So has anybody tried loading their trukk with a shit ton of sticky stikk bombz and ramming that sucka into a hoard of gitz yet? Does kamikaze jeep tactics work? Because I'll be real sad if that ain't a thing
It does not work. I have tried this. It does however work when you stick it to your boyz or enemy gitz.
All Melta Bombs have troubles staying in place when you but it down, but the SSS (Super Sticky Stikkbomb) does seem to have more problems than the Imperial Melta Bomb. There are nothing more annoying that to finally manage to actually stick the bloody Melta Bomb onto something, just to see it "fall off" when that vehicle starts driving again Also, none of the Melta Bombs have any AoE to speak of, even though it looks like they might have that, which imo is a bit silly. Regarding the Ork Grenades not having enough of a boom, then I think it would be nice if the Ork Grenades were less efficient than the Imperial Grenades, but the Orkz would carry twice as many of them to compensate. Because more dakka is always better.
Same issue. When it does stick and explode properly it does a ton of damage, half a rhino if from the back if I remember right. But it rarely sticks and even more rarely deals damage.
Must admit the stikk bombs seem abit meh overall, people just seem to shrug them off or they get jammed and don't throw (a lag/server issue?) so only thrown weapon I think is awesome is the Doc bomb..
lag/server isn't the problem due to all other races having perfectly fluid metla bomb use. Aswell as their melta bombs having the effective AoE and Dmg
I have figured this out, but it sucks and if the vehicle moves whatsoever, your bomb will not hit. Consider this a public service announcement to my Orky friends. See steps #1-3 below for the important bits. I have tested extensively with marine melta bombs and they do not have this problem (their bomb indicators actually attach where they show). One thing they need to change: [bE], Please add a 1 to 2 meter toss to the bombs! We should be able to attach these things to vehicles that are moving 10mph while we're running next to them. As it is now, you have to wait for the 'attach' icon to show properly, then release, and in the time that this happens the bomb typically goes wasted and falls to the ground all crappy-like, doing nothing while the vehicle slowly plods along (this happens often even if the 'attach' icon was present when you let go), even with marine Melta Bombs which can actually attach to vehicles right now. It's also the only reasonable means that you might one day attach a melta to an Eldar vehicle that's barreling down on you. As it is now, there will never be enough time to attach the bomb before you're run down, and even if you throw it beforehand, there's no 'throw' so the bomb doesn't actually go anywhere...so even if your timing was perfect, there would be no way to attach it to something like a Wave Serpent, even if it was coming at you stupid-SLOW (under 15mph). 1) Go to the back of the offending vehicle where the resupply area is (Wave Serpent, Rhino, etc.). The sides sometimes work (or the tip of the treads on Rhinos), but it's very inconsistent...avoid them, go for the back of the vehicle whenever possible. 2). Get as close to the back of the vehicle as possible. Some feel it's best to stand a couple of few feet away, but that's going to yield to very inconsistent results as well (it will often go off but just a hair too far away or even if it's close enough, the aoe damage doesn't seem to register). 3) Now that you're humping the back of the vehicle, look up (looking almost directly up seems to be the most consistent for me, on an Eldar Wave Serpent it will end up 'attached' to the back of the vehicle). I don't even bother looking to see where the 'bomb-placement' icon is anymore on the vehicle because it's bullshit and it lies (it hangs upright, doesn't show if it's actually going to attach, looks like it should be close enough to attach, but the icon is still upright instead of sideways as though it'll stick and then flaccidly falls to the ground doing nothing). 4) Release your bomb. If you did it right, it'll look really fucked up...your bomb will be floating mid-air about 2-4 feet behind the vehicle; however, it is counted as 'attached' (not really; I'll explain in a bit, but the explosion will work so long as that vehicle doesn't move). When I say it doesn't really attach, it's like the bomb's hit-box is not in-sync with the vehicle. In patch 23, you could get away with this and the bomb would actually stay floating 2-4 feet behind the vehicle and would follow it as it moved...it does not seem to do this now. If you've 'attached' the bomb correctly, it'll be floating in mid-air but the moment that vehicle starts to move away, the bomb doesn't go anywhere. This is our current plight and is my biggest gripe about things (aside from the Klaw fast-attack, which has been fixed!). This will get fixed eventually as well, I'm just hoping for sooner than later. Source: I have thrown hundreds of Super Stikky Bombs and hundreds of Melta Bombs on tanks since launch, and *many* many more prior.
