they have not said they are against it. they have not given reasons. but its very possible for them to included later in the game.
What Uriel said. When we get more opinions of how the Neophyte system should work, then I'll type up a basic script of how it should work, so we all get the big idea here.
I want to pass my experience to my meat... cof cof... I mean to my trusted squire, the future of the chapter I need someone to do the shooting while I charge a carnifex with my power sword. xD
I like it, hopefully I`m already initiate But I don`t think people will have time to give orders like kill that heretic, tank etc during fight just say it by microphone.
I disagree, there have to be mini-objectives being able to given or auto-created depending on the situation. That way they learn directly just like those tutorial quests where you are told "Kill the enemy with a headshot" or such. We may hide these Neophyte instructions also as Achievements though... idk ^^
They don't even have to be on the spot orders, they could be like mini quests or challenges like in other games. Get 10 headshot kills Get 10 melee kills with x weapon Kill x tyranids Get x assists with x class Get a long range kill at <x distance. Completing these objectives can give you xp and in game currency. This way, we don't all have to become achievement hunters for specific Neophyte gear.
Seems like a pretty awesome mechanic, but what guarantee is there that the mentors will indeed mentor the oncoming players. After quiet a bit of online experience i worry about egotists taking advantage of this mechanic. If voice chat is involved (not much you can really do about that). Moreover, are you suggesting just one neophyte per mentor or one veteran player leading a squad of neophytes? Personally I think we should auto squad them when they enter the game with a veteran player and give them bonuses whilst near. Moreover, that they have the option to thumbs up or down the mentor of that squad. And the mentor of the squad will gain bonuses for leading a successful squad. Also, I believe the game should log playtime (both duration and times online) to better match players to other players who are online at the same times most often. In an attempt to bring more familiarity with players, and a stronger sense of community. After playing planetside 2 getting in a good platoon or outfit really made the game much more enjoyable, but when I first started the game it made things so much simpler being able to follow a platoon around, and objectives placed there in.
