A warning to all Iron Hands players, the upcoming supplement has managed to get everything wrong. The preview alone has revealed the direction of the new lore, which has utterly swept away almost all previous traditions. Rather than the decentralised Clan Company structure, the new book has retconned them to be completely Codex adherent with Clan names being a mere formality. Yes, this means that all terminator suits are reserved for their first company and all forces consist rigidly of one hundred space marines. Furthermore, any and all fluff thus far relating to their history avoids the subject of any connections with the Adeptus Mechanicus and even screws with the Horus Heresy novels. Rather than the Morlocks, the Terminator elite who accompanied Ferrus to Isstvan was Clan Avernii. You can look it up and see if your yourself, but already it seems anything unique beyond their bionics is being watered down or outright destroyed. Oh, and they ever manage to get the initiation ritual wrong. Every single last Iron Hands image has the bionic hand they are implanted with upon initiation on the right, not the left as it has always been.
I was always wondered about this expect for FAQ (which often have their own errors ironiclly enough) how does GW change exsisting fluff expect by publishing new material thats different? Its a giant middle finger to the fans who love the old fluff, but maybe they meant to change it, for good or bad?
Its k they ruined imperial fists and turned them into black templars. Also, apparently the flaw for imperial fists is to much pride.
No confirmation yet, but i'd be willing to bet yes from the way it's written. It has his usual touches present in his writing style, and goes out of its way to remind the reader about Guilliman and how all chapters bowed before his "seminal work." Also because, prior to Rob Cruddance and other authors trying to get things back on track, he previously tried to make them codex adherent by giving them a chapter master and such. It's not as if they didn't see the backlash about that move either, as keeping the Great Clan Council (renamed the Iron Council because the book seems to be using "iron" in place of "wolf" "blood" or "nemesis") is more or less the only element retained from the old lore. No argument there, but the problem is that the artwork contains very few elements which make the Iron Hands look unique. Every single one, including the cover no less, got the initiation implant on the wrong arm, there are no terminators leading any squads despite that being a tradition within the chapter and even the bionics themselves look a bit watered down in a few images. Looking like they only have a few bits removed but otherwise appear overall human when other fluff sources had veterans so heavily enhanced they were quite literally built into their armour.
It's because of reasons like these among many many others that I moved onto playing Warhammer Fantasy.
