~ Elijah walked up to one of the downed flying beasts and ripped a pair of wings off with his bare hands and attached them to his back, he would make proper trophies later out of them. Then once the danger indeed had subsided, he walked up to Isaiah (@Casavay ) "You fight well, you easily exceed me with the talent of a blade, and it makes me proud. You can even keep up with Lord Rylanor! Your future is very bright, but do not lose yourself to cockiness." Elijah said with a bright smile under his helmet, giving him a strong clasp on his shoulder pauldron. ~~ Small Relief Camp - Now ~~ "I nominate Caphen (@EvicusDasan1 ) for leadership. He is a good warrior and appears to be agile. Also, he appears to lead by example, like a Sergeant should." Elijah simply noted. While he would by all means wish to lead himself or even his younger brother, the truth was that he didn't feel either was fit. They worked well together, even with their brothers they could annihilate their targets. But leading, and the burden of the politics? That was something he would not get either of them involved in. The Job's would become legends as fearless, talented and warriors who pursue perfection, being leaders or not. OOC: Current Ammo & Stuff: - Melta Bomb - 2 Krak Grenades - 1 Stun Grenade - 1 Incendiary Grenade - 1 Frag Grenade - 1 Kraken Clip - 1 Dragonfire Clip - Unlimited Frag Missiles - Unlimited Krak Missiles - 1 Concussion Missiles (Anti-Building!) - 1 Stasis Missiles (Time-Trap!) - 1 Flakk Missiles (Anti-Air!)
Davian had half way dropped his heavy bolter upon helping down the Carnosaur. Combat knife came free while knee helped brace his weapon and keep it up out of mucky waters. Flaying away two patches of scales and claiming a pair of fangs to help pin them in place the Emperor's Child would march on with the others having used newest trophy mantles to cover his damaged shoulder guards making practical use of the ornamentation. As much as he might deeply desire to sit and repair broken Aquila there is little time for it and Devastator has already set mind to leaving it as such until mission is completed properly, he must wear this shame lest it go forgotten too quickly. Face grim and movements alert when they at last come to rest he eyes their late Sergeant's power sword with a glint of... something. Whatever lurked within his eye certainly wasn't admiration. As Rylanor spoke Davian found he had only silence to offer, mind locked away on demanding greater of himself and furthering his performance this mission.
Caphen had a face of anger under his helmet hearing Isaiah be complimented for swordcraft and himself being over looked. His anger quickly turned to shock when the very same marine nominated him as sergeant. Caphen managed to hide his body language from the others before speaking. "I thank you brother. I would be honored to have such a position. What say the others?" The Chemosian asked realizing he quite liked the prospect of being a leader on the field of battle. Perhaps he did not have to become one of the Palatine Blades, perhaps he could rise through the ranks and still perfect his art of swordplay. As he waited for an answer the legionnaire decided to pass on any trophies to be claimed. Why mar perfection incarnate with the skin and items of savages?
X-077 When the two squads reached the clearing, quickly establishing a temporary camp, Hadrian took the time to clean his weaponry, picking chunks of meat from between the teeth of his chainsword. He also used the time to look over the dagger that had wounded him, having retrieved the weapon after the skirmish had concluded. Focussing on Rylanor when the champion spoke about leadership Hadrian glanced at the others although he kept his silence for the moment, seeing who else would be put forward for the role of sergeant.
