The Eldar and Tau have similar goals, They seek survival and to maintain what they have established across the galaxy while the Tau are just now entering the galactic theater, they try to avoid conflict where possible althought it is certain to happen eventually. The Tau also have no grudges against chaos, the Tau see the members of Chaos as humans who have freed themselves of the Imperium abliet through dark methods then those the Tau would endorse. The Tau also barely register in the warp and as such are affected little by the Chaos gods. If the Tau were to ally with anyone their best bet would be the Eldar.

Yes this is a peace conversation but why not try to win the hearts of the Tau. We have cookies and all the drugs you ever want.
