My responses to your 2 cents.

    1. I think the splash is a bit too big.
It is the same as the plasma cannon.
    2. I think if the splash is going to remain the way it is there should be some sort of warning sign that holy fuck you're about to get blasted by a massive fuckoff frag cannon.
The plasma cannon does not have this feature either.
    3. The regular firing mode should be anti-infantry, whereas the mortar mode should be anti-vehicle/fortification to make it more flexible.
It already is flexible and does OK damage to vehicles and 1 hit kills infantry.

Point one and two could also be solved by giving it more severe splash falloff since it doesn't seem to suffer from the plasma cannon's high damage falloff in terms of distance from point of impact. It seems pretty hit or no hit.
The plasma cannon charged shot has the same result no matter the distance. You are referring to the non charged shot with regards to damage falloff.

Point three could also be the other way around, but despite it's fearsome appearance the Kannon really is an anti-infatry weapon and I doubt most would like having mortar mode be the anti-infantry mode even if it is more of a "throw-grenades-at-enemies-behind-cover" sort of mentality to it that way.
The direct and indirect fire modes are equally important to functionality of the Kannon. Removing one will reduce kannons firing lane options by 50%.

Again, I started using it yesterday and perhaps it may just be my impression but it definitely feels like the Kannon has a bigger splash than the Plasma Cannon. I can't readily prove that however, so that point is based entirely on my opinion. Point conceded.

The plasma cannon does have a warning actually. A great big ball of flying plasma that is actually slower moving the closer you are to where you're shooting at. It also downs in one charged with a direct hit from my long experience using it, not kills in one hit. The Kannon...not so much.

The damage I did to vehicles seemed near negligible. Again, I might not have used it enough to say exactly but it seemed like I would need at least 10 or so shots to get a rhino down to low health. But alas, point conceded.

And I am quite certain of what I'm referring to when I say Plasma Cannon SPLASH damage. Here are some things from a rather old Plasma Cannon rebalance but that I have yet to see mentioned as being changed:

Small blast min damage reduced from 280 to 150
blast falloffs start at 1m and end at 2m

There was a small change that increased the total radius of the blast a bit, but unless they ninja'd some shit past me I have yet to see those two things change.

By what I've been told there are four ways to damage a gate in EC as an Ork. One is the artillery wagon, two is the power klaw, three is supa stikkbombs, and four is the Kannon deffgun. If the kannon cannot actively destroy a rhino in a few rounds how will it destroy a gate? The multimelta does those two jobs well, and it is most decidedly an anti-vehicle weapon. Since the Ork kannon is anti-infantry, why can it even damage fortifications? I genuinely believe that the kannon should have different fire modes that focus different kinds of damage, but I can also see your point. That is also why I suggested ammo mods as an alternative. Give me rounds that damage fortifications or ones that damage vehicles. Give me rounds that do both at the same time but limit its splash to one meter. These are things I can accept readily in place of different fire modes having different stats. Point semi-conceded.

The Lascannon get kills from graphical glitches usually I feel. Like, if you zoom in and zoom out a few times, the red laser won't be noticable to you as it targets you. That gets a lot of people on fortress maps. Also, sometimes there just is no visible laser for the target. I've seen this many times myself, you see the obvious lascannon guy way over in the distance, and you might spot a tiny red dot from his weapon as he's aiming at you, but you don't see the laser. It's lost. And so, people die to it.

A plasma cannon wielder can fire off 2 shots and cool off long before a kannon wielder can get off one. The result is the exact same, a kill. Plasma cannon projectile is slower, this is what we call balance.

The AV damage of the kannon is fairly similar to the AV damage of a lascannon/zapgun. You just need to prioritize shots to the weakest armor locations.

Any weapon that does AV damage can destroy a gate. Some are better at it than others, but that is the basic truth of it. Not sure if lascannon/zapguns can target the gate, but if they could they'd damage it as well.

Well just used it. Effortless 19:0 kd on Zedek, could be much more but 10 orcs on A objective couldnt figure out how to start capping so match ended premature...

I've seen auto-cannons preform better.....but who am I to judge.

50 Kills with Heavy bolter attacking Zedek = Kannon OP
40 Kills attacking zedek stalker boltor = Kannon OP
regular 35+ kills attacking zedek with bolter = kannon OP

The time i used Regular Kannon, i've seen people in the blast radius not getting OHK. So the deadly area is not as big as you imagine.
If you say that because a plasma has a huge fucking ball, therefore it has a warning...well, a "flaming" gun, from a relatively larger weapon, is as well a valid warning, that you'll be shot by a kannon.

And again, this is not on every kind of map.
If it's a fortress, know that there will be kannons
If it's a ticket map...There will be kannons

On the other maps....probably no kannons.

On the side note, Kannons are not AV, therefore they don't need any better dmg against vehicles.
They are as AV, as an autocannon/ quadgun

They could last I checked but couldn't damage it.

If you don't get the giant bolt red X when you hit it. Then you are doing damage, its jsut gate have tons of health you won't notice 1 person firing.
  10. Anvil The-Forge-Dragon Arkhona Vanguard

Well I'd need to get into a fortress map to confirm it. last time I tried, mind you this was a long time ago, they could lock on and shoot but all you got was a shield with a red X. You'd have to find someone with the time and willingness to go test that tonight to be certain though.
