Waiting for the rest of the group to prepare for the run, Buzzsaw sat in a corner running a whetstone over the edge of his blade. He could tell the others were nervous, most of them were civilians unused to the kind of horror that lay outside the bunker. Even the Guardsmen, trained to fight the horrors of the warp were used to having extensive support when fighting. Not Buzzsaw, a life in the pits had inured him to the terrors of death. He doubted anything that they would see outside would be worse that seeing your friends ripped apart by horrible alien creatures, especially when you were next. He knew that what ever lay outside, as long as he kept his guard up and put his faith in the Emperor he would make it through.

Rex inhaled deeply at being addressed, turning and regarding the woman before him, "Nurse Davenport, a pleasure to speak to you without a sick or injured patient involved. I appreciate and respect your enthusiasm ma'am, but if the Sarge does agree to the idea of deploying in fire teams, it would be best to spread out our medical expertise instead of concentrate it." He took a cursory glance of the woman's equipment, "With all due respect ma'am, this won't do. Here, take my spare medikit in case something unsavory should happen to me." He handed her the container before pulling and checking his stub pistol again, remembering halfway through his examination that he had just done this a moment ago.

OoC: Handing her the Medikit, keeping the Field Surgery Kit.

"Thank you rex. I hadn't thought of that" Jackie said. Grimacing at the thought of Rex falling. He was the one with the most expeircnce and handling things better
  4. -standing quietly in the background as the others continuing to bicker about the situation, Jonah checks his auto-pistol to ensure it's loaded and ready to go before heading to the door. Stopping for only a few moments before exiting the bunker-

Andreas was right about one thing...we have no idea what is out there. I'm one of the fastest here and the most experienced from what I have seen. Wait at least two hours for my return before going out there so you are at least prepared...it would be a shame if I had to bury you too.... -gestures to the still bloody shovel at his waist marked with the crimson stain of an undead PDF soldier that had managed to get into the bunker the day before-

-leaving the survivors to continue their debate, Jonah opens the main blast door and walks out into the windy cityscape. Clutching a small cloth to his face to block out most of the rancid smell emanating from the nearby streets and piles of burned corpses, Jonah takes out his well maintained auto-pistol and stalks outwards towards the last known report of supplies. Hugging the shadows and being careful to avoid the large smears of shattered glass and the bloated, diseased corpses littering the streets. Seeing small groups of undead, most of them large groups of unlucky civilians but spotting a few shapes of PDF and Guardsmen in the thronging masses, Jonah reaches the second block outside of the perimeter (Row G, Columns 1-4) and sees a promising first start, an abandoned merchant store, the front window remarkably still intact. Seeing this as a good place for the others to stop at, he begins to retrace his steps towards the bunker.-

-looking up at the far distant sun through the smoggy clouds of pestilence and smoky pyres, he realizes he has almost been gone for the two hours and begins to pick up the pace as he hears the moans of undead in the blocks nearby.-

    [End Exert]

OOC: Initial Scout Reports suggest large concentrations of undead emanating from the Warehouse districts (Rows F and G, Columns 5-16) and small concentrations of undead to the first "store" caution is advised until the survivors start eliminating the hostiles wandering aimlessly nearby. Due to the amount of corpses, disease and infection are highly possible to anyone left outside of the bunkers recycled air for too long.

Rex nodded as he holstered his handgun, morbidly reflecting on the fact that he had lost his lasgun and if the regiment had been successful in saving the planet, he would have been subject to disciplinary action. Thinnest silver-lining I've ever heard of. "No problem, Nurse Davenport. When we head topside, follow the Guard's example and keep your wits about you. We have no idea what we'll be expecting up there." Not entirely true, but he wouldn't scare a volunteer out of helping now.

*Reginald looked up from the prayer book he was reading, standing up, attaching the book to his belt once more, he had ceased shaving his hair and beard in morning for all the lost souls on the planet, and now had some unkempt hair on his once shaven head, and had a somewhat scraggly beard growing as well, he had helped maintain the moral of the group and maintain the majority of the group's faith in the Emperor, he now wore some old combat boots he found in the bunker when they first moved into it, over his now dirty robes he has a gun holster under his left arm so as to easily pull it out, and the baton on the left side of the belt on his waist, the prayer book on the right, he wore a golden aquila pendant around his neck*

"i will accompany the search party, who knows what horrors will be faced, and faith is often required to banish such beasts"

''But can we afford to split up? We don't know what's out there, perhaps there's nothing left, perhaps there are still enemies around. It's been quiet for a month or two now, so I'd doubt the traitor marines are still here, but...look, I see your point, I can't help but feel splitting up would be like sending half the survivors to the slaughter.''

OOC: Certainly. I'll need to know which additional item you'd like (see post #52)

    OOC: Done.

    OOC: Done. Nicely played.

OOC: The bunker was sealed tight. Nothing got in, or out, for six months, and I never gave any indication that it might have. The survivors do not know what is out there, they did not see the undead beforehand (else they would have spoken about it, don't you think?). Also, would the shovel still be bloody after six months? I mean, are the survivors so busy sitting around that they don't have time to clean their few possessions?

Noted on the map. You have permission to enter the building, but await further instruction before deciding what you find there.

OOC: What scout report? Given by whom? When? How would the other survivors know? Telekinesis? Enemy locations are for me to decide, to be honest. RPs tend to get derailed when the GM isn't the one deciding who, or what, is where outside of the player controlled characters. Yes there will be hordes, but no they won't be everywhere.

