Someone said "This isn't working as we need it" or "It's going too slow (development wise)," "Not going to be able to fund that and the game," "worried it'll be unstable and cause massive crashing, let's do something safer first then open it up once we have a foundation AND are more familiar with the tech" there's a ton of things that could have happened. A lot of them make a ton of sense, like Pikko not doing what they thought it was going to or having the issue or not getting it to work with EC when/how they need it to.

It doesn't matter WHO cut it in the end, because it happened. Knowing who did it doesn't stop it from being removed, just lets you point a finger which doesn't get it put back in any faster, even if a feature could.

exaclty we don't care what happen inside the dev team: but if we tell the dev team that we really really really care about a feature that feature will be "bumped up" in the list or at least they try to give us that feature before.

Like some problem can delay stuff, some good news (or for example more money for a pubblisher or other) can help the dev team to delivery something faster or better or no idea.

I don't talk about having a new feature tomorrow, but instead of 12 months the feature will come after 9 months.

things can change: but don't I hope that things are not forced of change in negative but also in positive.

That's not patently true. It helps them down the road maybe decide what gets dev time/etc, but not always if they think it isn't as important as we do, or think other things are more important to the core game or immediate game. This is one of those moments where you can probably wail till your lungs are empty and it's not going to move Terminators to launch, especially when they have sooo many other considerations and things that are being yelled as loudly.

It's still important to let them know we like something, this is true, as it can help them possibly get a better look at things to consider.

Extra money isn't gunna help unless it's a HUGE amount that allows them to drastically expand the team...should they even want to do that. The money might be funneled into projects post launch or other aspects of the gameplay, it won't be applied directly to a single feature like people think.

Also, don't think 3 months time difference makes a big deal to a player. I can understand not wanting something to take 2-3 years, but anywhere between 6-12 months is pretty quick in the grand scheme of things. And, one feature isn't going to change the fact if you stop playing in that time because you don't like the game.

  4. Just to keep beating this horse...

I think the idea that "it's too hard to balance for Terminators" is total bullwaste.

Planetside 2 has been around for a few years now. They couldn't even balance MAX suits very well. Planetside 2 is a universe created by a game, whereas EC is a game created from a universe. Think about this and the implications.

I don't think the fear of balance should stop it from being implemented. Yes, it will likely take many iterations for Termies to settle in. You don't learn and progress from not trying, or even trying then failing and giving up.

One of my favorite lines ever is "the real problem is how to make mistakes fast enough."

Pretty much this, they will have to be introduced some time anyway, the faster it is the better for them (and us).

It's not specifically a fear of balance, it's the lack of time and resources (which time is technically part of.) It's unfortunate you don't believe bE and their reasoning, but that's kind of your problem and not theirs.

Whenever Termies and their equivalents happen, I hope they take their time with them and do them right instead of rushing them based on any ill-conceived and ill-argued demand.

You can't do shit right without testing it on real humans first, the more you test and the earlier you start the better for the product\asset\whatever. You just can't 'do' termies or other elements strictly virtually, it's the real players who make such things alive.
  8. Exactly!

Which is why they need to finish the core game first and get it into our hands ASAP. Then the real testing begins. At the same time, they get us the other factions to test on top of the SM vs CSM aspect.

Who knows. We're still over a year away from launch. Maybe they are able to get them into the game by launch. Maybe the balancing and testing will go smoothly. We just have to wait and see.

I never said anything to the contrary. They do have these things called test servers and the like that are options to allow actual physical data instead of the "strictly virtually" as you put it. Which can and will happen post launch, however they decide to do it. Wasn't advocating not having the founders or players help with balancing and implementation.

You don't get it, BE can test their stuff as much as they want to but they will never know these things truly untill it's given to the hands of many different players - they\we will find bugs and shit the devs never dreamt of, that's why they shouldn't be afraid to throw things early to us, this will only benefit the game not otherwise.
