I think it actually is just a reskinned version. To me, and maybe others, the new look is important enough that it was worth getting some artists to draw it.
Plz not just reskinned. hopefully something different.. It took over 3 months and if we are getting just re skinned.....
The first think it looked to be, is just a different shaped map. Nothing seems new. More sand to the eyes of the unnoticing... Unless they completely rework the campagin, to something relevant....and territorial occupation, to be relevant.... Stuff like that... Instead of a map, that shows random territories, and tells nothing of interest about it. You just see who has been winning more matches. YAY!!!
The reworked map will work the pretty much the same as the current one we have but we just fight over multiple continents where we can actually WIN continents and move onto new ones. Also remember that on the stream Brent said that it may contain the visual appeal first before implementing the other features though I don't know how credible it is since Brent left. EDIT: Brent also said improvements would be made to the campaign but we have no information on how so keep on the look out for that
I mean, I guess a lot of people wouldn't care about the difference between the old version and the new version. I care, though.
i dont think much else is changing but looks and if you win a battle on an area enough that area belongs to your faction and such. I do not thin they will make permanent forts/maps for each zone of the map (i hope they do in future but i doubt it will be in the foreseeable future)
I don't get it, what's so special about another map? I don't see it being like Planetside 2 continents, just a reskin of what we already have.
I mean my gut reaction as CSM is to say 'Yeah, fuck the Emperor' but I do think he had a point. Even relatively 'benevolent' species like primary Craftworld Eldar had corsairs who ruthlessly pillage human settlements for slaves and resources, or Craftworlds like Biel Tan who will wipe out humans to a child. Hrud, Xol'tol, Nephelim, and countless other alien species ruthlessly tortured and maimed humanity for what seemed like nothing more then amusement. Diasporax and others like them just wanted to be left alone, but they were a minority in an extremely hostile galaxy. Even the recent Tau have debatably good intentions depending on how much fluff about mind control and internment camps you choose to believe is real, and no matter what it does exist on *some* level. The human race was scared and alone in a violent universe, the Emperor gave them the tools to fight back.
For the future... I'd like to eventually see maps tied to particular territories. Maybe not unique maps, one for each territory, but enough of a variety of maps that there's an association with the map you're playing and the territory your faction is fighting over. I dunno how they'd do it though. But some sort of fairly direct association between the gameplay and the world map would be fantastic for me.
