The Lash Of Loesh

"A lot of things." Sigvald smiled a little, contrasting with the flayed skins that hung from his armor. He ate surprisingly little, and kept very few slaves around himself...for some reason or another, his sword is at his hip like always and the ever so slightly visible splotches of blood alongside it's edge indicate it had seen some use recently.

He didn't have his wargear off unlike many Astartes in the room, outside of the forge located somewhere in bowls of the Battle Barge he seemed to never take it off. The Chaos Sorcerer tapped his knuckles on the table "Talking to various people in both the Black :Legion and the Emperors Children on the way to the Imperial Fortress world, whatever is happening it's surface has made an unusually large imprint in the Warp, for years it's been like a throbbing Bass Note in my ears and now that i'v finally found it's source, I want to see what Arkhona has to offer. Shornaal willing, i'll drench myself in blood on the way there."

It wasn't a thing often talked about aboard the Lash of Loesh, but Sigvald was a former Palatine Blade back in the days of the Great Crusade, confusing for people outside the Legion no doubt but within everyone knew that Fulgrim had forbade any Psykers within the legion proper, and so the Chaos Sorcerers that attended Terra had the unique distinction of often coming from other units. As a Blade he had followed Lucius the Eternals Warhost for quite some time out of the Imperium, but by chance he was separated and somehow found his way to the Screaming Vortex.

When he came out sometime later Sigvald had been changed significantly by the ordeal, one such quirk was 'Shornaal' a dread aspect of Slaanesh he claimed came from dead world called Melencholia, not uncommon since the Prince of Chaos had a thousand and one names. However Shornaal seemed to be particularly bitter, vengeful, and bloodthirsty....something more prone to come out during his violent mood swings.

After a moment taken in pause, Sigvald finally noticed Vanilus and leaned forward, a smile drawn up into a grin on his thin lips as he took the offering "....This is gorgeous, I doubt i'd find anything like it even in the Halls of Dionaea...."

  3. Kheroth watched a mortal approach Sigvald, and couldn't help but feel disgusted at the fact that there were so many non-astartes in the chamber. Kheroth hated their weakness, but understood their usefulness.

He noticed what the mortal was holding in his hands, an intricately carved sculpture. So fine were the details that Kheroth wondered how an unmodified human were able to see them, let alone sculpt them.

"You have quite a talent" Kheroth briefly allowed his love for art to overcome his hatred for mortals.
"So who might you be? and how did you manage to find yourself in a place like this?"

"It is the six-hundred-and-sixty-sixth attempt of a trophy and sculpture for you, milord. I worked on it ever since our departure. Certainly blessed by Slaanesh, as all 665 prior versions lacked one detail or the other. But this one... It shall remind you well for what you are going to achieve soon, furthermore, milord. Similar to the newer Godwyn-Bolter types, this one has a genetic imprint. Anyone but you touching it, will release poisonous spikes that will kill whomever dares to ruin the perfection. The imprint itself, was done just by you accepting the gift right now."

He kept his head low and spoke in tone of respect, not so much implied fear, but true, upright respect. For he was blessed by Slaanesh far more, otherwise he would have not risen up to a Warhost leader. But he rose his head to speak to the other Astartes.

"My name is Vanilus, Astartes. Our good lord here, has allowed me to join. I was a master mason and simply could not create the Emperor's statue anymore. The faces were wicked and twisted, instead of arms other appendages grew. Visions of horrifying creatures controlling my sleeping mind. For months I had those issues and almost was executed once others of the Imperium discovered my.... 'Problems'. But once Sigvald arrived, it all became so clear to me. I had no nightmares. I had inspiration. I wasted my talent in replicating, instead of creating. Slaanesh and Sigvald both have shown me that. And ever since, I create works in his and the warhosts name, aspiring perfection."

The man spoke with hatred of his past, but with delight once he got to the part of his liberation from the iron fist of the Imperium that had restrained his visions for so long. He was freed and offered his talents in eternal gratitude to his liberator.

Sigvald glanced up at Kheroth after giving the sculptor a nod "He's quite blessed by Slaanesh indeed....it's only fitting that I alone should take it." it seemed as though the momentary disgust hadn't gone by unnoticed as he set the piece down "I always wondered Kheroth, where did your distaste for them come from? Mortals are the backbone of any army, and even I have one woman that I truly and wholly admire. I dare say perhaps more then a pleasure slave. It's not like we field the brutes of Khorne or the Plague Zombies of Nurgle, our men and women tend to be the best Assassins and Pirates the Galaxy has to offer."

For a moment, Sigvald cupped his chin in his hand as he glanced between the two "Feel free to say if I am overstepping my bounds, but i'm genuinely curious."

  6. "Quite blessed indeed" Kheroth said with a nod towards the sculptor.

He then returned his gaze to Sigvald. "When i left the Eye of Terror, when i left the Slave Wars behind in search for the answers to my many questions, i found myself before the throne of a Daemon Prince, deep within the Screaming Vortex. He could have killed me, but instead he saw in me what was lacking in so many others: understanding. Understanding that the only way to achieve true perfection is to banish all weakness, no matter how grand and terrifying the scale.
He gave me a mantle of responsibility, to see to it that i do everything in my power to create a perfect galaxy. Men, mortal men, are not strong, not like you and i Sigvald, and are therefore hindering the galaxy's ascension.
It is men like Valinus, however, that make me question. The answer is simple, however, if the gods see to it that he is worth saving, a daemon he shall become."

Kheroth then gestured to the leather bag in front of him. "Here, i have brought you something."

He opened the bag, releasing the stench of blood into the air around them, Kheroth smiled at the scent.
Inside were two hearts, one slightly smaller than the other.

"The hearts of Chapter Master Cononis, formerly of the Torch Bearers." he said with a grin.

The larger heart had a small chunk ripped out of it. Kheroth licked his lips and looked back at Sigvald. "Sorry, it was a long trip."

Without hesitation, Sigvald took the offered heart and ate whole and raw even as Kheroth said those words. He understood the hatred of weakness, and he resolved to show none a long, long time ago. For a moment he breathed deep, then looked at the two then.

"The shared origin makes a lot of sense, no one comes out of the Screaming Vortex....quite the same, nor the Eye of Terror, the Maelstorm, or anywhere else....as far as Daemonhood, yes, perhaps someday." he gave Valinus a nod of approval, he certainly seemed there was potential.

"Whatever the case, I too understand Kheroth, which is why I treat you with no scorn even though our legions had a...rocky...relationship. I try to understand all my men, few Chaos Lords know what precious value there is in loyalty, if you treat your soldiers well then they will treat you well."
  8. "Legions mean little to me now, for as long as we stand beside one another against the Imperium, you are a brother to me."

Kheroth noticed a Marine across the dining hall, calling out his name, he left to meet with his old acquaintance. "Excuse me for a moment lord Sigvald."

[i'm going to do finals haha and i don't know when i'll have a chance to post again so in the meantime i'm just talking to an old friend]
