The negativity on steam for EC is getting bad.

The community is the worst part of this game.

Yeah, especially those forumites who have to make a fake account to exprees their feelings because they are afraid to use their real one.

  3. I would love to leave a positive review but I honestly can't, the game looks, works and plays bad.

The worst part is that it doesn't seem to be getting better.

I keep being surprised by people who expect some kind of finished product or something being polished when it's still in feature-development alpha.
  5. I don't.

Then why do you expect it to be getting better when they're still developing features?
  7. Why do I expect the game to get better with time and developement? Is this a joke?

Like I said before, "something being polished when it's still in feature-development alpha". They are adding things in roughly and trying to tweak things with spare time. This is not the phase of development where polishing happens to make everything better. This is why I said what I did about people not knowing what to expect in product development life cycles.

  9. Well, they don't have time. EC releases in 2016, main core features are still missing and what we got now is medicore and has been medicore for months.

What you said would be perfectly reasonable a year ago, not now.

I find it really hard to say something specific since I seldom get a 'good match' latency wise.
It's hard to distinguish what is due to poor latency/optimalisation or what is due to gamedesign.

Since December I have played like this: 2-3hours after each patch, sometimes double that amount, I dont enjoy playing any more than that because it just sucks balls for me due to the latency, dying behind cover, shieldbros that seem to pop up outta nowhere, etc.
Now even if dont let these things count, cos im nice and lenient like that, I still dont see much improvement or maybe I should say progression instead of improvement: each patch brings shiny little things: a meltagun, rts weapons, etc.
The main structures and mechanics remain the same, and I have no illusion that they will be changed, because for whatever reason, they are set in stone.

Some weeks ago Nathan told us a bit about 16km by 16km maps, which should be large enough to at least give us a little taste of openworldness.
I would strongly suggest they drop the generic maps they got in development right now and focus on bringing that one out for playtesting asap.
Most maps that are on liveserver are really poor in design, no creativity, not grimdark also no logic, you see sandbags in places that dont make sense for anyone to put sandbags there etc. a map needs logic, not deus ex machina design, this is often overlooked or understood in level design.

BHVR can continue to churn out more generic maps, only (in the eyes of some) to confirm the lobbyshooter approach, or, they can put the generic maps on hold for a bit and strive to bring out the 16km by 16km map so players will get the opportunity to taste openworldlike scenarios.

As I've said on many occasions: my main interest in joining the game was because it was presented as something new, im always interested to explore new approaches etc (this also caused me to waste 30 bucks on the War Z, but whatever hehe).
Hype is based on momentum, and the momentum is dropping fast if it hasnt dropped completely already.
Twitches are mainly about whats in the works on the devservers, very little reveals and 'deep'ingame mechanics questions from hardcore players.
Actual patches are biweekly at best.

If BHVR continues like this they walk imo in a trap: they keep listening to the relative smaller playerbase who is super invested and play a shitload of hours per week, and also have the best understanding of the game's mechanics.
Thats all nice and well, except BHVR creates a tunnelvision for themselves, overlooking the tons of players who play more like me: couple of hours after each patch to see improvements and then leaving it, without wondering WHY players such as myself leave it.

In my idea they should put the generic maps on hold and push for the release of the 16km by 16km map and the PVE section to provide more flavour that is desperately needed.

If you look at the forums here, its also an indication: thread after thread discussing nerfs, OPness of aspects, etc. mostly started and discussed by the more hardcore players i often encounter ingame with a shitton of kills, where a scrub like me can only hope of having an equal kdr.
BHVR isnt hearing the casual players enough (also partly cos the casuals dont bother to give feedback etc) and EC's success will be in the massive part, and you need casuals to provide the massive numbers.
