I have VERY similar memories from childhood (and Spy vs Spy was a great game but not better than International Karate )
I don't really have a problem with the shit talking that goes on around reviews or steam forums. I mean if you want to see what a game is really like just watch a youtube video of gameplay. That's what I did, you see the clunkyness and bugs and whatever issues you're going to see. Forums are always full of people bashing each other, they are the cesspools of the internet. What really annoys me is the shit talking in game. I can't turn off chat and it's literally the only thing my team does. I don't have hurt feelings, but it's incredibly distracting to have teammates whining all game and I keep looking in chat thinking there might be a useful communication that is game-related. Most of the things talked about are really cringe-worthy too so it ruins the atmosphere of being in a 40k battle. I really wish I could just turn the entire chat off because I can't seem to avoid looking at it when it pops up.
Funny. Hypocritical as hell. Love it. The guy who keeps whining about dying by every other faction and thinking SM should be the only faction that's good says that he should be taken serious and the person who wants to balance things not to? You seem to be digging your own grave.
I'm quite glad that most publishers, despite whitewashing their image somewhat in forums they have some form of control over, still won't stoop to that level of sycophantic denial.
Tell me more about how you did balance things when you were defending MoN when it was super OP, or when the AC was OP....talking about hypocrisy....for a chaos fanboy you are doing a bad job. Your lovely OP AC toy got nerfed, i love seeing you crying. Looking forward to your tears when the sorcerer gets nerfed too Also your signature, thanks for the OC for cringe threads
I was negative in a post last patch. I am impressed that the devs shared my opinions and moved forward in some great directions. The new patch is excellent. Eldar are fun and unique and balanced. My FPS error has been fixed. However, melee is still imperfect. Currently non-sword weapons are very under powered. I read the dev post that said they are rebalancing and am hopeful.
The negativity is there because the game shows little signs of improvement. After poessising this game for over a year, I have seen far too little development for what should exist. I am fairly confident a good 75% of what has been promised will not be delivered. Which is understandable, but the multiplayer is very repetitive and if remains in more or less the same state, the game will die. The same fate is befalling Battlefleet Gothic; where the developers, for whatever weird reason, made one of the most asinine and arbitrarily punishing ship systems that has almost completely killed the multiplayer (after 2 months of release, the average max is 456 online....)
seems games developers simply dont know what players actually want ... even less then the players know themselves, churn out the same old dross year after year and wonder why it doesnt work .... if the development took a little bit less time and money we could happy label most of what comes out as shovel-ware, sadly considering the time and money that goes into games development and the end products that get churned out it seems theres a massive disconnect between 2 camps
I agree that the development of a successful AAA title is becoming increasingly more difficult, but not only for the smaller companies. There is a trend set by couple of bigger game companies that shifted the attention of their customers from being "fun" and into "instant fun", having the effect similar like taking narcotics - if you don't get what you paid for (what you need) right now you gonna do everything in your power to rain hell down on those responsible for it. Also, when I said "fun" I was really being super broad there. When you take in consideration what I said before and applying it to one of the current hit games - Overwatch, leaving subjective thinking aside (or at least attempting to do it ), marketing stunts and not entering "I like it\I don't like it" sphere, the game itself didn't really give anything new or revolutionary to the FPS genre - one could even say it's a glorified TF2 mod - but the Blizzard devs, being masters at creating games more addictive than heroine, once again did what they do best and created the atmosphere where a gamer feels like he must get more and more levels to unlock the loot boxes so he can get more new stuff and maybe even those rare golden skins (which by the way, in their majority have same effects and look slightly different. Of course, much better than those simple recolors). But you get the point. That mixed with an easy to hop in gameplay is definitely a way to create a successful lobby shooter. I'm also happy bE has that goal in their heads, however I'm not so sure they are going to hit the mark. We are 10 months into this testing and my personal opinion is that this project failed to successfully evolve, more like it it stagnated or even went a bit downwards because back in September 2015 when I first tried out the game, I enjoyed it much more than I do now. Yeah, there were less items, most of the things weren't in, but even that "first try" felt somehow more fluid than this, more down and realistic. It was looking quite positive and I was really enthusiastic to see how it would go from there. But as more stuff came in it seemed that the number of problems exponentially rose alongside it, similar comparison could be said for these forums how they got increasingly more toxic over the months as the player base was divided into couple of warring factions arguing about the doom of this game or balance issues, which by the way are like the least of the concerns\problems this game has. So fast forward 10 months and we ended up with a mishmash of features glued together and a staunch community holding it intact however I'm afraid that as sooner we get to the summer\winter or whatever date when they plan on launching EC, the more shit will hit the fan. Sorry for the long rant, I'm kinda emotional now for I've been here for quite a long time, far back since the original reddit Q&A with couple of other original gangsters here and despite not playing EC for like a month, tonight I downloaded the latest patch and after spending couple of hours in game, I exited and deleted it from my library. That is my current opinion of this game but I'm still hoping for the best, for it to rock when it comes out and shit, but we all know what hope really is
