  1. Even just the books they make are worth the money. The books give sooo much more lore that the bl books can't cover. I have a few FW models for my ultramarines. They are nice, expensive, but nice

They do look great but I'm not that good at painting so I'd be more upset with my result of the amount I'd spend on making some Emperor's Children. I'd still forever call them Loyalist though...

I've seen a couple of the books which seem to be more just lore books in a way like giving the legion numbers for the Dropsite Massacre.
  3. They give a lot of background for the legions, how they fight, unit structure ect

Is that text from both of the books?
  5. Ohyoupokedme Poked First Blood!

The movie was great, and anyone can go to town and nitpick this movie to bits...

... As you can also do with the originals...

    ... and the prequels...

    ...and the cartoon series...

There are many things I can nitpick this movie for, mainly for the lack of lore it has set up for this series as of now (there are still two more planned movies so I'm keeping my hopes up. I don't think they'll leave us in the dark for long. And lets not forget that the originals also had this confusing setting up of the world), but otherwise I am satisfied with what I have.

And lets be honest. You guys are complaining now... This isn't as bad as the prequels, far from it, so lets be just a little grateful for what we have as of now.
  6. I wish there was a dislike button.

What the remaining original fans, and the new fans that Disney sees as mobile cash dispensers, have now is Episode 4 rebooted, with bits from the other films and the EU thrown in. What the True EU fans had was an organically grown universe that spanned 25,000 years of history (roughly), and spanned virtually every medium.

    Why should I be grateful?

@Vulpas yes that is text from those novels. Note the difference in quality.

I would like to look into them at some point then. I do have Visions of Heresy which just seems to be a big book of lore.

I didn't see Boba Fett in the VII. Explain. I've heard that Fett and Solo went around the galaxy cruising together fucking shit up. Well we can't see that any more now can we...

  8. No. What you have there is a confession, someone admitting they will take and pillage ideas from the previous setting when they feel like it. There is no mention of adapting them, no mention of the stories he has in mind and no mention of respecting the authors at all. He even offers a few less than subtle jabs at the EU for being less popular. You have not brought up something in his defence or proving his innocence, only a confession admitting he is a thief who will take what he wants from others for his shitty stolen storylines.

Now, kindly stop defending a criminal purely thanks to his popularity. I honestly would have thought you would have been above that.

If it helps, the developers outright said that those events were stories being repeated in broad strokes. Unlike the poor excuse of the Legends brand, the developers went in with the idea that everything would be exaggerated and treated like a myth by those amping up his power. Their original plan was actually to have Proxy, the droid he was with, recovered and retelling these events either from damaged data or getting the info from those who were still mourning Starkiller's death. It would have been left to the player to decide how much was truly accurate or not.

Avarice. It's the same reason everything has been wiped away but we suddenly have the same ideas or the same characters showing up with new names and faces. Disney wants total control over the franchise in all its forms, every character, every element of the lore. The EU allowed most authors some control over their creations and it was considered a major taboo to kill off another author's character without their consent or push forwards plots involving them without getting their go-ahead. That was actually one reason Karen Traviss ended up being pushed out in all honesty. Anyway, in effect the creators would be getting royalties for what they had rightfully made and the elements they had introduced to the setting, with some say in how things progressed. Disney doesn't want to pay those people or to have them retaining control, so everything they built has all been destroyed. As such, we now have poor copies of past characters cropping up and taking their place.

Yes, and an example of the quality of authors they have working on each. I was foolish enough to give the new setting a chance, and discovered most of the universe had been replaced with complete crap. The only exception was Twilight Company, which was only okay.

  9. Then that was really unclear to me. If Starkiller was an established mythological like hero in the lore previous to the Force Unleashed then it may have worked better. But because the character was introduced in the game he comes from, he seems like a sudden Canon Sue because wouldn't it be awesome if you could throw around Emperor Palpatine likes ragdoll. Not to mention that force lightening was Vader's Achilles heel. The reason he died in ROTJ was because Palpatine shocked the hell out of his life support functions. And we have Starkiller frying the hell out of Vader, not to mention busting his helmet open, should have killed him also, ontop of the whole fried life support.

Lore whore aside, there's things with Force Unleashed that could have been handled better.
  10. Dark Knight Dark-Knight Nickname Change

I believe they were originally described as a friend of the Emperor but later in a revised story referred to as a Guardsmen, I'll have to go back and check the archives, but a lot has changed such as the Emperor not fighting his final battle in a command bunker on Terra.