    OOC: Noted. And yea.

    --

''Alright. Seems like we have a good number. Let's get topside, we'll see what's out there,'' Bruce said. ''Kenny, take point. We'll be on your six.''

''Yessir,'' Kenny said, his laspistol and knife both held in hand.

On the outside of the bunker the survivors were greeted with a scene of horror and devastation. Heavy Chaos shelling had all but leveled most of the city, giant crates had been blown in to the ground. There was a curious lack of corpses, but it had been six months since the fighting came to its climax, perhaps the Chaos forces had taken the bodies for some strange experimentation. Or perhaps they'd eaten them. Bruce didn't know.

''Fuck,'' Bruce said, his mouth agape. ''Alright, let's move out. If I remember right, there's a warehouse at [grid F5]. Maybe there are supplies there. Be on your guard, we don't know what awaits us, but try to be as quiet as possible. We'll move slowly, but steadily. One Eye, you're rearguard. Buzzsaw, take point with Kenny. The rest stay with me.''

The group moved forward, spending the extra time to ensure they didn't run in any sort of ambush or trap.

Kenny brought them to a stop, forcing them in to a crouch as he looked out from behind a half broken wall. Ahead he had spotted several figures in the distance.

''Enemies?'' Bruce whispered up toward Kenny.

''Can't tell,'' Kenny whispered, looking back. ''They don't look armed, though.''

    ''Survivors, then?'' Jeff suggested.

''Maybe. Alright, you guys stay here, Kenny and I will get closer and see what's happening,'' Bruce said. The others nodded in agreement and stayed in position.

''Buzz, you're on point. If anything goes wrong, well..''

Buzzsaw nodded, the sergeant needn't finish the sentence.

    --

Moving in closer, Bruce tried to call out to the figure.

    ''H-hey,'' he said.

The figure stopped, and howled as it spotted him. In that moment he realised that the figure he had taken to be a man wasn't a man at all. His face was decomposed, and one eye was missing. His bottom jaw was entirely out of place and he had a bullet hole in his neck. He should have been dead.

''What the fuck is that?'' Bruce exclaimed.

In the distance the other figures appeared to become aware of Bruce and Kenny, and started to lumber toward the two men.

''I don't like this,'' Kenny said.

''I agree. Let's get back to the group, we'll try somewhere else.''

As Bruce and Kenny started to withdraw, the pursuers started to pick up pace. By the time the two men had returned to their group, the chasers were already upon them.

''Shit, stand your ground. We're gonna have to put them down. They're crazed or something,'' Bruce said, before firing a couple of rounds in to one of the attacker's chest. The man fell down, both rounds striking through him. But he sat back up. No blood came forth, and the injury didn't seem to hinder him at all.

''What is that thing?'' Kenny asked.

    ''I don't know!'' Bruce said.

As the advancing enemy reached the group, the survivors began to panic. Some tried to make a run for it, others started to hack through the oncoming horde.

Alexis put a round through one of the attacker's heads, her years of hunting sure were proving useful now. The creature didn't rise from that. [-1 ammo]

''The heads,'' she said. ''Go for the heads.''

Bruce nodded, and lunged his knife in to the skull of the man trying to grab for him. Sure enough the creature was felled. But not everyone in the group was so calm, or so capable in a fight. Bruce watched on in horror as Becka was pulled down under the weight of the horde. One Eye and Jen laid in to the mob, knocking the creatures away, and killing some with their cutlass and sword respectively. They dragged Becka out from the horde, but her arm was gnawed away, and her neck was injured from the creatures.

''Pull back,'' Bruce said. ''Over there, head toward [grid D5]!''

Bruce grabbed hold of Becka, raising her on to his shoulder, as the survivors moved toward the building. Hopefully there would be no more of the monsters inside, but then today probably juts wasn't the day for luck.

[OOC: So, make your way toward the building and fend off the horde as you can. Once inside we barricade it, until we can figure out what to do next (because running in to the horde wasn't a plan that worked)]

Brick grunted as he drew his blade seeing as his carbine was still stowed away with his pack. "Well hello there ya rotten..." Interrupting himself with a growl he stabbed on through the face, twisting as he ripped the weapon out. "Jen get inside that damned building and make sure these freaks aren't gonna come crawling out of the shadows. I'll work on barricading the doors once everyone is inside. " Breaking off toward the building he sliced the hands from a particularly grabby undead. "Back with ya! Back! " Standing his ground by the door he waited for the rest to make it in.

  9. Well based off of the initial conversation, my character would of returned within the two hour mark to the group from the store. I didn't stay there unless the survivors decided to not heed my warning in which case I take back the scout report because they were too stupid to wait for me to return. I mean seriously, is two hours really that long to wait for something that could save your life?
  10. Day 1: The Long Way Home

-hearing the gunfire as he was returning back to the bunker, Jonah stopped mid stride and looked in the direction he heard the gunfire from. Noting how the discharge seemed to echo for a long while, he began to fear that it would attract even more of the undead into the area....or even worst. Grabbing the pistol out of his chest holster and double checking to make sure a round was already in the chamber, Jonah began to slowly head off in the direction of the gun discharge thinking either a group of survivors was out there or a member(s) of the bunker had decided to not heed his warning.-
