Yea you are totally right, lets ne... but what about the stalker? Mobile weapon, fast aim, efficient on close range, near to no dmg fallout, OHK in the head even at very long range (else it's 2 or 3 shot on squishy target, and one more hit on the rest), very good RoF, Pin point accuracy, manageable recoil.

Kannon users are the usual target for heavy hunter (grosso modo, every flying unit); but we can't really go on the hunt for stalker as now they can defend themselves in low range fights.

I don't mind being OHK by them since I can easily give the favor back. Moreover if I get kill by them, well it's deserved, I was probably in plain sight and didn't ask for a suppressing fire to cover me.

Why all this comparison of a lascannon to a Kannon? They aren't even in the same ballpark for purpose/functionality.

Orks have a direct equivalent of a lascannon and it behaves almost identical with the blue laser instead of red.

The kannon should be compared to these three weapons combined plasma, melta, and grav.

Plasma is a AOE 1 hit down, slow projectile, very quick charge, no reload, avoidable cooldown, 2ndary plasma version of autocannon mode. Does little damage to vehicles though.

Melta is a short ranged, beam type, fast DOT, no reload, unavoidable cooldown, lots of damage to vehicles and infantry.

Grav is long ranged, beam type, instant damage, snare effect, no reload, unavoidable cooldown, damaged vehicles and infantry about the same.

Kannon is AOE 1 hit kill, quick projectile, long reload, long charge up, 2ndary lobs a warned visible grenade, damages vehicles and kills infantry.

So, if we wanted to remove asymmetrical balance then the Kannon really should be....

Kannon is AOE 1 hit down, quick beamlike shots with no dropoff, DOT or snare, no reload, unavoidable cooldown, 2ndary autocannon mode, solid damage to vehicles.

Take your pick space marines and choose wisely.

  3. From what I've seen the Kannon is basically what the old Plasma Cannon was before it's rework and managed to avoid the nerf. If the OP is Eldar like he claims then yes, the Reaper Launcher does not compare to it. I'm a heavy main and the launcher is just about effective on vehicles because of their size, the splash is pathetic and Starswarm is pretty much a punchline.

Grain of salt of course, maybe I'm just shit, but I very rarely managed to hit anyone with the Starshot mode on Reaper Launcher. It needs to be pretty dead on because of the excuse for splash it has and the wire guided nature of the projectile can make it a bit harder to judge.

You have never seen the old Plasmacannon then. Back when the rokkit was overperforming along with the Plasmacannon, people often compared the two. Whenever someone tried to bring the Kannon into the comparison, stating it was closer to the Plasmacannon than the rokkit, he was laughed out of the thread because it was widely agreed that the PC was superior to the Kannon in every way.

The Plasmacannon was able to oneshot infantry at any range and destroy vehicles quickly if hitting the back with charged shots, which it could spit out rather rapidly. It could overcharge for many seconds, slowly building up a one-shotting AoE so massive it could cover entire rooms. The user could fire this overcharge at his own feet while simultaneousely jumping backwards, abusing the i-frames to get off completely scot-free while obliterating whatever poor fool thought he could engage the Plasmacannon without a jumppack.

And even if they managed to engage the PC in melee, a d-bash + snapshots to the head would still deal massive damage and all but guarantee the PC's victory if the attacker was injured in any way.

The PC of old was able to kill anything at any range without any deficit in defense beyond the movement-speed penalty of the devastators. It was basically godmode thrust into a slightly immobile class.

In comparison to that, all the Kannon can do is serve as a long range artillery platform while being freefood for any jump- or shield-class (Yes, shields can block the kannon). Plasmacannon these days can do the same, though it trades raw killing power for the ability of consistent close-range defense and ability to actually help out in house-fights without threatening allies.

Stalker is not a OHK weapon. After the first hit the player has a chance to roll away. Happens all the time even vs eldar in many matches. Only those who have no situational awareness and are braced on a wall eat the second round.
Kannon doesn't afford such a luxury.

Check your stats before being snarky. :)

You can see a PC shot coming from a mile away. It's a big blue ball and it travels slow. No comparison to the kannon.

I did read what you wrote. Stalker is not a OHK even in the head even on Eldar. You're just flat out wrong. Learn to post with more respect maybe?

The day you'll check your stats... Stalker OHK in the head on eldar (not on full armor reaper, eh the most tanky eldar's class), the hitbox is tiny, but you'll see with a bit of training, you'll be able to hit it.

I'm getting tired of LSM crying about other race toys and crying even more when we talk about their.

Edit: yea I'm bad mouth, you don't OHK headshot if we are buffed, meaning near 100% of our time since we play in organized team most of the time.
To not get OHK, Eldar to use shit tons of LP to increase the few armor they have.
