Whoah there pardner, gonna have to stop you right there.
The Plasma Cannon is an Anti-Infantry weapon dedicated to killing blobs of enemy footsoldiers, so it's a zerg killer.
It's niche is Anti Infantry with a little bit of anti-vehicle utility.

The Kannon Deffgun however is the inverse to this, a strong anti-vehicle ranged weapon that can be used against infantry but to less effect.
It performs in this role well and is the premier choice for ranged burst damage against vehicles, vastly outperforming the Plasma Cannon and even the lascannon or Zapgun in this Anti-armour role.

To compare the two directly is frankly being either deliberately misleading or, what I am more inclined to believe, simply another case of a git wanting the Kannon to be like the Plasma Cannon, which is it not and should never be. It should always be less effective against infantry than a plasma cannon and the reload speed and goofy grenade uncharged fire mode balance this well.

I do however agree that the Plasma Deffgun is lacklustre and could use a secondary fire mode of some kind to make it actually interesting and actually different from the regular deffgun.
AddyRedrum, Wiawyr and Celestia like this.

That's the thing. PC should never had rapid fire mode. I hate being blown up by plasma deathball but if that was only mode it had it would by closer to kannon. BTW comparing it to kannon is where it should be. it has more functionality with overcharge and fast release options. also kannon isn't that good against vehicles anymore since few patches ago. if you remove rapid fire then you could start to argue that PC is somehow balanced (people will still hate you tho xP).

Using your example, your choppa gets a passive +1 clang from the Ork racial bonus, putting it a tier above where it is for the same cost. How does that not break your 100 mineral example, of getting something better than the other guy is paying for? Like I said, asymmetrical balance.
  5. Gorkdork Gorkdork Arkhona Vanguard

We don't get any bonus like that. We supposed to. But that bonus is same as eldar faster movement speed.
also in that case we are zerg. for 100 minerals, in the basic 4 zergling vs 2 marine scenario zerglings win. It changes when you deploy 20 marines against 40 zerglings as you can attack from ranks.

Also we don't get power sword and our power weapons are slow.

Get it to your head. PC wasn't balanced and still isn't. Stop being delusional. It's just you and one other guy arguing in every thread that PC was fine. But you ignore that EVERYONE ELSE is telling you otherwise. Even devs confirmed that PC is overperforming. You and the other guy are only ones stuck in your little world where PC is just "fine".
  6. Celestia Celestia Prefectus

Yeah orkz have no 140 pen weapons at all, none. Not a single one. Definitely don't.
  7. Gorkdork Gorkdork Arkhona Vanguard

Read again. No power SWORD. and 3 power weapon we have are slow and don't match Power swords.
3 ork power weapons (140 pen) are:
    axe choppa (slow weapon)
Claw (which is really bad atm)
Electro clubba which is special version of regular clubba and can't be moded.

"fixed a bug causing the game to randomly freeze for up to 10 seconds at a time"
I'm not going to comment on balance till I see this one. :p
  9. Celestia Celestia Prefectus

And our axes are slow as well, what's your point? Are you already forgetting when orkz had an unstoppable melee charge speed? There's a reason high strength weapons have a slow charge. Also klaw is nowhere near bad, you need to learn how to use a slower weapon.
  10. Valnak Valnak Nickname Change

So use burny choppa. It's better anyway. It out clangs powerswords while also providing an additional fire dot.
