@Halcyon Well, let's see if you're going to be like that other guy. Do you have any constructive ideas to improve the Kannon, or are you also in the camp of, "Fuck the Kannon" and don't care about anything other than your own enjoyment of the game?
No I'm not in that camp. I think everything should be fun, competitive, and enjoyable to use not only for the faction using it but for the opposing faction. As for the kannon, it needs either a visible paint on the target so the target can get away from it, like the lascannon, or it shouldn't OHK, which I'm not a fan of. I think it should retain a OHK ability due to it's setup and charge time, but the other guy needs to be given a chance to avoid it, either through an audible tone or a laser painter or some type of UI indication that you're getting lit up. I don't think making the projectile huge and slow like the PC fits a weapon like the kannon.
Maybe make it noisy as fuck like your typical bomber sound? I dont know the projectile speed of it tho, but if its too big, maybe lower it a bit so you have time to react, dont know
Well, that's good. I just wanted to make sure. Personally, I'm not a fan of a laser pointer. I never get killed by the lascannon (Or gets kills with it) unless there's so much going on that the laser gets lost in the graphical chaos. It's just too damn obvious. No one with even half of a functional brain will stick around if they catch sight of that laser.
Lascannon is only good to kill enemy vehicles, if the enemy is a no brainer that cant see a laser. The laser should only be visible if near it maybe. We need some sort of adjustment on the lascannon, I could say EDIT: It could work like the tactical plasma gun, charge for max damage, no charge for a shitter shot?
I'm all for makin' da kannon as loud as da vindicator kannon, but zog it on da projectile speed. Da sound should indicate to everyone that there is a kannon, therefore would make da kannon boy a huge priority for the enemy
Just played Zedek vs orcs, 10 kannons spam, match end withing 10 mins tops. Dissapointing how devs let slip stuff like that into game and leave it without balancing when its obviously broken. With absolutelly no risk comes such easy mode kill farm.
If you get repeatedly killed by Kannon, you sir are failing along with your team. Most ppl mentality: "i got killededededed by a kannon. Am i going to be on the lookout for them? NAH....ima just respawn and do the same shit, and go to the same position to die again." Kannon bait alert. Again let's for a second analyze and see if LSM has any weapon that OHK at ranged, with AOE. OH WAIT THEY DO.... It's a plasma cannon. Which can also be used with alternate firing mode, not rendering you useless at close range. Plasma cannon got nerfed before, because of the ridiculously fast charge up, which is still there to a point, and the speed at which you could deliver said charged shots without overheating. Kannon players, in order to kill you are: - On higher ground than you, due to projectile fall off - Behind your lines, so you don't see them If you catch a kannon outside those positions, they aren't even a relevant threat... So there, now you know where fungal kannons grow. "uh but the kannon is OP" Well the plasma can fire 2 charged shots in the same time as a kannon can fire 1 shell! "uh but the kannon is OP" Well you can defend yourself vs the JPA that is coming to kill you "uh but the kannon is OP" Well but you can also position yourself better so that your targets don't see where you are shooting from, just like most kannons do shall i go on?
You're kannon bait no matter where you stand, thanks to a lack of any mechanic that notifies you you're being targeted by one. Plasma cannon - giant blue ball slowly coming towards you. Dodge. Lascannon - red laser beam pointing at you from the lascannon. Dodge. Stalker bolter - take a hit. Realize you are getting hit. Dodge. Kannon - die.
